Hinckley Grand Casino- Hinckley, Minnesota

Pics to follow.

We (Showtime Sports) had some boxing at the Hinckley Grand Casino last Friday night, September 9th.

Comments:

- Big casino with plenty of good action.

- Decent rooms, but only decent.

- Lots of video poker with pay tables all over the place. Plenty of 9/5 DDB, some 9/6 JoB. However, they also had some "One Eyed Jacks" with dreadful table (I think) I was playing .25, 15 coins and hit 5 OAK (of a kind) and I think it paid me 750.

- Wind Steak House is very good with nice prices.

- The entire staff was incredibly nice.

- Pretty good fight crowd.

- Pretty good fight. Excellent Main Event.

Pictures:

My friend for the last 29 years, who came to the fights.

The ring the night before the fights.

The Grand Casino version of DDB nickels x3. I think it was OK.

The Grand Casino.

Thanks for that report (as well as for the nice photos), TWB! And wow, 15 coins per hand, that's not something that I've heard of. Was the 9/6 Jacks that way as well?

I believe many of their machines were 5, 10 or 15 coins @ max.

Didn't spend too much time in the casino, so my numbers may be suspect.
OMG..Human Nature is touring the Mid-West!
Who'd they piss off?!?

Hey TWB,

I also wonder if Minnesota has a maximum allowable return for machines (because I seem to remember reading something very recently saying something to that effect -- I think that it was another posting by an LVAer) and so I wonder if the 9/6 Jacks Or Better may not have had the 4,000 coin RF jackpot but actually had something lower. I say this because even in LV I have seen some 9/6 Jacks machines with a full coin-in Royal paying 2,500 coins (which is very sneaky and which lowers the return by about .75% -- which would bring the return down to about 98.77%).

Edited To Add: I found a posting by Minnesota3 in the "Hard Rock Downgrades" thread on one of the other messages boards here which says that the Indians negotiated a 98% return max and so maybe what you saw was 9-6-5 Double Bonus but not actually 9/6 Jacks Or Better (unless maybe the Royal Flush jackpot was something like 1,500 coins -- which would then put the game's return at about 98%).
It is certainly possible that my numbers are incorrect. I was looking at pay tables as I was walking and talking. I played for a total of 20 - 25 minutes. My friend wanted to try the One Eyed Jacks game and I got Lu my but not too lucky very fast.
Your friend for 29 years? Have you known each other since you were born? Great trip report!

My reaction was similar. I was kind of stunned when I saw it. The only thing I can think of is that if they wanted to make some changes to the show, a good way to "test" those changes would be to do it in smaller markets. I thought the AC show was great but I'm pretty sure some parts were a little different than the Vegas show but I could be wrong. If they want to do more tinkering, it makes sense that they wouldn't want to do that in Vegas. Just a thought.

Edited to take out what I said about CET as I thought CET might want this to reward local players as I thought this was CET casino but looks like it isn't!

This is amazing!...9/6 JoB?? VP pay schedules at indian casinos are usually pathetic. What denomination are these machines?

BTW, I have not been to Grand Casino in ages.

HN might have a touring group. Ledgends has for many years.

Good Luck!
