I have been vacationing in Vegas for about 10 years but have never shared a trip report.
This time some of the info I found out may be helpful to those who share some of the same interests as me.
I play mostly quarter video poker and bet the sports book. I will play some of the craps machines and sometimes blackjack. We love staying at Bally's. I know the rooms a not the best, but I take my shower, go to bed, clean up when I get up. Then go out all day and repeat. So as long as the room is clean and the bed is ok I am fine. Not going to Vegas to sit in my room.
First trip was to the Burger Brasserie to use 2-1. Was happy hour so we got 2-1 drinks and each got a burger. My wife got our favorite, the blue burger. I tried something new, the turkey burger. We shared and both were wonderful. This year we tried the peanut butter shake. WOW it was awesome. I will be spending the rest of my life trying to perfect that drink at home.
I made the mistake of not double checking my bill before paying. I think they did not honor my 2-1 for the burger and I think it has to do with the happy hour. Be careful when using the coupon during the happy hour.
My next stop was to take the monorail down to the Westgate to check out final four bets and baseball bets. We were going to use the 2-1, 2 day pass I printed from myVegas. The monorail booth now closes at 6:00 so there was no way to use my coupon. Hours are now 10-6:00.
Since no monorail next on my list list to go to the Tag sports bar to play some video poker and drink some craft beers. I sat down and ordered my favorite, Samuel Smith's oraganic chocolate stout. The bartender said those are not comped because it is an $8 beer. I am almost positive last year at the Tag the bartender gave us one and any other beer we wanted. He was great about introducing us to new beers we never tried before. NOT anymore. This year we were only comped the cheap or mid priced beers.
We made our way back to Ballys. My wife went to bed early, tired from the flight and I went to play video poker.
I know Bally's is not the best, but at least the 7-5 bonus progressive is somewhat fair. Well I looked and looked but they were nowhere to be found. I sat down at the keno bar to play and asked the bartender where the machines went. He called over the slot attendant. I was told 2-3 weeks ago all .25 7-5 bonus machines were changed out. He said if I found one it was just because they have not gotten to it yet. I asked if it was all Ceasars properties and he said yes. All quarter vp at all properties are being downgraded.
I wrote my contact at vp free immediately. I see that they have started updating already. If the slot attendant is correct, there will be 2 pages of nothing but Ceasars downgrades. Not only are the 7-5 progressives gone, but the attendant pointed out to me that the 6-5 bonus is not even bonus poker!! ALL quads pay 150 coins. Even Aces!!
RIPOFF!!!!!!!!
Sad. That will be it for me staying at Bally's or any other Caesar property. Between getting some good rates for my play and using the points from my credit card I always stayed free or close to it.
The employees are always very nice at Bally's. Bartenders always good. Love being able to take my north elevators right down to the sport book/pool. Not anymore.
As for the rest of the trip we had a great breakfast at Ellis Island. I love the cinnamon vanilla french toast. We had a great Easter brunch at the Hash House. Lamb chop hash was awesome!
I placed my MLB bets at the Westgate and then hit 4 deuces. Played some 7-5 bonus at the Wynn. Hard to believe the Wynn has better games than Bally's, Linq ect. Broke even, but had some good drinks. I think the Wynn has the best drinks on the strip.
Watched the final four at the sports book bar at the Bellagio. Love that bar. Drinks are excellent and the bartenders are always good. And the games are somewhat fair real 6-5 which stinks, but still better than Ballys. They have some 9-5 JOB, but every seat was filled and could not get on those.
Still had a good trip.
Thanks for reading. Hope this helps out some of you who have the same interests as me.
