Just a few last words...............
Sinbad is a really really funny guy. This was the one show we saw while there. He had the whole place rolling in the aisles and was hard to breathe after a while. The Showroom at the Orleans is a nice venue....not too small nor too large. Orleans also had a tremendous group playing in their lounge. Don't remember their name, but could play many genres of music very well. Lots of dancing.
Thought we would go see a few places we had never been to. Went to Silverton to use 2 for 1 lunch buffet coupon........it's Monday! Senior lunch is $5.00 for card members. What a deal! Then after so many points, get more coupons for free buffets. Used those on the way out of town. Nice casino and fun to go see aquariums! Hope we get on their radar! Drove out to Red Rock one evening for dinner. MRB coupon.....very nice buffet. Enjoyed it very much. That is a great place to spend some time. So many great places to eat and drink! They also had an outstanding band in their lounge. Ellis Island figured in too.......had one more coupon for restaurant and a few for the 4 free drinks at the bar. Great beer, and snuck a few Jamesons on ice in there. (Oh yeah, that was the day I regretted eating and drinking too much. Happens at least once on a trip. Forget my delicate digestive system and just go for it. Ooooooo, I can't believe I ate the whole thing.)
Went to MGM to play my favorite Sigma Derby. Go you little plastic horses! I love that game. And this time the table had some really fun people playing. There was a fellow there with his wife who was acting as Racing MC. I tell you, he should have had his own talk show. He kept the whole bunch of us cheering and laughing.....had nicknames for all of us. "Hey Corona (me).......did ya win?" Come one Plaid, (Hubby) play another race!!!! "Blue Shirt, you're not leaving yet?" Etc, you get the idea. Hubby had a plaid shirt and I was quaffing Coronas. I asked him what HIS name was, and he said Brian, and his wife said "Big Mouth". I called him Vodka, as he had a pretty big flask of it in his pocket to supplement his drinks. Hubby does not usually play this game, but joined in this time. I actually left with some quarters left. I save quarters in a change purse all year between trips just to play this game. Hubby won more races than lost and left happy.
Still have the Whammie game in front of Planet Hollywood. I got $10.00 free play and Hubby got $20.00 food/beverage credit at a Harrah's property....BUT not there. Only good for buffet or Starbucks ther at PH. So walked down to Paris and had some calamari and beers at one of the cafes. Nice score, I thought. Decided to spend one afternoon at "Qua" one day. Wanted a little quiet time to myself and also needed to detox in the steam room. Daily use for the spa went up to $45.00 a day. The number of spa attendants went down, I think. I had to hunt around for quite a while for some help a few times. Amenities at the mirrors were at a minimum. But still in all, a wonderful experience and one of my favorite spas and places to spend time in Vegas.
We avoided the Strip north of Bill's. At least walking it. Has anyone noticed that from Bally's down to PH and further even, the sidewalk has gotten to be a real circus? And not a great one, either. These folks in their costumes, panhandlers, and the homeless panhandlers on the cross-over bridges seem to be in dire straits and in dire need of many baths. It's not that I do not have empathy or sympathy for the city's poor and homeless, but there seem to be many more of them. And of course they are right in your path and some are yelling at you for money. One fellow was yelling "QUARTERS QUARTERS" Kind of scary. Bill's Gamblin Hall needs a good cleaning. It's looking kind of ratty....that or my Zoloft has really worn off.
OK what is with the wearing of slippers....house shoes......in the casinos and on the streets? I can't believe how many folks (younger ones) are doing this. How filthy...expecially in the casino bathrooms. Don't get it. I did see one time 2 young women wearing slippers and fleece pajamas in the airport with their suitcases. And all the kids, kids, kids. No place for them, honestly. Too many darn strollers. Why do you need to be at the Mirage buffet with your 1 week old baby at 9 PM? Practically a newborn. And kids being led through the casino with crowds of smoking, drinking fun-loving adults who don't want to see kids for a while. (I am not anti-children....just not in that environment) Leave them home with Grandma, please!!
OK I have rattled on quite long enough. Thanks for reading. First trip report under my belt. Came home tired, and happy, and can't wait to go again! (isn't it funny? You wring everything you can out of your trip...if you are anything like me......you just wear yourself out, tell yourself you're good for a while now....don't need to go back soon, you're TIRED. Then you get home, and the next day you're ready to go again for more adventures!!!!!!) Gotta love it.
