July birthday trip...part 2

Sunday morning we woke up around 8:30, I must say I enjoy having the little coffee pot in the room. Random observation, we've been staying at Paris for years and every room, standard and red, have had coffee pots. My sister has never had one unless she was sharing a room with me. She was even on the same floor as we were once and we had a pot and she didn't. Odd.

A trip to Vegas isn't complete for me without pancakes with berries from Cafe Bellagio. We came through the conservatory to find a pretty good sized line so we got in the gold card line. It seems like the same hostess is at the front every time we go. We talked to her awhile as we waited to be taken to our table. I ordered the pancakes with berries and a side of bacon, hubby had the 3 egg breakfast. I like how they leave the pot of coffee on the table so you can refill as you want. 3 pancakes are really too much for me but hubby took one, and some of the bacon, off my hands. A couple sat down at the table next to us with the cutest little girl, she was so well behaved. I still don't get bringing kids to Vegas but that may just be because I don't have kids.

After breakfast we went to find our favorite bank of $1 top dollars. They are over close to where the Cirque show is....well, the were, for YEARS. There used to be 2 top dollars on one side and a top dollar and triple stars on the end . Hubby always played the top dollar, me the triple stars. Oh no, they changed our mojo by moving things around. We found some other dollar machine close to the $5 top dollars progressive machines and played there awhile. We watched a man go from $5 machine to $5 machine, I think he played all 8 machines in the bank of them. He'd hit a bonus or twe, then change machines. Hubby played one of them and never got a bonus. We found a $10 machine and each put in $100, no luck. We did see a lady get the bonus on one of this multi line $10 top dollar, she turned down a bonus that was $550, I was shocked, but her last change bonus ended up being $550. We decided we'd had enough of Bellagio.

My sister and a friend of hers would be in Vegas beginning the 17th of July and they wanted to go on the high roller. She's not diamond so I told her I'd get her our free tix and drop them in the mail, surely they would get to Texas by Thursday since they were leaving at the crack of dawn Friday. Hubby and I head over to the Linq to wander and pick up her tickets. We stopped in flamingo to mail them, the box said mail pickup was 1:00 on Monday. We stopped at a 3 card table that was empty and the minute we sat down the table filled up. We only bought in for $100 and probably played an hour or so. I was dealt a 3 OAK my last hand so we cashed out after that. I wanted to do to the Cromwell and play the $1 triple double wild cherry machine that had been my friend in March. Hubby boued from top dollar to the 3x 4x 5x pay machine next to me. We probably played for over an hour, I think we both cashed out with our $100 buy in. Next stop, Ballys, we played $1 machines for awhile but I wanted to play roulette. I told him I would just buy in for $100. I bet on 20 but this time in bet 2 chips on 20 then one chip on all the numbers on the field around 20. A also had some other numbers I played, plus $5 in the middle numbers, it was a $5 min table for the first hour I played then it was bumped to $10 but they let me continue at $5, which I've found is odd at Ballys, they usually make you increase your bet. Any time I won more than $25 I'd ask for a green, a black if I won $100. Each time I bet I'd turn to ask hubby what number to he wanted me to put $1 on, I told him if he won any of his numbers I'd give him the green chip. He only hit one. I hit the 20 twice and several of the surrounding numbers. I'm not sure how long I played but I made $300 off my $100 buy in. We made our way back to the room to rest awhile.

We had my birthday dinner reservation at 7:45 at the old homestead so we had to go get our diamond voucher from the TR desk at Caesars. We were getting dressed for dinner and I went to put my shoes on and I seemed to struggle, I didn't really think about it because it wasn't time to go yet. I got my new LV wallet out and loaded my stuff in it and switched purses, I went back to put my shoes on and looked down and my feet were swollen. I put my shoes in in pain and looked at hubby and said this won't be pleasant. I didn't have other shoes to wear with my dress. I had pantyhose on so I just carried my shoes as we walked through the casinos but put them on when we walked outside and left them on at dinner. Not really sure what was up, I'd had a ton of water and only a glass of champagne that day...I ended up dealing with my right foot being swollen for almost a week.

Old Homestead, let's just say I'm really glad we had the $100 voucher because I would have been really unhappy if I'd paid $250 for dinner for the 2 of us. First thing the guy that came to ask us about water had such a heavy accent we didn't understand him and ended up paying $10 a bottle for Fiji, and we had 2 bottles. My wedge salad was drowning in dressing. Our steaks were very good as was the side dish. I did have a glass of wine and an espresso martini but hubby just drank tea. When they asked about dessert I was really full but the waiter brought the menus and asked a few times. We ordered a giant chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. It was good but I was surprised to see it on the bill, especially since they had acknowledged my birthday. As I said in my other report, we had no reservations at Mastro's but our waiter from our previous trip told our waitress it wa ps my bday and they didn't charge us for that dessert. Old Homestead is sort of loud because of its proximity to the casino so I'll just put it on my been there done that list.

We went back to Bellagio after dinner and played $5 slots, now winning much. We went back to Paris so I could ditch the dress and shoes and wash my dirty feet and put on comfy clothes. We go back to Ballys and play $1 slots, then went back to Paris to play the $5 top dollar machine. We hit a bonus but it wasn't much. We wandered around and played some other $1 slots. Then off to bed.

Monday's report.....I'll do on Monday. Please excuse the typos! Thanks to all those that read and commented on my previous report.
Thank you for Part 2 of your report!

As for your sending tickets somewhere, mail these days I'm finding is a lot worse than it used to be -- things are taking quite a bit longer than they used to to go places.

And so since someone was going to be in LV not that long after you, I would have tried finding out where the others were going to be staying and then get it over to there and leave it for them or mail it to their LV hotel for them. Mailing it out of state could easily take a longer amount of time.

Sorry to read about the mostly losing this day.

I'm now eagerly awaiting reading Part 3.

Part 2 was a very good read. Now I'm not sure about trying Old Homestead.

RecVP, I'm happy to say my sister got her tickets on Thursday. I didn't even think to leave them at Paris for her! She suggested the same thing, after I'd already mailed them.
I had read good things about Old Homestead. But last trip when we were cruising the eateries to spend our $100 at, something about that place turned us off. I think we went to Empress Court which was very good, nice and quiet. I think EP is or will be replaced by something else.

Enjoying the reads!
