Though I visit Vegas every month or so, I am not in the habit of putting too much time or money into the slot machines as I am a craps player. When I was there in November, my Dad (who does enjoy playing slots) was visiting as well so I had some fun playing them. We were staying at the Red Rock (which is where I have been staying and playing for about a year now and LOVE IT). I'm not sure how they rank as far as slot choices but my Dad was impressed with the offerings. I had great fun on the Sex and the City Slots (made $400 in one session and $600 in another playing the maximum of $6/pull). I also played a penny video slot machine that I can't remember the name of (it advertises more free spins, has a character on it that looks like a flame?? and turned my $100 investment into up $1,100 - also playing maximum). I didn't have much luck at the craps tables on that trip but developed a new appreciation for the slots!
Well, just got back today from another 2 night stay at Red Rock. The first night I had no luck at the tables or the slots so there is nothing to report there. However, last night was a different story. I still didn't do too well at craps - lasted at the table about an hour before I decided to go find some fun slot machines. I hit the Sex and the City - I am entertained by that one and held my own for awhile before meandering around to several other machines. I tried out the new Star Wars video slots with a $2 Million progressive. That was fun too - pulled out my $100 buy-in plus $200 in winnings. Next stop: Megabucks.
I always play a little bit on the Megabucks 3x, 4x, 5x $1 machine. So I head over with my $300 ticket (winnings from the other slots that evening) and plan to play as long as I'm able without going under $250. At $3 a pull, I know that probably won't be long. I probably played for about 10-15 minutes - every time I get close to $250, I hit for $15. I'm at around $260 when I hit the 3rd highest jackpot on the machine: 3X, 4X, 5X (with the 5X being the 5X with the megabucks symbol. The machine locks up and starts playing music, I yelp with excitement, and before I can call an attendant, Rose shows up, takes my I.D. and asks me to wait a few minutes for the pay off. I've hit for $6,600 (which is more than I've ever won on any trip to Vegas)!
This happened around 11:15 pm and my wife (who doesn't gamble) is upstairs asleep at this point. I took a picture of the machine and sent her a text in case she was up. And now I'm walking around with 66 hundred dollar bills in my front pocket! I played with a couple hundred of them and was able to put in another hour or so of play before I headed upstairs to wake up Jan to share the good news.
I'm not particularly superstitious but my mother is a big proponent of fung shui and she had recently sent me an article that included some tips for good luck when gambling. One of them was to wear red undergarments.... so I brought a red bra on the trip. I was wearing it for my big win. Of course, I was also wearing it the night before when I didn't do too well. But hey, I think it will be with me when he head to Red Rock at the end of January! My mother will be joining us on this trip (and she is a slots player) - it's a good bet that she'll be bringing some red underwear too!
Thanks for reading - and may you all hit a jackpot on your next visit!
