It never happens to me-High Card Flush

Not a life-changer, but a trip saver nonetheless.

Caesars Atlantic City.  Crappy "Free" charter trip flight, Sun Country, double stop, everything delayed including waiting an hour for bags to drop at ACY.  Arrived at hotel after 11 pm.  Originally to be some 5:30 pm.  Yuk.

First and short night not going well, then a good run on a 3-Card Poker table. Up by $800+.

Next day awful, until the evening...on High Card Flush dealt a Six Card Heart Flush with a 5 Card Straight Flush.  $1500.   Those are kinda rare.   No tax...table play.

Last day awful until the afternoon, hit a Dragon Link machine for $1250.00+.  Taxed NJ and Fed.

Then, last gasp, High Card Flush table, dealt a Seven Card Heart Flush with a 3 Card Straight flush $3000,00.  No tax, table play. Those are really rare.

I'm a 'minimum' bettor, so both HCF wins could have been more, but what-er ya gonna do?

Thanks for reading.

And, hey, my traveling friend hit a Dragon Link for $14,000.00 plus...filled in all the 'balls'!

Thanks for reading.

Candy

Now, that was a good trip, Candy.  Thanks for sharing.

And your friend hit the Grand on DL, also?  Outstanding!

Nice trip Candy,  Hopefully rhe table limits are coming down in Las Vegas so we can afford to play more tables.  What were the limits in AC.

They are $10 all over, every game, all hours, as far as I could see.   At Caesars, Harrah's, and Tropicana.  The games were well attended all the time.

Of course those bonus spots that you can't resist betting makes it way more.  On HCF, minimum $10 ante, $5 Flush spot (I'd bet $10), and $5 on the Straight Flush spot.  Dealer qualifies with Nine high three card.  If you have anything (Queen high three card by the book) you raise by equaling the ante bet.  Should you get a five card flush you double the ante, and for a six or seven you triple your ante (which in worse case you keep if the dealer doesn't qualify.

On Three Card Poker $10 for ante, $10 for Pair Plus spot, and $5 for the 6 Card Bonus spot, plus $5 for the progressive bonus.  Dealer qualifies with Queen high.  Queen/8 by the book.

Those games will slaughter you in the long run--inherent house advantage of 3% or worse and the side bets 8% or more. So I hope you get comped out the wazoo when you play them. Ditto slots. I just can't stomach those negative percentages, myself. Glad you won this time, though.

Wow, Super Thanks for TR, goingto Laughlin charter June 18 with Martie, will do TR again WOW

Good luck, Bobby.  Laughlin was where I first played HCF and got some very good hands.  After that, not so much.  As Kevin and others say, those carney games will hook you.  And no, you don't get comped any more than playing Blackjack, which isn't much.

Years and years ago VP earned great comps, until they figured it out and slammed that door.  Got to play slots for comps, unless you play BIG at the tables.

The guy sitting next to me, I had asked him where he'd like me to sit down.  He said he didn't care, sit anywhere.  My 7 Card would have been his.  He was betting $1200 on his ante, maybe $200 each on the Flush and SF spots.  I can't even count how much that would have won him.  I don't know how he could bet that much as the sign said "Max bet $500."  I guess I don't know how they figure things.

He didn't act upset, everyone was cheering, I was in shock.  I'd been excited to see the first four Hearts, the the fifth, then the sixth.  Couldn't tell the last card...surely not, with my luck, tho I'd have been thrilled with a 6 Card flush.  When the 7th Heart turned, Yikes!

A 7 Card Straight Flush pays $8000 to one, plus the bonus spots.  Double yikes!

fhanks  Candy, I have played both of those gsmes in the past  and are good on the base game as do most.  Do you feel any sweat by not playing the side bets.  I f I don't play the crack bets, I always offer it to my neifgbors

That's a good idea, Brent, letting other players play on your bonus spots.  I'll bet that when/if they hit on one they'll share the wealth with you.  They should, anyway.

I would avoid the game if I couldn't play the side bets, as in not enough bankroll.  And, yes, I'd sweat!

But, I don't play for long.  In my experience, somebody has the hot seat, a few are doing OK, and at least one, sometimes me, is getting bupkiss.  If I'm that one, five or six hands...I'm outta there.  Sure, eventually it may come around to me, but it costs too much to wait for it.

Your friend would have gotten a horrible surprise if he had gotten the straight flush. It ostensibly pays 8,000/1, but not on a $200 bet! That payout would be $1.6 million...EXCEPT...there's a maximum payout limit per hand dealt--they call it "aggregate" payout limit. That number is usually in the neighborhood of $250,000 (any progressives notwithstanding). So he would have gotten screwed out of the majority of his payout. I'm sure he didn't know this, or his side bets wouldn't have been so large.
