Family Reunion in Vegas Day 2

Monday, July 11th Day 2
Although we went to bed after 1am, our bodies were still on east coast time and we were up at 6am. We decided to head to the fitness center at the Golden Nugget since it was included in the Gold Club room price. Check in and was provided with ear phones, a locker robe and spa slippers. Met my wife in the small workout room, where there were 3 treadmills, a stair climber, an elliptical, and 3 stationary bikes. There was a separate weight room with free weights. Adjoining the men’s locker area is a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. I had this area to myself as I was up early each day. Very enjoyable. I was offered my choice of juices each day. Each morning took advantage of the huge walk in showers, and the other amenities in the locker room. If you needed them, there were combs, razors, shaving cream, hair spray and gels, q-tips, baby powder, deodorant, hair dryers, etc. It was a nice set-up. Another plus.

We were to meet near the Golden Nugget in the lobby at 9am. Out plan today was to go for breakfast at the Omelet House on Charleston, and the head out to Red Rock Canyon to drive the scenic route.
I had phoned ahead and the Omelet House staff was very accommodating of our large group. They had 39 different types of Omelets along with other breakfast staple items. The food was great, but be warned the portions are huge. Suffice it to say that there were not too many members of the clean plate club this morning.

Back to the cars, I had filled my cooler with ice and soda as it was supposed to hover near 100 degrees today at the canyon. Of the 12 members that made this trek today, only three had been to Red Rock Canyon before. However the three of us that had been here, had been long before the remodel of the visitor center. This was another nice surprise, there was a beautiful scenic view in back of the visitor center and plenty of picture taking opportunities. We listened to a geol ogist explain how the Canyon was formed. I found this more interesting than I thought I would. We drove around the loop, stopping in a few places to take pictures. This was a nice way to spend a few hours and offered an alternative to non gambling degenerates in the family.

Next we made our way to Red Rock Resort. We had quite a few newbies this trip, and a few that rarely if ever ventured off the strip, so I thought a visit here would be in order. Another reason is that some of the family were itching to get their gamble on, and this allowed them to do so. We had tickets for the 7pm Love show and it was a little after 2pm, so we arranged to meet at 5pm to make our way to the show as I still had to pick up our tickets at will call at 6pm.

When searching for tickets for the show, I looked at several discount opportunities, but decided to take advantage of an offer that my brother in law received through a social media account. While I had found tickets up to 30% off using other offers, I found that the tickets would be almost 50% off using this code. I chose section 209 row L seats 1 through 10. They ended up at $75 a ticket plus tax. After arriving at the Mirage, I made my way to Will Call and picked up the tickets. We made our way to the seats and they were excellent! Truth be told, I don’t believe that there is a bad seat in the house, but I was very happy, since I organized this excursion. The show was outstanding! It was sensory overload at times at there were so many things happening on stage all at once. Everyone gave it an emphatic two thumbs up.
After the show, everyone was hungry so we made our way back downtown. We decided to use some two for one coupons for Magnolia’s at the Four Queens. The selection seemed to appease this eclectic group which had now risen to 14 for dinner as some that had not gone to Love wanted to join us for dinner. Food and service was good not great, but it hit the spot.

After dinner, everyone again went their own separate ways to gamble the night away.
Up next….Day 3…Golden Nugget Cabana Day
Thanks for your report. We really enjoy trip reports I print them out and we read every last one. They make the time between our trips seem a little shorter. Keep up the good work!!

Good Luck Always,
