Jan 19-Feb5 Part 4

We checked out of IP and headed toward airport. Now this is a feat since we had an Impala and 5 peoples luggage. Once it was packed and we were all tucked away in the car off we went to take my sister to the airport. If you had read any of my early postings there was alot of concern about her coming along. I am happy to report that things went well and there were no major problems. Of course, I was sure to give lots of space and try to be flexible with plans.

After dropping her off we went to Silverton. Rick and I grabbed a bite to eat at some fast food place. My parents took my sister to breakfast at HH before they checked out. We gambled a bit with no major wins but we had time to kill before we could check in at GVR.

Boy we felt like Jed Clampett going to Beverly Hills at GVR. It took us a trip around the block to find the hotel check in/valet. We pulled up with the Audi's, Escalades, and Mercedes in our 2010 Impala we felt so out of place. I saw the gardener smile when we went to get out of the car. Check in was fine and of course the rooms weren't ready. We left our bags with bell desk and I called Carol our host. She was having lunch with some other clients but had time to stop down before their meet. Carol has turned out to be more of a friend than host. We have known her for a few years and really like her. She comped us 2 adjoining rooms for the weekend. (Rick and I had offer for $29 weekend nights) I always like to take her something and she likes truffles and chocolates. I bought some from the chocolate shop at Bellagio along with biscotti.

After our meeting we went gambling for an hour or so. I hit on a butterfly machine for $100 and then it was time to check in. Since we had adjoining rooms only one was ready so we had the bags brought up. The rooms when the other one was ready were very nice. I loved the robe, free internet and newspaper. My mom and dad were impressed with their room as well. My dad was eyeing the mini bar and when we told him the prices he would come to our room and ask for a beer or candy. He didn't get any. Dinner was comp coupons from offers we had gotten. This made the buffet taste even better.

We gambled after dinner, I went back to the same butterfly machine and hit for another $150. I was the only one hitting at GVR. Everyone else was putting money into the black abyss. I moved around playing different machines and only hit for small amounts. We found the Rockin Olives machine and had a good time playing. We had much better luck on the one at Boulder Station.

Saturday, we were still full from dinner the night before so we gambled for a bit and then Rick took a nap. My parents and I walked thru the district and over to the Wholefoods store. We bought a couple pastries and sat outside at a table eating and talking. It has been so nice to walk around and not fight the cold and snow. My parents walk alot and this lets me get out and have someone to walk with. We checked out the hotel grounds and pool. GVR is really a very lovely upscale place. Dinner for Saturday night was free buffet coupons again. Tonight we went down earlier since we stood in line for an hour and a half last night. Tonight was just fourty five minutes.

After dinner we played the machines again. I moved over to the Diamond Run and hit very well. I ended up cashing out with some good cash. I don't know if we played enough for Carol or not but we dropped some coin. Rick hit a little more but not a big win.

Sunday, we got around and decided to check out early. We decided to check out some other things and try to get back into IP early.

more later..
Sorry that I had problems posting this (see below for the updated post). This site has been moving slowly today!

Thanks for posting Part 4 of your interesting family report!

That's great that you're still getting some nice hits from the machines and having a nice time with your folks!

I now look forward to reading Part 5 of your report, so please keep them coming! You're doing an excellent job!

Thanks for the TR. I have been reading many good reviews on Cosmo so will keep that in mind. Interesting not many people seem to get out to GVR much not sure why .

When you stay at GVR or Red Rock (maybe others, but I know for certain these two properties), hotel guests can use the invited guest line at the buffet for immediate access. No waiting in line!

FFlowers tipped me off to this when we stayed at RR this past summer, I did the same when I stayed at GVR over Christmas. GVR even had a little sign (very little) beside the cashier at the "high roller" line saying hotel guests were welcome to use that line as well.

I just told them I was a hotel guest, and even tho I had my key at hand, I was never asked for it!
