Frampton's Flying Circus

This was a trip to Chactaw Durant Casino Saturday night.

Frampton's Flying Circus was the main event. What was strange is their event center is totally away from the casino/hotel. It is a 1/4 mile away. They have shuttles to take and return you.

On to the show... The show was supposed to start at 8pm. It started about 810.

First was Steve Lukather. Who? Anyway found out later he had opened for Frampton so many years ago and they are still friends. One guitar riff after another. I was not impressed with his singing either. One hour of this.

I was ready to cut out after 1/2 hour of this guy. "I'll stay for Frampton.

Then Rick Derringer comes out another friend of Frampton's. This guy had been with a lot of rock bands Frampton said and named some of them. He played some recognizable old rock songs and did a good job. The audience liked him.

Now Frampton... LONG guitar riffs finally a recognizable song... more guitar riffs.
After three recognizable oldies I left. It was 1100. He did put on a long show. I had been told by the lady selling Frampton doo dads that his last song after going off stage and then being coaxed back by the fans was While My Guitar Gently Weeps. She had said you never know how long the concert will be as it depends on how much fun Frampton and the audience are having as to how long he goes.

I then shuttled over to the casino where I joined my lovely wife who had said earlier that I'll join you when I hit this jackpot...she never made it to the concert. She said she was worried that I would be mad she didn't make it to the concert. I could never be upset with her.

My only regret was that I didn't have my good looking wife next to me at the concert. Wifey would have been out of there after 15 minutes of guitar riffing. My only issue was being self aware there sitting by myself.

Summary: Unless you like many guitar riffs this show would not be for you.
Evidentally Frampton has a new album coming out fraught with guitar in it.
THe last time I saw him in Las Vegas he played all the old songs and it was great!!
And Frampton can be so awesome, what a shame. I saw Heart at the LVH several years ago and didn't realize they had a new album coming out. They sang like 5 of their greatest hits and that was it! And, while they do tend to go hard rock and 'screamy' on some songs... all the new ones were like that.

I've never been so trashed at a concert as I was at that one. There really wasn't anything to do but stand at the bar, slam captain and cokes, and bitch about the lack of classic Heart songs with fellow disappointed Heart fans. I feel your pain.

No more oldie concerts for me unless I'm convinced there's no hidden agenda!
