Hit 'em All Nevada - Day 17

Hit ‘em All Nevada – Day 17

Today started out after a good night’s sleep and a relaxed morning. One of the things I like about staying at the Holiday Inn Express is the breakfast in the morning. The food is prepared right there, and it’s to just relax, read the paper, and get ready for the day.

Today I’m going to Jackpot, NV. It’s here that I made another tactical error in my planning. As it turns out, I should have simply stopped at Jackpot on my way to tomorrow destination, Wendover, considering I’m going in the same direction. Jackpot is located right up to the border of Idaho. There are four casinos. So with my playing at AVI in Laughlin put me at the southernmost tip of Nevada, and now I am the northernmost tip of the state. However, on the way to Jackpot, there’s a small town called Wells, NV and there’s a little casino/café/gas station called the Four Way. It’s a small place with about 75 machines. They got a few bucks out of me.

The 780 residents of Wells, NV have this view from their front yard

Jackpot is 65 miles north up State 93. The road is only a two lane, so getting behind big rigs was always hassle. One thing interesting was that there were many signs posted of Deer Migration warnings. And what they did was put up 6ft wire fences on both sides of the roadway in order to guide the deer to a bridge that was constructed just for the deer to cross safely over the roadway. The first casino is called the Four Jacks. This is really a small motel with a casino of only about 25 machines. There was nothing to play here.

Across the streets is the nicest of the casinos and is Cactus Pete’s. This place is full blown resort casino. The hotel is large and the casino floor is expansive with all the latest machines. You’d wonder how this place can make enough money and have enough guests to support itself, but once I was inside walking around, there were a lot customers playing. Even the poker room had three full tables. I found a Towers version of the Lord of the Rings machines, which I don’t like as much. I think this version gives fewer bonuses and power spins. Today was no different, as I lost a little on them again. This is the first place with a blackjack table, and I lost my ten bucks.

Across the street is the Horseshoe Club. This was a nice little casino attached to a Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, there were not more than seven or eight customers in the entire place. There were two table games, but they weren’t open—surprise.

The final casino in Jackpot is called Barton’s Club 93. This casino is a bit on the older side, but there are quite a few customers here. The machines are all on the older side. The blackjack tables were busy and I was able to get my ten dollar bet just in time to lose it by busting out.

I knew when I was planning this trip that there would be times I’d be doing a lot of driving for a fast turnaround. Jackpot is a 128 miles from Elko, and driving back was a total of 256 miles to walk into five casinos and lose both my ten dollar bets. I did go into Idaho, made a U turn and drove back to Elko. I spent a couple of hours playing in the Red Lion and finally was back to room for a few episodes of “The Storage Wars.”

Trip totals: Casinos visited: 151; Bets Balance: +$133.

Hi Jon, Boy have I missed a lot by not being on the LVA for a while! Oh well I will chatch up .
Good Luck Always,
Dick From Milwaukee
I'm guesssing the Four Jacks Casino was not quite as nice as the Four Queens?

Keep up the good work.
Yes, JMan, it definitely sounds to me as if the Four Jacks is literally a rank below the Four Queens!

And as I am thinking about it right now, maybe I should have encouraged you more (since this was a trip specifically for playing a hand of Blackjack at each casino that had it), that you should have gotten your hands on Stanford Wong's newsletter "Current Blackjack News" which is for casinos across the United States and Canada!
