First Las Vegas trip in a while

I just got back from a short but enjoyable Vegas trip. It had been nearly 10 years since my last visit, so this was long overdue.

After all that time, I wondered whether I would still be in casinos' slot club databases. The answer was... it depends. Silverton, Palms, and Harrah's Total Rewards all remembered me, even though I'm now living in a different state. (Too bad, because they all had good deals for new members.) Terrible's and Plaza/LV Club didn't remember me. And of course, there were some completely new places that had sprung up where it wasn't even a question.

In the short time I was in town, there were so many deals I didn't have time to do, but I did get to do some cool stuff. Here are a few of the highlights:

1) The $100 new member loss rebate promotion at the Cosmopolitan is alive and well. This one is a no-brainer and very low-risk. You sign up for a card, request this deal, and then if you have a net loss of $100 on their machines in a 24-hour period (they count it from midnight to midnight), you can go straight to the "Identity" slot club and they immediately put $100 of free play credits back on your card.

I think the best strategy here is to take a shot while the promo is active (e.g. play 50-cent or dollar machines instead of quarters, or play mutiple lines). There's a decent chance you'll actually win instead of losing. If so, you can stop, collect your winnings, and try again the next day. The rebate offer is good until you either lose and collect the $100 rebate or until the end of the year, whichever comes first.

By the way, it was also fun to see the Cosmopolitan. It's pretty cool inside, in a different way than some of the other nice properties like the Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn, etc. And the fact that you can play quarter 9/6 Jacks or Better on their SpinPoker machine makes it even better.

2) Another incredible new member sign-up promo is at the Plaza downtown. The flyer at the slot club says you can earn $10 in free play for $250 coin-in, $20 for $500 coin-in, $50 for $1500, and $100 for $2500. By itself that would be great, but what makes the deal even better is that it's cumulative. When you get to the 500-point level, the $20 is in addition to the $10 you already received when you hit 250 points. This means that if you play $2500 coin-in, you'll collect all four of these rewards: $10 + $20 + $50 + $100 = $180. That is an insanely good cashback rate of 180/2500 = 7.2%. The Plaza has a few 9/6 JoB machines, so while the promo is active, your payback would be 99.5% + 7.2% = 106.7%. Incredible! The only catch is that you must be a new member, and you must earn your points in the first 24 hours after sign-up. Therefore, I'd recommend not signing up until you are ready and able to put in a few hours on the VP machines. You'll want to take full advantage of this promo during the 24 hours that it's active.

3) The Westin Casuarina still has an excellent deal for new members. It's a $50 loss rebate program, similar to the $100 program at the Cosmopolitan. I don't know whether you can attempt it again the next day if you end up winning instead of losing, but it's still basically a no-lose proposition either way.

After you do the loss rebate promo (not before), you should also ask about the 40-for-25 slot play deal. Basically, you pay $25 at the slot club, and they put $40 of credits on your card. Needless to say, it's a good deal.

While you're at it, they'll also give you a $10 match play coupon for the tables if you ask.

4) Along the same lines as the Cosmo/Westin deals, there is a very good LVA-only $100 loss rebate deal for Terrible's. Be sure to print out the voucher from this website before you go. You don't have to be a new member at Terrible's for this one. Existing members are eligible. I played this one the same way -- bet big while the promo is active (I played dollar machines instead of quarters). Only upon losing the $100 and getting the rebate would I then drop back to my normal stakes.

5) There is a good coupon in the American Casino Guide where you can get a buffet comp at Gold Coast for only 200 points. Playing on their 9/6 JoB machines, this will cost you on average an expected loss of $1. That's a cheap meal. Sam's Town has the same deal, but I didn't make it out there this trip.

6) This has nothing to do with gambling, but for the first time I actually went inside the Bellagio and saw the amazing botanical gardens just past the registration desk. It was awesome, and I highly recommend it. The huge chocolate fountain behind and to the left of the gardens was pretty neat, too.

7) The Venetian and Riviera have excellent free slot play coupons in the American Casino Guide. You have to be a new sign-up for the Venetian deal, but not for the Riviera.

8) There is an excellent free slot play coupon available at slotplaycoupons.com for the Palms. You can get $40 of play for only $25, or new members can get $50 for $25. Be careful when ordering the new member coupon, though. As I said before, the Palms still had me in their database after almost 10 years, so they wouldn't honor my $50-for-$25 coupon. What's more, they refused to even give me the regular $40-for-$25 deal until I called the company and had them convert it to the other coupon type. It was a bit of a pain getting all that taken care of, but still worth doing.

All in all, it was a fun trip. Hopefully it's not another 10 years before the next one!
Thanks for the report! People should also keep in mind that the new Slot Club member promo that's at Plaza is also at Las Vegas Club and they also have some other not bad VP games you can play on.

I will try to do at least a couple of these promotions while I'm there in a couple of days (hopefully)!

Thanks for the detailed deal report. I didn't have much luck with the Cosmo rebate and am about promo'ed out for this year. I hope there are more match plays and slot deals in the MRB this year.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the new info. I am heading out a the end of Nov with a person on a budget so this will come in very handy.
Thanks for the report xapianoman. One question.

Did they say specifically at the Cosmopolitan that the promo was for new signups only?

We've had different answers to this depending on who you ask.

Thanks.
Thanks for posting x.

Guwapo.........I did the $100 FP at Cosmo several months ago and I was
already a member. You did NOT have to be a new sign up.
Don't know when the dealio expires........hopefully after I Do the $100, sitting on my card.
Hoping to get there this month!

Thanks CLV.
