first trip report- some cool stuff

First, apologies for all the lurking over other reports without reciprocating. Next, apologies for missing the meet as I'd agreed to go. I wont even make an excuse. Next, the airline details will be deleted to protect the innocents. My 4 nights went: 2 at 4 queens ( comp, plus 50 dolla food credit, but I'd used up my freeplay on last months trip, boo hoo) then the hilton for the games and circus circus, which is really the reason I'm posting. The cash out was worth bragging on- left LAS more than 600 richer than I came in. The food was mostly magnolias, but i did stray to the binions counter for beans and cornbread. Now, you'd think the latter was not likely to impress a fella who has numbered pans EATEN inthe hundreds, if not thousands, but I propose to make it a crime to eat binions beans without the cornbread. And magnolias was fine on all but my last steak, ordered out of desperation to burn the last of my food credit. Let's just say there was no tenderloin side on that t-bone.

So, what can I say about royal flushes that havent already been said. They make me feel kinda warm all over. I like to get them out of the way early in a trip so I can relax. My modus operandi typically is take small winnings off dice to keep the bankroll up so i have the staying power to grind out a grand. Then I quit. This diamond flush came on saturday morning, with a bankroll so small I had no business even being in 25c machines. But out it popped, and the winnings went in the safe until check out. So marshaling the wisdom of my dentist, a huge college football fan ( guess which team, karen) I took both winners for sunday, and had a pretty exciting/miserable/tense day until both games were decided.

it was good to be the king -for a day!
Wow! Congrats on the royal! Comped rooms, good food, lots of gambling fun, *beans and cornbread*, and they paid you to do it! Isn't this a great country we live in??
Congrats on the royal. I like Magnolias, but one thing I avoid in any coffee shop is ordering a t-bone or porterhouse. They are usually too thin to cook properly. Maybe a NY and prime rib is usually ok, but avoid the t-bone brothers.

Good Luck!

Congrats on your royal, and first TR. See, they're not too bad, are they?

thanks, y'all for all the feedback, as I recognized most of your names but may not remember if we had a common member meet. The last thing I was gonna post about the trip is circus circus west tower rooms. I had a miserable manor rooms when my family-of-five drove to LV ten years ago and this trip i wanted to wash out the memory. Well, the west tower room is worth paying up for and I typically can get comped weekends at 4Q and or weekdays at HET properties. So, if nobody's had the gumption to report to the LVA, I will: the west tower is nice enough to pay for, and I will likely be back. The video poker is not remarkable, but I found full pay JOB across the street though, and i doubted I'd ever be able to say that about the strip! Good luck, and if something measured in 4 or more digits happens on next month's trip, I just might post again!
Thanks, jmradford for your nice trip report, congratulations on your nice Royal Flush (and leaving with most of your winnings intact) and it was good meeting up with you at the LVA MM in November!

This is a Smart Gambler.

Nice Trip Report.
Thanks for taking the time to write and share,

Rick
Thanks for your report and congrats on the royal!!
I enjoyed meeting you and the others last Nov at the meet. You had a great trip.
I appreciate the compliments on 'smart'. Maybe the state of TN didnt waste money educating me after all. I will be candid here; i had little or no money management skills in the days i drank and gambled. And to the folks i hope to see again at meets: my lapse of attention to the sunday meet was horrible manners. mea culpa. Good luck!

Yes, Money Management and most especially Discipline are very important in casino gaming!

I say that because it is very easy (and casinos want players to do it) for players to get carried away and into the frame of mind that when they win, that they are then playing with "The Casino's Money."

This thought should really be purged from players' minds because players need to realize that the second that they win money, it then and there becomes their new property. And so players should be thinking what is best to do with their new money -- it really should be to leave with it (or at least as much of it as possible) and live to fight another day.

Another good thing for smart players to do is to not go crazy with the new money such as ramping up play to a higher denomination level. This can increase the likelihood of the player losing the new money.

In the end, I think that it all boils down to whether the player is playing to play (that is playing for the sake of playing) or whether they are actually playing to win. There is a big difference between the two!
