Funny TSA crap

Thanks, drmilled. No worries.
I find it funny, in the sense of being strange, that when my wife and I fly, one or the other of us get the TSA pre-check pass. We travel several times a year, and have never got the pre-check at the same time. It never fails, one of us gets to go thru with almost no wait, while the other one gets to stand in line, scrutinized, scanned, checked and rechecked.
Ironic. Something that would likely happen to me too.
....... and what happens to the multitude of cans of shaving cream, bottles of shampoo, jars of skin cream, etc,
all probably unopened and newly purchased just for the long awaited and anticipated vacation ???,
not to mention pocket knives, cigarette lighters, and other sometimes cherished personal items ???

? ? ? ? ? ? ?

They store them for door prizes at the employee Christmas party.

Sign up for TSA pre-check Known Traveler Number (KTN). $85 good for 5 years. Your airport probably has an office. Go to the web site where you fill out an online form, make an appointment (or just walk in) and gather the documents it tells you you'll need, e.g. DL, birth cert, marriage license for wife if her name changes, different things depending on how you answer the questions. Very easy, though.

Some don't think it is worth the $85 for 5 years, because like you said sometimes you luck out and get it anyway.

P.S. We already had three flights scheduled before we got our KTN. I called the airline (SWA) and the guy entered the numbers for all three flights, easy breazy.
Candy, I was just going to suggest the same thing. We did this a few months ago and it's been great. No waiting in long lines to get through security. Just walk up to the TSA line and go right through. Also don't have to strip and take off shoes unless there is metal in them. I don't even bother with the quart size bag for toiletries because you don't have to take it out.

Ditto, Rosemarie. Hubby had nagged me since they came out with it to get it done (on ME to make it happen of course...LOL). Finally on a recent flight home he noticed the TSA office in our airport and posters to get signed up. I had worried it would be a complex ordeal, but it couldn't have been easier, and we had our numbers within a few days.

His favorite thing is not having to take his laptop out of the case. And the shorter line.
