Not nearly enough trip reports so I will do this one from memory.
Thursday May 26.
Pick wife up at work at noon. Head to Great Lakes Brewery for lunch then off to Cleveland Hopkins Airport. Check in and security was a breeze. Off to Quaker Steak and Lube for a brew before 5 ish departure. Uneventful direct flight on Southwest. Scored exit row and even was able to use some expired drink coupons thanks to really great flight attendant. Landed a little early and off to rental car facility. Of all my times renting a car this is the first that Hertz was the cheapest. Off we go in our little Chevy Spark.
First stop was Green Valley Ranch for the dinner buffet. After ten minutes in a line that did not move we opted out of this and moved over to Pizza Rock. Very good spicy picante pie. After the pizza we gambled a little and lost a little. Next to Gold Coast. Check in was smooth and efficient with the nice fellow offering me a room close to the elevator and on the second floor looking at a really nice wall. I declined and he typed a little more and found a room half way down the hall on the fourth floor. I accept. On our trek to the room we find out we are not half way down the hall but all the way, next to last room. That is ok I need the exercise. Good night.
Friday May 27.
Up and about around 7am. Down to the casino for a little early morning gambling. We used to play mostly video poker but due to some luck over the last few years we have been hooked on Buffaloes. After a little play we cashed out about even on Buffalo and headed for breakfast. The Original Omlette House was my choice this morning. Alittle hard to find but well worth it. This place has been here for a long time and I just now found it. We will return. From here we head down to Main Street Station. We play JOB here for the afternoon and cash out with a small loss. Do the Freemont St. walk. Stop at Binions and play the free machine out front, move into the free machine inside then wife gets a players card and we play all the freebies for new signups. Free ace on blackjack, blackjack matchplay, and then $10 slotplay after earning 10 points. Free picture with the 1 Million dollars, we now have over 50 of these. Kind of interesting to look back at these and watch yourself age, get fatter, lose more hair while the rest of it turns grey.
Next stop was a walk through the Golden Nugget. Wow packed again as always. Some big punk rocker thing going on and it was quite an interesting show to watch all of the people. I think with the hair that some of these kids had their parents must have been peacocks. So many colors of hair and the craziest mohawks you have ever seen. as well as all of the piercings, tattoos, and clothing choices. this was quite the show.
Stopped into the high limit slot area to visit our favorite ATM slot machine. $25 single coin Triple Diamond. Plan was to insert $100 spin twice and cash out. First spin nada, second spin bar, triple diamond, triple bar. Cash out $425 good bye Nugget. Over to Freemont to sit at bar and slow play some Keno for free drinks. No go bar was full.
Next stop of the day was South Point. We tried the Mexican Restaurant which was a lousy choice. bad food bad margarita. We then played around this casino trying many of the Buffalo machines. maybe a small loss then on to the sports book to make a wager on tonights Cavs game. $100 parlay Cavs -6 1/2 and over 198 1/2. Cavs eventually cover and I barely squeak by on the over at 200. $360 cash out. After the South Point we head back to Gold Coast and get a seat at the bar to watch the game. I really enjoyed sitting here watching the Cavs and playing video poker drinking free Crown and diet. After the game we bounce around Gold Coast playing Buffalo and eventually call it a night.
Saturday May 29th.
Uh oh. This is the day the wheels fall off.
We start the morning at the Gold Coast playing Buffalo and getting our ass kicked. - $300 and off to breakfast before we even saw a cocktail waitress.
The Egg and I is the breakfast choice this morning. This is one of my go to places every trip as it is always good and did not disappoint today either.
Next stop Outlet Mall North. Now what? Hmm! I've got it. The M.
This place The M use to give us really good rates if not free rooms and is still one of my Vegas favorites. But after the takeover by Penn National we cant even get a discounted room. In we walk and head straight for the old Tractor Bar. Back by where Hash House a GoGO used to be. what a great surprise to see the dear Nancy still working here. She really is a Vegas Gem. Played video poker for a few hours while catching up with Nancy. She even called a host over and explained our situation with never being taken care of since Penn took over. Host gave me her card took mine and said next time she will take good care of us. Wahoo.
I am getting hungry and I need to have my fix of Lucielles BBQ. We arrive and take a seat in the bar area and get wonderful service along with a great meal. This is my favorite place to eat in Vegas.
With a full belly we waddle out pick up a twelve pack and head back to Gold Coast. The plan tonight is to park at the top of the parking deck grab the beer and listen to the live broadcast of tonights Jimmy Buffett concert from Frisco Texas while enjoying the lights and views of the Las Vegas Strip. Opened the trunk turned up the music and enjoyed the moment. Well as we were really enjoying the spoiler had to show up and try to ruin the evening. Gold Coast Security said we were not allowed to loiter on the parking deck. Well after a short discussion he saw we posed no threat to the security of the Gold Coast and agreed to let us stay until the concert was over. After the concert ended we did as promised and cleaned up our beer bottles and went inside. Somewhere else throuout this day we lost a bunch more money. Maybe about another $500. Ouch.
Sunday May 29.
Woke up and walked right past the Buffalo. Did see a cocktail waitress and traded$1 for two waters. Back to Egg and I for breakfast. Wonderful as always.
Next we head down and park at the Westin. Really nice looking place inside as we stop in for a quick stop. Walk up to the strip with a stop to poke our head into the Stage bar. Interesting but a little to smoky for me. We mosey our way to the Flamingo while enjoying the vibe of the strip. Could not believe the line of people waiting to get into the pool at the Cromwell. We get to Flamingo and I go to sportsbook to cash my ticket from the Superbowl. Now I feel better as I have just recovered most of my losses from yesterday. We end up walking down to Margarittaville and enjoy a cold one while watching people walking the strip. Next just a slow walk over to TI then back to the Forum Shops as wife wanted to see something at Tiffany's. Ouch$$. We stroll through Caesars then cross back over to the Cromwell. I can't resist and donate another $60 to the Buffalo here. Back to car and decide on Margaritas at the Pink Taco. The hard rock is crawling with people dressed for the pool. Also a giant line here waiting to get into the pool. Amazing what some of these ladies wear to the pool and walk around the casino. Most of them needed a little more suit to hide all of the cheeseburgers and fries they have been eating in college. We were both actually surprised by this. The tv show nevr showed all of these guys and gals, only the fit and buff looking ones made the show. Ok now that I probably made some people angry I will move on. We enjoyed way to many Margaritas while playing video poker at the bar. Broke even during this time then saw the darn Buffalo as we exited the Pink Taco. Goodbye Ben Franklin$$. From here we went to Donna Marias for some margaritas and tamales for dinner. Next up was the final evening of gambling at the Gold Coast. Tonight was pretty much uneventful.
Monday May30.
Wake up early to head back home. Stop by the Buffalo one last time to donate another $100 before checking out. Room total was $111 for the four nights. Quick run to the Coranado Café at South Point for breakfast then back to the airport. Check in was easy then getting through security was not to bad. Very long line but it never stopped moving. Flight home was on time and again scored exit row and free drinks for the holiday. Flight attendant let us have a four rounds free as she said not many people were drinking. We landed safely in Cleveland and that is all until the next time. Fourth of July at the Golden Nugget with another couple.
