Hit ‘em All Nevada – Day 31
This morning after finishing up the trip report, I headed for downtown where I was going to meet up with LVA member and friends Terry and Louise (dorianmac). After parking in the Fremont valet, I walked over to the 4 Queens where we would have breakfast in Magnolias.
So, you might remember earlier these journals I had mentioned that I used my reward points to spend $750 for three tickets to see Celine Dion. Well, on the way downtown I wanted to give Terry their two tickets so we could simply meet at Caesars tomorrow night for the show. Well, somehow, somewhere, I lost one of the tickets. I have no clue how or when that happened but no doubt somewhere on the ground between the Fremont hotel and the 4 Queen is a $250 ticket to see Celine. I was just sick about it and told them they would see the show and I’d forego it—after all; I’m the dip who lost the ticket. I will be meeting my sister later who is staying at Caesars to see if there’s anything I can do.
Terry and Louise had just come back from a two week vacation in Louisa’s home town in Newfoundland, Canada. From the low 40s of Northern Canada to the low 100s in Las Vegas, it had to be quite a change. We enjoyed breakfast and caught up on things. They were waiting for their room at the 4 Queens to be cleaned, so Terry and I sat down at the 10/7 Bonus Poker Progressives, which were nearing the $1200 range for the royal. Though we both did catch the occasional quad, we never hit anything big and lost. I played some LOTR a little bit and then we sat down at the full pay video poker machines by their sports book.
Rob, a member of the East Coast Las Vegas Advisor (ECLVA) contingent happened by and let us know there would be a mini-meet at Chicago Brewery (located in the 4 Queens) and 1 PM. I soon caught four Aces (finally!) and had the good sense to cash out. Terry and Louise finally got their room keys and went up to unpack and I went over to the brewery. I was soon met with Catherine (bigfus) and her friend Jackie as well as Paul (bum) and Cathy and Rob. Terry and Louise came back down and were frustrated that when they got to their room, it still hadn’t been cleaned. We ordered one other their thin-crust pizzas (the best!). Dave and Julie (timberwolf) soon arrived and we all a wonderful time chatting up things.

East Coast members were still arriving later today and tomorrow for the annual Mattress Poker Tournament (MPT) which will take place at the Palazzo on Monday. My sister and her family were also in town and staying at Caesars, so I excused myself and headed over there.

Rob, Jackie, Cathy, and Catherine
My sister, Donna and her husband, Jose were booked into a never nice suite in the Forum Towers set up by their son, Rocky.

I went first to the Box Office, preparing for the worst. However, the ticket agent looked up my account on the computer, nullified the old tickets and printed me out three new ones—sweet! Donna had never been to a diamond lounge, so we went to the one in Caesars and had a couple of strong Pina Colatas. The snack area once again had the usual chips, bread sticks, and wings assortments. My sister and I had a nice talk and then as we walked back to the suite, I thought I’d show her how the Lord of the Rings game worked. Though I picked up a few power spins, I couldn’t catch a bonus. Finally I let her take over, and she didn’t much better; however, I let her do the power spins, and she picked like everything write, winning +$50 on multiplier, and then a gold ring bonus playing Prancing Ponies, she picked all the right doors for another +$50. So, from losing $40 to winning over $80 from the power spins, it turned out being a lot of fun (it’s always fun when you win, right?).
We said our goodbyes. I had just a little time left, so I headed over to the Forum Shop entrance to run a hundred through their quarter bonus poker. With only one quad and not enough of anything else, I was down to $20 and cashed out. On a whim, I put the twenty in some machine called Martians Land Map. It’s an old slot game with a bonus function. Well, I hit the bonus three times, and turned my $20 into $150, so that turned things around.
