Just returned last night from my annual MM trek to Vegas. Stayed at 2 hotels for the very first time and both left a favorable impression on me.
The rampart (J W Marriott) sent me a March madness offer that included 2 free nights and 2 wristbands to 2 days of their MM party with food and beverages included. We checked in Saturday (while still having a room at Ballys) and my girl immediately decided that the J W was the place for her. The room and hotel reminded us a lot of Green valley. The grounds were massive and beautiful as was the room. The bathroom was huge. 2 sinks, a separate Jacuzzi and shower with the waterfalls shower head and a standard shower head 2. The toilet was separate from the entire area with its own door. And his and her sinks!!!!
I have played at the Rampart a couple of times before but never stayed in the hotel. The gaming was decent with $5.00 paigow and craps (all day Sunday). The food choices are limited with nothing visible from the casino floor other than Addisons. The live music band Saturday night was right up my alley with a bunch of old skool tunes. The crowd was older than most but at 56 I felt pretty good about who I was around. On Sunday night, I joined a 3 drunk (young and old) guys at the craps table.1 of them won me a fire bet ($3.00 paid $75.00). If you don't know what a fire bet is then disregard. If you do then you realize that that shooter had a "decent" roll by any craps standard (hit 4 points). My play the first night, Saturday, earned my girl a manicure because I earned at least 1,000 points.I earned over 2 k in points on Sunday but we didn't check out the other promos for points !
The fitness center was very nice and every cardio machine had its own t.v. The sauna (wet and dry) and steam room were also solid. Something tells me I'll be back there again (especially if they offer me another comp, which I am sure they will)!!!
South point earns an "ooowwwee" from me. Played there last year a couple of times but a certain pit boss (female blond hair) Sh--ty attitude just ruined my experience. I had discovered quick quads VP there and some other goodies and undoubtly the play on those made South point offer me a very nice package. So I took them up on it and checked in to there Monday to Weds (yesterday).
We checked in to a "city view" room. I must admit that after I checked in and saw the view, I never looked out the window again. But it was nice of them, nonetheless, to give me city view. The room was above average and the bath room was a separate sink and shower/toilet area.
The gaming was fantastic. Full pay VP across the room. $3.00 craps 24/7 as well as $5.00 Paigow. Food choices were equally as tremendous.Kim and I had dinner at Don Vitos' (compliments of the South point) and it was superb. Also got quick bites/eats at the Del mar (cheesecake twice the size of any other place), Seattles best Coffee, Steak and Shake and even the a 75 cents all beef hot dog cart (next to the sports book). Warning the line can be very long at this 1!!!
I had my best luck there too. Hit a couple of nickle royals on Super times pay, flopped quad 9's on a quarter 5- handed Quick Quads machine and on my last night (Tuesday) drew 2 to a Club Royal on a 50 cents Bonus Deluxe game (a cool 2k). Played poker for a couple of hours and the poker room has as many t.v.'s as any poker room that I have ever been in. A plus for the avid sports enthusiast like me. The room is a must for me next march madness time!!
I put at least 10,00 points on my card Monday and Tuesday and 7,000 Sunday night. Not sure what that equals play wise but something tells me that I'll be back at South point real soon (Probably August). I really enjoyed my stay there. The best of the trip (which also included 1 night at Orleans and 4 at Ballys, with 2 overlapping the J W Mariott).
In the words of Arnold...Southpoint..."Ill be back"!!!
