golden age of posters

I found out about the LVA from being a member of [email protected]. Then it changed names and then changed names again to [email protected]. We had quite a few posters back then that I haven't heard from in years. There was David who used to sell Calanders that helped a womans shelter and a few others. I met quite a few of these members at meets we used to have. I remember one where we all brought regional food. I brought Pickled bologna. As usual most of the people didn't like it. LOL
Hey Now!
I haven't been around forever, just a few years, but it has gotten pretty quiet. Flip posts on the AC One Message Board, and a couple of other EC boards. I am gonna make sure to stop by and meet Sue this trip. Anybody else gonna be around for Labor Day?
I used to spend about an hour catching up on new postings, now it takes me about 15 minutes. The political threads got out of hand and maybe that turned off a lot of people. I also don't understand the personal attacks that some posters were subjected to.
We don't go to Vegas every year like we used to so I don't read/post on LVA like I used to but just like sionow I renew the online subscription every year to keep in the loop a little bit and have it available for when I do need the current Vegas/gambling scoop. I miss reading the hardcopy of LVA. I would still read those each month if I got them. Don't bother with reading the online copy anymore. I might read one or two since we are going to Vegas next month.

Having said all that, I miss the following two posters...(1) BearnAngel - the first LVA'r I ever met. Met Bob by chance on our first trip (actually 2nd ever - 1st was in 1992) to Vegas in 2002. We were sitting next to each other playing vp at the Mirage and I had just joined LVA prior to our trip. I happened to ask him if he was a member and he was so we had a good conversation over some vp. (2) MaryLou who was featured on an episode of Casino Diaries (miss that show too!).

Bob, MaryLou are you out there lurking???

David selling calendars for the women's shelter was David Berman - I remember him from my old Prodigy days - if you don't remember Prodigy, you are too young. I think he was from Mass. and was going to retire in LV. I don't remember when I actually started reading the LVA newsletter, but it was several years before I joined the online version. Lots of folks have come and gone, but when you think about it, lots of folks have come and gone in your personal lives as well. I've ofter wondered what became of the folks on the old Prodigy BB's - their LV section was always quite active.

I love reading the reports of people's adventures to Vegas and beyond. A lot of the folks have changed since I joined in 2005 but many have stuck around. I know that some were upset by different policies and people being rude.

I look at it this way, I love reading everyones comments and their trip activities. When I first started reading, Sue was not living in Vegas, Jon was still teaching (before retirement #1), cat was sending her lucky glitter, not to mention all the other folks.

Please keep posting and sending your trip reports. Some of the reports are old now, not many new ones posted. Love all the little comments and side notes.

Thanks

Karen
Roy, I believe David Berman passed away a few years ago. I used to buy the Vegas calendar from him every year until he stopped selling them.

Jana, I remember Bear & Angel, too. And Mary Lou is still living in Chicago. She plays live poker, mostly.
I met David one time when he stopped by the Orleans and I purchased a couple of his pins he was making/selling for his charity. He got us hooked on GVR-had never been or stayed there before-this about 10 years ago. Yes he had retired in LV. Sorry to hear of his death.
Also miss Jerry Reller-smart player/poster.
I miss:

I also am one who subscribes mainly to lurk on the boards but so many of the interesting posters have left in the past couple of years that I think I will pass when it's time to renew.
Also miss Mindbender (Einstein avatar), use to have a great wit and outlook on life. Our wives passed away about the same time and we build a good PM fellowship.

Sue use to keep in touch with him too.
