Family trip

This year's trip included me, my husband, daughter (25), son (just turned 21) and mother-in-law. We took a 12:30pm Saturday flight. I was unsure of how Saturday arrival would be, but check-in at Harrah's was a breeze! We landed at 2:30pm and were down on Fremont St. by 4pm. I cashed in a free play coupon at 4 Queens and then we had dinner at Magnolia's. I used the 2:1 LVA coupon and could have also used the 2:1 from American Casino guide but you had to go to the players club to get a voucher (didn't read the back of the coupon!) Then we saw Mike Hammer (comedian/magician) - he was very good, especially for only $15.

Sunday we walked down to the Miracle Mile shops and had the $5.99 breakfast special (eggs, bacon or sausage, tortillas) at La Salsa Cantina. Did some shopping, then headed over to the Hard Rock Hotel to see the rock memorabilia. Got $10 free play for new players sign-up and turned it into $35. Had dinner at Mr. Lucky's - which was surprisingly good for being a "cafe". The nachos were huge! The casino was very spacious and not at all crowded. Would have stayed and played longer but we needed to get back for a show. Went to the comedy show at Harrah's and it was hilarious. One of the comedians was the cousin on King of Queens. Finished the night playing slots at Harrah's. Found a fun game (new to me) - China Moon 2 - where after 7 or more spinning streaks you choose a gem and can win various levels of jackpots. Did not have much luck choosing the right gem - but my son did! He also had some luck on Monopoly Bonus City. My daughter found her luck at the newer goldfish game. Both came home with more money than they brought!

Monday we ate at the Imperial Palace buffet. Decent food and we used coupons so it was fine for the price. I like that they just have brunch and dinner - no separate lunch. We went over to Casino Royale for the free play on the special machines. I don't know if anyone really wins but at least you are not spending your own money. We walked around the IP auto show - it was interesting and there are free tickets you can get online. Dinner was at Hash House a go go. The portions here are enormous (which we knew but our waiter also mentioned). I recommend sharing meals (the chicken pot pie, fried chicken sandwich and pork tenderloin were great! Used certificates from restaurants.com for here and Mr. Lucky's. We saved the best show for last - Human Nature! They put on an entertaining, high energy show for a solid 90 minutes without a break. I got tickets from halfpriceshows.com and the seats were good (middle, third tier). All seats are good - too close and you don't get the full effect of their harmonies.

Early, uneventful flight home on Tuesday. All in all a successful vacation - good shows, good food and brought most of my gaming allowance home !
Thanks for the TR! Looks like a great fun family trip on a reasonable budget. Great use of coupons. Congrats on maintaining most of your gambling budget.
Thanks for the report and it sounds like you all had a very nice time (especially since everyone is now of age)!

Sounds like a great time. You packed a lot in a very short trip. I went with my family in Feb and hit some of the same things including Human Nature (excellent), Hard Rock and La Salsa. Thanks for sharing.
