get our money back trip 5-30

Our 4th trip to Las Vegas this year.  We flew Allegaint for 312 for both of us round trip.  Rental car was with hertz for 231 for the week all in.  We could have used fox for 190, but we were getting in really late, and no lines at hertz. We got a volvo with lots of new tech that was hard to get used to , but a fun car to drive.

Our first 2 nights were at Aliante, comped with 20 food and 30 free play.  The rooms out here are gteat, and we always sleep really good.  We got checked in and went down to get some our money back just before 1 am.  We were thirsty, and the drinks were good, and we were hitting some stuff until about 4 in the morning, when we had to shut things down.  I hit 3 6 spots playing dimes, and the wife hit a buch of quads playing dime ultimate x.  2s with a kicker on triple w with a multipier, aces on double double no kicker x4 and a buch of other stuff.  Fun night.  Up a couple hundy.  I will try to post more in the xext few days

Great Start!  Hopefully the luck kept going for you both.

Looooong way from the airport to Aliante. When that place opened, I wondered if it would survive, as its isolated location meant that there would be ZERO tourist patronage...which in turn meant that they were planning on the immediate area filling up with McMansions. At the time it opened, though, the area was still a blank slate. It was not unlike Durango and a couple of other Stations properties...the bizarre Vegas notion of, if we want to develop a neighborhood from scratch, we don't put in roads, or businesses, or parks, or schools, or even sidewalks; we build a casino and count on everything coalescing around it. And so it has gone. But Stations didn't have faith in Aliante, and ultimately pitched it to Boyd when revenues weren't as good as they wanted.

I'm curious how you wound up being an Aliante customer in the first place, as this was evidently not your first visit. What drew you all the way north to that place?

Memory fades, but didn't our long-ago prolific poster Sue Casey work a short time at the Aliante players club?  I'm pretty sure Larry the Limo Guy did the same for a short time after moving to Vegas, before before establishing himself with a Limo service.  Never heard what became of Sue, or Larry for that matter.

Then again, I could be making all that up.  Growing old does that.  Cheers!

I meant to add, thanks Brent Kline for reporting on your trip.  Looking forward to the rest.

Kevin the reason we started going out there was the 2 for 1 buffet coupon in the LVA or the American casino guide.  I can't remember which one for sure.  It used to be a great buffet, and at the time the players card wasn't yet tied to Boyd.  Good vp everywhere and clean air.  Does everyone remember before all the buffet coupons we had the 2 for one mexican coupons at the Suncoast and Gold Coast.  When they closed we had the ones from Palace Station and the two great ones at the two Fiesta properties..  The coupons were the reason we started to go to all those places.

Day 2 Saturday we had breakfast at fresh market cafe at Aliante.  We split the pancakes and used our may food comps.  Using our food credit and free play is our plan for this last day of may. After playing a little and getting some waters for the road we headed to the Palms.

We had 25 in free play and 10 in food.   I had a nice hit on a Egyption  slot for a hundy, and not much else. The wife hit the Dragon Links for a nice win and then we hit the cafe to split a club sandwitch.  It is nice to see the Palms doing well and giving out a few goodies.

Next stop is Resorts World , where the wife has 50 free play and 25 food credit.  Not sure why I am not getting anything these last 2 trips.  We had some nice drinks at the bar , but everything we won went back into the machines. It was still a good place to play on a busy saturday.  We used our food credit at Viva mexican resturant  for the happy hour steak tacos.  They were just okay for free, but this place is way over priced.

We decided to skip downtown today.  We have free play and food credit at Circa, but thaought it would be too busy and smokey for the effort.  So we headed to the Sante Fe Station to watch the end of the gane and cash in some sports book bets from our last trip. We couldn't hit anything at the bars and decided to get a way keno ticket before eating at the cafe.  Well after sitting at the counter for 20 mins we were not getting waited on other than waters, so we walked out.  Latisha was packed too so we ended up leaving and picked up some fish sandwitches from mcdonalds on the way back to Aliante.    After playing for a few hours we called it a night. Saturdays are always so crowded, and we never seem to do very well.  Down a little for the day.

I will post more tomorrow

There are several places that I first visited because I had an LVA coupon---and I almost certainly wouldn't have otherwise. Some of them, like Circa, I'll never set foot in again, but others, like Emerald Island, have made me a loyal customer. I'm mystified that so many Vegas casinos have chucked the coupon idea overboard. The cost of a matchplay or a meal coupon is trivial--and you might create a loyal customer.

For me at least, there's a psychological element as well. Who would I rather give my gambling business--the Strip megatoilet that sneers, "Be glad we let you in the front door, PEASANT," or the off-Strip property that says, "Drop on by and try us, and we'll give you $10 free play for your trouble"?

I think Sue was doing that 15 years ago....Im sure she's completely retired by now.      Hopefully she is still with us.    There used to be another poster here who worked at the players club at Gold Coast.   Cant remeber his name.    Long time ago.

I wonder what kind of perks/discounts you get for being a basic part time employee like that.     MIght be a fun little side hustle in early retirement.

PJ, I think that is a good question to submit for a QoD.  "What  kind of perks/discounts [maybe even salary] do basic part time Players Club employees earn?"  Something like that.   Send it in!

Kevin, I don't know how you had presented yourself at any of the Strip properties, but we never experienced that kind of rudeness.  We enjoy the high-toned atmosphere since we are in the low to mid rung of gamblers.  The comps are (to us) significant, and we are always 'treated' as if we are appreciated.

But, hey, it is all relative.
