A couple days before my trip, I became a member of a very special club - i phone users. Translation, I need to learn how to use a new phone including hitting the correct buttons when using the car's bluetooth. I had my mother call me 3 times on Sunday and only answered the phone properly once. This is significant because I had an 8 am business call Tuesday. Had I figured out the phone stuff, I would have taken the call in the car and been somewhere between Wickenburg and Wickiup. I then would have arrived in Vegas in time to have lunch with my friends from Chandler. I'm sorry it didn't work out for us to get together.
Instead I rolled into CP around 1:30 pm. Drive was easy and uneventful. Love, LOVE that they have valet parking for diamond/7* outside the entrance to Augustus Tower. Also love that they upgraded me from Palace to Augustus, fountain view. No groveling necessary.
Time to play before meeting my anonymous friend, not to be confused with my invisible friend, at Paris. It was great seeing you and 6 years is waaaay toooooo long. At Caesars, I won $20 on this - first time wining anything on this game.

Later that night, I enjoyed a burger at Munchbar. Food was good, service so so. They seemed short staffed. I sat at the counter and a man sat near me. It seemed like it took forever for them to acknowledge him. He said 10 minutes. Some guy rudely told him the bartender would be right with him. She came back to our area. He complained. In trying to sooth the situation, the 20 something bartender told him to chill out. He than asked to speak with the manager. The 20 something manager also didn't get it. In our conversation, he told me he was in town for a doctor's conference and recently performed a successful brain surgery. Also said he was friends with a F/B manager at CP. I guessed where that complaint was going and said I understood and agreed with him.
I then left and went back to the nickel stp spin poker machine. YES! Caesars Palace has a lone 5c stp spin poker machine. Before going to eat, I got aces on one hit and a straight flush on another. No pics. I go back to the machine. Some guy is playing my machine. I look again and recognize him per his facebook photo. Me "Are you Danny?" Him " ahh, yeah." (may not be direct quote). I introduce myself and also had the pleasure of meeting Rachel. Not quite the drunk stumble I imagined, as no one including me appeared drunk. It was great meeting you.
Next day I had a lovely lunch with Sue and Pat at Cannery. Signed up for a players card so I could spin the wheel and received $5 in fsp. I made $1.79 off the fsp and spent $80 in the casino. I played once on 6.25 and so far have received 2 emails from them.
I played at Palms for a few hours in February. Basically everything I touched was golden. Day 1 at Palms was the polar opposite. Day 2, my birthday, I had a net win of $100. I spent the morning of Day 2 at Drift Spa having used the travelzoo $69 certificate for a massage. Spa was not busy and QUIET. Drift Spa is my new favorite Vegas Spa, quality facilities, not busy, friendly staff and quality massage.
At check in, I told the cute young man I was there for my birthday and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades. As he was looking, I was thinking ahead. I need to break a $20 so I'll have change for tips. To remind myself, I pull the $20 out of my wallet and keep it in plain sight. The next thing, the nice man face lights up, smiles and says I have one level up, and gestures up. Room is 1000 square feet and on a high floor. He gave me room 53107, highest floor for rooms in the Ivory Tower. If anyone asks, the $20 trick works at Palms and I gave him the $20.
I charged everything at Palms to my room and was able to use the LVA MRB coupon at check out.
Non gambler friends from home were also in town as husband attended the doctor's conference. Vegas to them is similar to when they visit NY, fine dining, nice rooms and shows. Thank you to whomever posted the link for "Summer of Cirque" as they used that for 3 shows. They treated me to birthday dinner at Sensi and to LOVE. Our martinis were perfect. Friend's hubby said his manhattan was as good if not better than any one he ever had in NOLA. I'm not a huge Cirque fan as I'm too literal. While others are watching the artistry, I watch the how the acrobats wrap their feet around the ropes. However, I do like Beatles music and thoroughly enjoyed the show.
We cabbed to Mirage then walked back to Bellagio. In front of Caesars, they were filming a scene for an upcoming feature film. It was okay to walk by but security would not let anyone stop and look. I saw 3 unkown actresses dressed in club wear, dresses down to here and up to there. Sorry, anonymous friend. I didn't notice their shoes.
Prior to meeting friends, I had a glass of birthday bubbly at Hyde.

On June 23, I booked a room at Harrahs Laughlin for Friday just in case. The only thing that came up comped was North Tower regular room. I also knew they would have no problem reselling the room if I cancelled at the last minute. I decided to wait until the end of the week to decide if I would sleep there or at home Friday night. I really hated to leave the suite at Palms yet didn't want to pay retail for the room. Since I didn't need to be home until Saturday morning, I spent Friday night in Laughlin and drove home early Saturday before the afternoon heat set in. One thing about HL, if you arrive early, you have a chance of upgrading your room. No groveling was necessary. They had me in a South Tower, high floor corner room with a very nice view of the river. Gambling was a repeat of day 1 at Palms.
Hit 2 nice 4 of a kinds at Palms on my birthday.
