down and out on S lv blvd

Having and uncertain number of minutes before I am auto-logged off, I will respect the reader by highlighting my 3 days of luxe living in lv.

I paid real cash to fly from Memphis. I stay in Memphis a lot; DIAD in the past and hard grinds last few years to make diamond in 2 hard grinds are now over, because business! Since having a fun but not profitable NOLA anniversary trip last august, I put some comp dollars (see ya, race promo) to work and stay at flamingo.

Diamond desk gave me a good room, and early, so I had no complaints. But as we settled in for afternoon naps, day life disco beats drummed into our heads. I realized then, Flamingo was a mistake. It only got worse with a 'thousand' frat boys running the halls.

So we had buffet there, went to play through my 4q free play (nada) and ate something non-memorable before tower of power (missed it), the steve miller band (classy, high musicality) and journey, aka Schon's self love hour. Ozzy remarked about nigel as so f...... loud way back in the day. And journey beat that by a mile. However, fun was had and all was well when I settled in to the 26th floor at flamingo to enjoy a few hours of frat boys, etc in the halls.

Early enough to mean it, I searched for options, since the frat boys were not leaving that day, a Saturday. Again, I paid real cash to move, before noon, to sunset station. Breakfast there was great, Kimberly was our server, and I made the first money of the trip, playing full pay like I mean it winning a few hundred when a straight flush filled at the dollar level. YES!

Afternoon naps at SS lacked booming noise, and we got free tix for the penn/teller atheist revival. I am glad they pump up the patriotism each show (that part of the gig hasn't changed, I suppose). It helps if you're a rebel to play nice, I guess. But the absolute stars that night, Trekkies. Kids, tribbles, all kinds of geeks, and you have already seen jmans trip report. Biggest show on earth, I hear. YES!

So Mimi's close to SS got our breakfast biz, and we got what we expected. Muffins, man! The full pay was still rolling right that morning, and napping mid day had me almost tanked up on rest. The only special for our anniversary was supposed to be a diamond comp, but we decided the binions steakhouse needed our biz, instead. So, some more real cash (yes, I coupied from LVA, and had comp dollars there) was spent, and I recommend the place. No bargain. Higher than the flame. I'll miss the flame. BW of 28 years (YES!) suggested trying out a place never before visited. I did not immediately think of TI, but immediately connected that name with vpfree's listing for 50c job, so we were off.

Second straight flush in 2 days, this time at 50c, doesn't mean a whole lot, unless you, like me, are a quarter grinder at 9/6 JOB. What that means, after the second SF: most likely I couldn't play myself out of the bankroll unless I foolishly upped the stakes and hit sh...y cards for a long streak. I played longer than I wanted and never risked ruin. Next day, we had plenty of time to catch out flight back to TN, and CET was nice enough to let me stay at horseshoe in tunica when we arrived. Tuesday meant a drive across the state and today I worked.

So if there a sympathetic readers of this screed, I'll admit I can't compete with Jman. But if you'll indulge me just a minute more, I put a rap on 'single digits' a week before taking off. Enjoy.
thank you for the report. Glad you had a good time and it was smart of you to change hotels.
Glad you enjoyed your Vegas vacation. Sounds like Flamingo's walls are pretty thin. I hate noisy hotel neighbors and never hesitate to call hotel security, but you did the best thing...get the heck outta there.
All TR's a good so thank you. I absolutely hate the Flamingo the smell just sets me off, glad you made the move and it was a profitable one.

Very nice, JM! Thanks for the report and good going on the hits and for not taking even more risk by going further up in denomination after the 50c JOB SF hit! Sorry that Flamingo was so noisy that you had to move, but at least you moved to where there is much better VP.

Thanks to all for the kind comments. As bad as it hurts to admit it, I'll be in chicago with family and tunica befoe rolling up in flamingo rd again, next month. Ah the chicken wings. At least in chicago I'll get deep dish and corkys in mississwhatever. Good luck!
You did the right thing to flee the Flamingo. Summer weekends are filled with college kids who come to have a good time. We also avoid the young crowd. I'm sure we never acted like that!
Thank you for the trip report. Sounds like the video poker at the SS was more fun for you. It really is nice at the end of an exciting day in Las Vegas, to have a nice quiet hotel room. Bet the trip went really fast. Mary
Thoughtful comments from readers encourage posters, fer sure. Did make it out of chicago alive and the million dolla race was a hoot. Surprised arlington was light in attendance. ST, Tunica, here I come . Good luck!
