Dec 2022 Trip Report

Fellow LVA, ers.  Always like to share my trip reports.
Have to agree, magic is gone.  Stayed at Bellaglio for the first two days.  The stress level zooms to the top when walking that center isle with at least 1,000 people in that small space.  Was able to check in online and print my own room keys.  The display was great at Bellagio this christmas.  Love the train and the monitors on the train.  Gingerbread house was great.  If you want to play 3/2 blackjack, it will cost you $100.00 a hand.  Had some luck at the main crap table there.  Always seem to, you would think strip would be total loss, but I made a few hundred.  Gym there is great, love that upper level gym overlooking the garden area.

The bed at Bellagio was just fantastic.  Im really glad they guard the rooms.  Plus was comped a night.  Mgm actually was not bad.  Perhaps ill just keep staying at these Mgm properties.  my cousins were staying at NYNY.  Food is good at Gallaghers and American Cafe.  Did hit thr zeros on that 3 zero 7.62% against game.  Took my money and ran.  Tried to ride the roller coaster after standing in line for at least 25 minutes.  Get upstairs and find out they are renovating the arcade and roller coaster.  Guess that teaches me to check out thr ride before trying to get the coupon.

I should know better, the reward people are not talking to the ride people.

But then onto Green Valley Ranch for 7 nights, ughhh.  not good.  Anthony is right, station casinos are the pits.  That $50 trick to get a better room doesn't work.  The guy was ok checking in.  Room was so run down.  Cracked sink, bathroom could really use an upgrade.  They were good enough to supply my wife the free refrigerator for her medicine.

At Green Vallley Ranch, The gym is outside at green valley, so a cold walk outside.  Bring your room key or security will stop you at the check in desk outside.  Thats probably a good idea, but incovinent.  After returning from the gym, my room key did not work for the elevator.  I go to front desk and ask for my room key to be fixed.  The front desk clerk "calling her out here", Amy says do you have your ID?  No Im coming back from the the gym.  "This is the same lady who we have checked in with this trip and the previous trip.  She said, well sir security has to escort you to your room.  So I have to call my wife to come bring my wallet downstairs"glad she was there".  Taking a seat in the lobby, cold. Then my wife came down and I pulled out my wallet, my id, ny boarding pass and room key. Then literally she is checking my name on my military Id that ive showed her at least 5 times.  Face, name, realky doing a through check.  She was training somebody, but it sure was not pleasant standing there in my shorts and tshirt.  I understand security, but not a fun experience.  So always have your id, room key and players card on you.  The staff just all seemed to be in dumps, probably because of working at christmas.  I tried to tip as much as I could.  People were depressed.

We went to their cafe, Lucky Penny.  Steak was way undercooked, when I mentioned it, the waitress was kind, but thr manager only took off $5.00.  Had a few lunches there, much better.  The coffee bar there is good.  tried to buy a gentleman's pastry and he didnt like that, ok ill have some discernment there.  Dont touch people, even if you are trying to to

be kind.  Leanred my lesson on that.

Played bingo a few times and actually won a few times.  Activity that my wife and I can enjoy.  VP, the pits.  Craps table, arguging dealers.  I asked about practice rolls and they said no.  Then the dealer with heavy makeup goes on and on about cant do that in vegas.  I just ok the first time.  After she started to yell at me, I took all my bets down and walked away.  Terrible experience.

Perhaps she was just having a bad day.  Not sure.

Went to Ellis Island twice for that steak breakfast.  Totally worth it.  Rode the High Roller ferris wheel, that was fun to do once.  My cousin took us to Gordon Ramseys steakhouse.  Excellent food.  He paid the bill and let me keep the points on my ceasars card.  Found the military platnium level have free valet.  Whew saves at least $100.00 for the paris, ballys and Rio visit.

Saw Rading the Rock vault.  Venue was much smaller then when the show was at Trop.  But still great.  Again, another cousin paid for the show.  But that ok, because I played the high limit VP and hit a full house.  A $300.00 win.  Not a royal, but nice to have.  That basically paid for the show.  Still trying to get points with the online receipt for the show.  Of course the cage/rewards deak cant do anything.  Sometimes that ought to

be there theme, "nothing I can do".

Played at ventian, very expensive.  Saw the Davinci exhbit.  Expensive, $129.00 for two tickets.  still playing craps at the new horseshoe, did really well there.  Like a machine craps, but stickman and shooter.  Table was much smaller.  Could be a good place

to pratice rolling dice.  The million dollar exhibit is gone as well. Taken out due to changing the

carpet?

Saw the radiers play the patriots.  Great ending to game,  had die hard Raiders fans sitting next to us, they left three minutes early.  Tried to warn them, should of stayed to the end.  Im glad I did.  Nothing like a great ending and winning a $70.00 sportbet.

Ended at place station as my other cousin had to get out of the house.  Never have luck there.  Not as smoky as it used to be.  Played the roulette table Ive been playing since I was 21.  But brought my cousin who bought me the gordon ramsey steak dinner.  Bought in for $225, lost $184.  Took my $41.00 and walked away.  Next time ill stick to the crap table.

walked away ahead on this trip a few hundred ahead with the money in my pocket.

You did better than I did   =)   Sad to hear about Green Valley Ranch - I remember when they had some of the better rooms in town when I first started visting Vegas.      I havent been there since the buffet shut down - that used to be good to.   "Used to be" is a phrase you hear alot with the Station Casinos.

I want to see a game in Allegiant Stadium.   Hoping the Bills play there next year.

Also sad about GVR.  Used to be lovely rooms, friendly staff.  Shuttle to the Strip (Mandalay Bay) and back which was great if like us you didn't have a car.  When that was discontinued we no longer stayed at GVR.  Sad about that but sounds like things have gone south there, so just as well.

Glad Bellagio was good for you.  I love the place except no good cafe/breakfast eateries.  I still get good offers but due to family issues not able to go as often and keep up the points to make Platinum, especially since they downgraded the point earning rate.   I used to be 'friends' with many dealers and pit bosses but last trips saw very few familiar faces.

But you had some good hits and food and entertainment, so thanks for the report!
