Left Detroit for my annual trip for the World of Concrete trade show on Delta and everything was on time.My mom and aunt decided to tag along this time which was great since that meant we would see shows and eat a few good meals.We go every November with just the guys which is pure gambling and Bi-yearly with wives however they hate to make reservations for shows/dinners in case they are having too much fun to want to stop.Presidential Limo met us in baggage on time as usual and we were off.................HOTEL- My mom will only stay at Paris but without my dad on trip could only get a room at Ballys so I gave them my red room and stayed in Ballys north tower.I have not stayed or played at Ballys in 15 yrs and both the casino and rooms are big and functional.I also had a room for 2 nights at TI with 200.00 free play and 75.00 in food so kept Ballys room but stayed at TI for 2 nights.Great beds and I really like the coffee shop for breakfast.
GAMBLING-I mostly play VP and did DIAD at Ballys playing 5.00 JOB for 2000 pts and 10 play DDB quick quads and ultimate X for the remainder.Hit AAAA2 X 3 for 1500.00 which allowed me to finish DIAD up 400.00.Dealt 4444X on quick quads and caught kicker on 4 of 10 hands for 1600.00.I play mostly red chips on tables and got beat playing crazy 4,pai gow,craps and and BJ.Penny slots really killed me especially Wizard of Oz,I Love Lucy and Dean Martin Wild Party.At the end my original bankroll was cut about in half which is fine considering how much play I got in.
SHOWS-Went to see Terry Fator for the first time and really enjoyed it.We were in row 5 and it is remarkable what he can do with his voice.The show was very funny and flew by.We also caught the new Sinatra show at Encore,Dance with Me.We all LOVED it! It is a very grown up show using Franks voice,live orchestra and dancers.No one speaks however the story is told thru the dancing.We were in row 4 and seeing the expressions on the dancers faces made it even better.This is not a Cirque type show but more of a Broadway production.Finally I had an offer for 2 tix so saw George Wallace and was very entertained.At first I thought "is this the whole act?" but after a while I really enjoyed the free flow of the show.I got a couple Diamond tix for Mom and aunt for Mac King and they thought it was very good also.
FOOD-Ate at STACK at the Mirage.Had the Brooklyn steak which is a bone-in fillet and is the best steak I ever had.The sides are big enough to split so had whipped potatoes and asparagus.The place plays music and can get loud so be warned but we went at 5.00 so not too bad.Also ate at steak house in Paris which was good and lunch of steak sandwich at Mon Ami Gabbi? which is always great.
Overall a great trip mixing business and the pleasure of spending time with my mom and aunt.Thank you for reading,Manny
