Thanks for the info! I have to sit and debate this -- who knew I would be confronted with the eternal classic "Where is my line in the sand?" from asking a simple question?
My cerebral cortex sputters and resets when faced with these decisions. I have done many a Dancer-esque questionable thing in my time, but I have also passed on many that didn't feel quite right. Some of the things I did in my youth were embarrassing and may have crossed a line, like throwing hissy fits about needing a free meal after winning mid five digits on a SB future at Mandalay Bay. I also remember occasionally adopting a Dancer attitude later in life and eating a Hampton Inn breakfast buffet a time or two when the LuxBus to LV actually picked up at the hotel next door. Was that theft? Yeah, but the food wasn't going anywhere but the trash. LOL. I have little in the way of financial morals (I'm from Molly Maguire country, for those who know what that means).
But I try to be fair. Whatever that might mean. Probably no faux ticket for me...unless a tree falls on my house that month that isn't covered by insurance. Then God (and the D) will be held responsible and I will extract my pound of flesh (or free hot dog or free play or whatever).
As Mr. Spock said, "Fascinating. Just fascinating."
Ethics is a significant issue for any advantage player. How far are you willing to go for a good/positive play? Me, I have a fairly strict standard, simply because I've complained bitterly about the many, many, many, many, many, many, many instances of the casinos doing something ethically questionable that was technically within the rules but still, shall we say, a dick move. I thus don't feel I get to adopt an "anything goes" mentality.
And for what it's worth, whatever that line "should" be, I feel that Dancer has happily jumped over it dozens if not hundreds of times--and he hates my guts for having said so. The thing is, he "grew up" in AP heaven, at a time when you didn't need to fudge your ethics to find and exploit good plays, And now, he--you would think--should be comfortable enough financially that he doesn't need to skate. Yet, then and now, he seems to have had very few compunctions.
But yes, if you feel slighted and the gods owe you a hot dog, all bets are off. Damn the ethical torpedoes!
