Slept like a rock at the Paris. Unbelievably comfortable beds. We were at the end of the hallway on the 8th floor so it was very quiet. I forgot to mention at the Flamingo, we were more towards the elevators and often heard the drunk frat boys coming home in the wee hours of the morning. So the Paris was exceptional for quiet and comfort. The fact that during our stay there was a Deaf Senior convention, probably helped, everyone was silent. Loved it!
So it's Monday morning. We're well past the half way point of our trip, having a great time, but truthfully we're starting to miss the kids and beginning to get gambled out. I had been wanting to try the Wizard of Oz slots for a few days now. I remembered reading about this game on LVA, but every time we tried the bank of four at the Paris they were full, so up until this day we didn't have any luck finding or getting on one.
What to do for breakfast? We decided to shuttle over to Rio from Paris for their 2-for-1 buffet. Of course it's 8am in the morning when we're ready to leave and the shuttle doesn't start until 10. Tony can see it down Flamingo as we stroll down the strip and says, we can walk that. I say ok...lets go.
So we did it. We hiked from the Paris to the Rio for their buffet (and then some). Again, it was early so the temps hadn't reached their peak. The walk wasn't bad either, they have a sidewalk for peds the entire way.
The Rio buffet was good, but not as good as the Flamingo IMO. I ordered two eggs from the omelet station over medium. Using the 2-for-1 the cost was $15.
After breakfast we found two empty Wiz of Oz slots. Yeah! I slipped in a hundred and Tony stood behind me to see what this game was all about. He enjoyed cheering me on in the emerald city but after awhile decided to try his own luck and stuck in $40 in the machine next to me. Well we played and played and played. I hit some good bonus rounds and bet anywhere from 30 times 1 to 30 times 5 most spins.
Eventually both of us were down to about six dollars. Tony spun again and got the bonus round. We were disappointed he didn't get to the Emerald City (as that's where everyone wants to go when they hit the bonus right?) but went to the Monkey bonus instead. His 8 spins led to 8 more spins, which was cool and then the monkeys appeared and tore off all the wild cards. He got the BIG WIN which was about $38. I left the session with nothing, but he cashed out with $44. Overall a net loss of $96 between the two of us. DOH.
We decide to walk over to the Palms from the Rio to use our mps and buy some wincards. The club-ling looked at us like we were nuts when we asked to buy wincards. After a while she said it was only for people who were staying at the palms
Anyway, we each had $10 in free slot play and $20 each in mps we made quick work of. Net win after running all that through at the Palms was +$80. Guess we didn't need the wincards afterall.
It was midday by now and time for a drink. We had free drink coupons and two $5 mps at the Gold Coast so we headed back across the street. I ordered two margaritas and tony had two bottles of beer...all free at the bar. We used our mps on BJ and played a little more besides. During our BJ session I got one more drink, so although we lost $15 at GC we walked out of there w/five free drinks...good trade off.
We walked back to Rio from GC and took the shuttle back to the Paris. We decided it was a nice day to head downtown and see what damage we could do there. We didn't want to drive as we'd already started drinking so I suggested we walk the one mile to the wynn and take the Duece downtown from there.
I had never been in the Wynn and also wanted to sign up for a card there. I've heard about the Wynn's 'opulence' so was excited to check it out. It is opulent indeed but I don't know about the gaudy red and royal purple color scheme.
On the way to the Wynn I decided to stop at Bill's for two 99 cent margaritas. I had a giant water cup w/ice I poured them into so they stayed cold from Bill's to the Wynn. While there Tony noticed a roulette table was showing 7 black numbers in a row. I ran over there and threw $20 on red...a few other guys had black chips on red, so everyone felt like it was going to hit...and it did. I was excited, I got 20 of my originial 60 loss at bill's back. Woo-hoo.
It was now onto the Wynn. We each got ten dollars in free slot play for signing up. Tony made a beeline for 50 play VP, and I noticed they had single zero video roulette. It was a $1 minimum machine however, so a little rich for my taste, but what the heck, we're up a little on this trip. I threw in another hundred dollar bill and spun the wheel. I cashed my original hundred out at $151 and tony made $10 on his free slot play. We got the heck out of there with our +$61 profit. Thanks Steve!
Hopped the Duece for downtown. The fare was $3 per person each way, so for $12 round trip, I didn't think it was bad, much cheaper than a cab I'm sure.
We get downtown and Fitzgerald's is the first joint I see. I use my mp's on roulette there and win them both. I like Fitzgerald's and come back to it much later that day(after dinner) because I noticed they had my single zero video roulette with 5 cent minimums...now that's more like it.
We next hit Binions where we had our million dollar photo taken. We also had coupons for non-negotiable chips, matchplays, and free slot play. tony of course went to his VP and BJ. I played the free spin penny slots again at max bet and then used my NNC's at their roulette wheel along w/mps. In the end we left Binions +$41 and headed to the El Cortez for dinner.
We had some free slot play coupons for the El Co which we burned through before dinner. We walked into the Flame with an El Co win of +$40. I should mention we we're seated at exactly 4:15. I ordered the 8 oz filet and Tony had the NY strip. We ordered two sides and split them, the garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Everything was fantastic. Five forks for the El Co. Our waitress was great. After the $25 off coupon our bill was only $31.00. We gave her $45 and said our good-byes to the El Co after I couldn't get on their 25 cent roulette tables (full).
We decided to go our separate ways after dinner. I wanted to hit the Single Z VR at Fitzgerald's and Tony wanted to go back to Binions. They had an offer $25 in slot play for $20 he wanted to do.
I put in my $20 Fitz win from earlier that day and began to spin. Had a great waitress who brought me endless michelob ultras. By the time Tony showed up (he broke even by the way at Binions) I was pretty buzzed. My $20 was now $60, but Tony was a jinx because he ended up sitting next to me and losing $40 in his VR before we left.
It was dark by now and we took in the Fremont street experience and light show. Awesome. Love the Downtown area. We capped off our session with a coupon run to the Vegas Club and Plaza played them all on BJ. Tony doesn't do good on video BJ for whatever reason, but he's a lucky S.O.B. at the tables. He won all his and I lost all mine. Overall take at Plaza/VC/Fitz's was +$60.
We took the Duece back to the strip, got back to the Paris through Bally's where I won another quick $5 passing through.
In summary, between Rio, Palms, Gold Coast, Bill's, Wynn, Bally's and Downtown we ended up +$130 on the day.
