Final trip to Las Vegas

My first trip to Vegas was in 1972 and I still can't wait until my next trip.
I still get a kick out of it, though I agree the crowds are getting ridiculous and detract somewhat from how much I used to enjoy Vegas.

Get out of the city during the day. Go to Red Rock Canyon, take the train ride out of Boulder, eat at the Road Kill Cafe which has awesome BBQ, see Ethel M's and the cactus garden.....
What is this Train Ride out of Boulder ?

Thank You !
We generally do not go just to be going. We always go for the first two weekends of the NCAA basketball tournament. We enjoy buying parlays and watching BB all day for two sets of Thursday thru Sunday. We usually go for a week of pool time when the Indy weather has gone north and the Vegas outdoor pools are still going strong. Finally my wife and her sister usually cruise in January so that is an excuse for my brother-in-law and I to do the manly thing and spend a week in Vegas. I do agree that without these special reasons for the trip Vegas might get a little boring as there are any number of places with reasonable pay schedules to play VP in the Midwest. I would lay 5-1 that the title of this post proves to be untrue. What think kirbyk19?
I'm going to chime in on this discussion. As someone who goes to Las Vegas/Laughlin about 10 to 15 times per year for the past 15 years, I certainly understand what you're saying.

I do agree with "time makes the heart grow fonder" remark. Perhaps it's simply time to go somewhere else for a few years. If you like to gamble (and it doesn't sound like a main purpose for you) then you can always go to some of the less popular spots--Reno/Tahoe, Tunica, Atlantic City, Laughlin.

During my Hit 'em All Nevada trip a couple of years ago, I had the BEST time just driving around the state enjoying the miles of desert landscape and visiting out-of-the-way mom and pop casinos and bars. The focus was never on gambling, it was about exploring and people watching.

I always tell newbies in Vegas that they're going to get to a point where it's simply senses overload, and let's face it--a casino is a casino is a casino and after a while, they're all the same short of the wall decorations and the dealer uniforms.

I, too, get burned out (and if anyone, I have a right to be), but somehow, I've turned my trips into adventures in writing and searching for that one place I've overlooked or missed.

If you still go to Vegas, consider not gambling at all and focus only on the things you like to do. But it does sound like a couple years break might be in the cards.

Best wishes and keep us posted.

90 percent of fun is what you make of a situation, I always look forward to Vegas, I could go to Bellagio falls, the flower displays, blown glass, look at the fish at Caesars, gamble, drink, dance?, catch a show, people watch, even walk around every week if I could. Maybe you are a bit of a Debby downer? I hate the crowds myself so I do whatever I can to avoid them. Just my two cents.
I have been going to Vegas since the late 60's, usually once or twice a year, but sometimes 8 or 9 times. The last few years when I get back home I think that I don't care if I ever go back, but after couple of months I can't wait to go again. I gamble some but mostly it's seeing the changes made since the last time and people watching. I generally stay at the same place and it feels like I'm home.
