Sigh. Posted with a quick trigger apparently....
Low rolling low detail trip I took no notes on.
Flights- southwest direct out of RDU. Purchased early bird on both segments. Rebooked a month or two later at a lower price and they never applied it. Still managed to check in and get an A pass but only because I noticed no EB notification. Easy flights both ways. Flight in landed early, grabbed my bag, taxi, and got to the Flamingo 10 minutes before we were even scheduled to land.
Hotel- Flamingo basic room with High Roller view. Offer of 3 free nights and $25 free play. My first bookable free play offer. Checked in at the front desk (mistake) and told to come back at 4 or there would be an extra charge. 1-2 pm went to VIP services (platinum) and got checked in immediately. Room was serviceable. I like the location and do most of my gambling here so it works. Thurs night was <$30 and friday was $87.
Gambling- I play poker. A lot. The cheap stuff. Averaged 10-12 hours a day of 2-4 limit poker. Never going to win much, never going to lose much. Fun times, low stress, easy drink service, and love to BS with the dealers and other players. Hit a King high straight flush for a $100 bonus one evening.
The Flamingo Poker room has a bad beat jackpot that I actually saw go down at my table. Four Kings beat Four Threes and there was a lot of yelling, screaming and rejoicing. The losing hand netted $14,700, the winning had $7K, the rest of us at the table got $545 and the rest of the players in the room $270. My highest Vegas jackpot ever.........and all for folding my hand and sitting on my ass. Lovely times.
Played for a few hours at the Mirage- the poker room is in serious decline. Dirty chips, dirty felts, and TVs with horrible burn in. Wont be going back.
Slots- Lost $100-150 over the trip. Goldfish kicked me in the nuts, The Hangover did me OK.
Food-
Hash House a Go Go at the IP- good prices, huge portions, satiating. Love sitting at the bar here.
Guy Fieri's- Bacon mac and cheese burger. Holy crap. Comes with a random medley of fry types. Expensive but pretty unique. Seating at the bar was the way to go- 20-30 minutes wait when I meandered by here and there.
Toby Keith's - just wanted to do some cowboy watching. Fried bologna and cheese sandwich. Pretty sure I was the only one there w/o a cowboy hat. Good people watching though.
Flamingo tropical breeze cafe- breakfast a few times. Good waffles, omelettes leave some things to be desired.
Flamingo Pizza joint- 24 hour place near the cafe. Skip the food court- this place is better and cheaper. Several nights saw me stumbling to the room to satiate the beer munchies with a gigantic slice and a drink.
Probably ate elsewhere but know a few meals were liquid based at tables....
Shows- yeah not this trip. Just watching cowboys everywhere.
