Hit ‘em All Nevada – Day 35 (Final)
Having had such a good day yesterday, sleep wasn’t all that easy. However, I did get up early enough to get the report finished and logged in at the Starbucks on Las Vegas Blvd. and Blue Diamond. This morning I was to meet Terry (dorianmac) and Louise once again at the M. I arrived a little before 10 AM and texted to him I was there and he would know where to find me.
After about 15 minutes, he came over to the Quick Quad machine that I had such a good run on. As any VP player will tell you, one day you can do no wrong and the very next day, nothing works. This was the situation today. On the same machine I hit so many quads on yesterday, today it was completely stingy and within a half hour I was down $200. So, we met Louise and decided to have breakfast over at the South Point hotel. They were leaving today, so they packed their bags on and checked out. I drove over there to meet them in front of the buffet line. Today, the line went on forever so we decided instead to go the café. We all had the breakfast burrito and all agreed they were terrific.
They needed to drop off their rental car by 6 PM, so we decided to just stay and play at the South Point for the rest of the afternoon. As I mentioned in an earlier report when I was staying here, they have a lot of full pay schedules at the quarter level. We all sat at a bank of slant tops. Louise and Terry played deuces and I played bonus deluxe. I wasn’t getting anywhere so I also switched over to deuces and within about ten minutes caught the four 2s ($250), which made up for the losses earlier today.
We then played different machines throughout the place and sat at the bar for a good while playing bonus poker deluxe where both of them earned a small profit, and I was once again down. We wanted to enjoy a bowl of chowder at the oyster bar, but it was just a little doo early. I told Terry we should see if South Point had any of those Bonus Wheel Deluxe machines that JM (noahcat) had hit her royal on yesterday. We shortly did and gave them a try. On Terry’s first bonus, which was a triple play with three-to-a-royal, he pulled the other two cards for his first royal of the trip. But he wasn’t done because just three hands later, he was dealt four deuces playing deuces wild. So, within about five minutes, Terry’s trip outcome completely flip-flopped.
We enjoyed a bowl of chowder and walking out of the oyster bar, we ran into LVA member Judy and chatted for a little bit. Soon, we all said our goodbyes as they headed for the airport and I headed back to the Silverton. I haven’t given the hotel much business during this stay because I’ve been running around so much, and I need to play enough to keep getting those free offers. I played some spin poker and lost, some penny machines and lost, and a little of this and a little of that—and lost that as well. However, not really much of dent into yesterday’s profits so it’s all good.
It’s Wednesday, so I headed back to my room in time for SYTYCD as my trip has officially come to a close. Tomorrow I pack up and head back to Pine Valley (40 miles east of San Diego) and begin this new life of semi-retirement.
When I first began thinking about what I was going to do this summer, I truly was at a loss. I knew I didn’t want to leave the country and I knew that I couldn’t out do last year’s National Casino Tour, but why should I even try? So, I put it to you LVA readers, and you came up with a lot of ideas. The one idea suggested that intrigued me was the idea to attempt to visit every casino in the state of Nevada. However, I thought it needed just a little something added, and after reading BLACKJACK AUTUMN where the author did something like this in 1998 but playing blackjack across the state, I thought I’d borrow from that and place a $10 bet on any table game that was available. Once I had made the decision to do this, the difficult part was trying to find all the casinos.
Again, LVA members made some suggestions and I eventually was able to locate as many of the casinos in the state that I could possibly find. I then needed to work out the driving route and schedules in order to make the needed hotel reservations along that way. And finally LVA member gwaupo came up with the name Hit ‘em All Nevada and I was ready to go.
I want to thank all of you who have been following all of these trip reports and have replied with ideas, questions, and kind words. I’ve read every one have appreciated your suggestions and hopefully answered all your questions. I realize I may very well have missed a casino here or there, but if I did, it wasn’t for lack of effort or research. Again, the spirit of the quest was accomplished. I visited a total of 182 casinos and drove to every border state surrounding Nevada in that quest. I made the $10 bet playing either craps, roulette, or (and mostly) blackjack. I knew when I had undertaken, and told my friends, that I would most likely end up plus or minus a hundred dollars. That turned out to be right as my final tally was +$98. I traveled a total of 2800 miles. My Saturn Vue again got me there and back again without a problem.
Thanks for all the kind words and now it’s time to start planning next year.
