Hit ‘em Nevada – Day 21
I got up pretty late today and knowing that Las Vegas was only an hour and a half away, I was in no hurry to get going. I packed things up and checked out of the Eureka. However, before taking off for Vegas, I thought I’d stop over at the casino and give a shot at those full pay 100-plays again. Playing Bonus Poker you really need to be dealt a fair share of two pairs to stay afloat and today, they just didn’t come around and after about a half hour or so finally lost and headed out. I was quite happy with my stay here. Not only was the excellent, the casino gives a lot of promotions and with full pay video poker everywhere, it’s a nice place to play. If they send me offers in the future, I believe it would be worth the hour and a half drive from Vegas to come back.
I left Mesquite at 12:20 and pulled into the Aliante Station at 1:30. You might remember that the last time I was here a couple of weeks ago to make my bet; I won and then got distracted on a machine and forgot to turn the chips in, so I wanted to do that and see if (LVA member and now an Aliante slot club host) Sue Casey was working today. She was and we had a nice visit.

Sue Casey and I
I went to check out the machines and played a few and then sat down at a Lord of the Rings machine (no doubt you can tell this is a favorite). My little “system” of playing these is to put in $40 and play eighty cent rounds. I’ll play that until it’s exhausted and then play whatever power spins I had built up and that will be what I cash out (I never play the power spins until I’m out of cash). I’ve found that with a reasonable amount of power spins, that I tend to get back my money and hopefully some profit as well. On this particular session, one of the power spins is a “wild tree” where you usually get one or two of them. Well, today I hit four of them, which is extremely rare and it turned into a sweet profit.

Those of you familiar with Lord of the Rings will know how rare this is
I next drove out to the Santa Fe Station. I haven’t been here for a while, and it’s changed so much since it had originally opened. The remodel made this place into an excellent multi-use casino with a Kid’s Quest, a bowling alley, theaters, food court, and oh yea, a casino. I played my ten dollar blackjack bet, and I was once again, dealt a blackjack (I’ve certainly had my fair share of dealt blackjacks this trip).

Santa Fe Station
I finally made it over to the Suncoast, my home for the next two days. I got an offer from them for a free night and a second night for $29 (which I’ll use my slot points to cover). This place used to be a regular stop for me as it was one of the few places that would give me free nights. The rooms here are very nice with full length floor-to-ceiling windows. They’ve recently installed wall-mounted flat screen TVs and have also added small refrigerators. The bathrooms are also large. It’s a great place to stay—it’s just unfortunate it’s so far off the beaten path for many.

The Suncoast is also a video poker player’s dream. It has plenty of full pay schedules. My favorite game to play here are the 9/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe. I sat up at the bar and began playing. It was a frustrating session. There was a lady next to me that was only playing two coins at a time, and she hit three quads in about five minutes. I, on the other hand, went through a terrible quad drought. I finally gave up and went to the movies. The theaters here in the Suncoast are really nice and the only movie I hadn’t seen on the marquee at this time was the GREEN HORNET. I’m not a comic book reader, but this movie, though okay, was simply over the top.
I went over to the deli and picked up a sandwich to take back to my room and watch SYTYCD. Tomorrow, I’m going to begin getting to all the casinos I’ve not hit yet.
