It was time for our annual summer Vegas trip, finally. This year we decided to try a short stay off the strip. We usually only stay on the strip, we have tried downtown but didn't enjoy it as much so we decided to give M a try.
Flew SW out of Tulsa as usual, normally nonstop but the one stop in Denver was cheaper, We made it on time however our luggage did not, auuggggggg! that's why we always fly nonstop. The nice lady at SW took all the info and told me the luggage was either headed to San Jose or San Antonio, depending on where they screwed up. She promised we would have it delivered with in a day. She was right, woke me up at 2:30 a.m. to tell me it was on the way up, gee thanks, but we did get it.
We normally don't bother to rent a car but since we were staying off the strip decided we would need one. Got the best deal with Dollar, $83 for the week, was suppose to be a compact but they were slammed and they gave us a full size, all they had left. so the Dodge Avenger it was. Nice care, clean and comfy. FYI when you use Dollar or Thrity look for the yellow city special banner on the page when you get your quotes, that's where the specials are.
Headed out to the M, check in was a breeze, very nice room. Very different feel from the strip. We found it very quite and relaxing. Enjoyed the pool and the Buffet. We only stayed 2 nights and that was enough but overall it was very nice.
Now it was time to go to our summer home for the last 10 years, Bellagio. Bellagio never disappoints. We love the place and they always take care of us. They comped us a suite and food and beverage as they have for the last several years and this year we were "welcomed" into the VIP lounge. didn't know they had one and we have stayed there for years. Told to go the "green doors" we did and SWEET! snacks and drinks and private elevator to the top floors. We took advantage of this little perk.
We went and saw Le Reve at Wynn. We had avoided this show because of negative reviews but it was Fantastic. One of the best shows we have seen in years. Very entertaining. Highly recommend.
We also went to Cirque's One at Mandalay Bay. It was very loud, thumpthumpthump, but also very entertaining. I didn't know humans could move like the performers in this show. Another hit!
Gambling was hit and miss. HIt for the better half, she couldn't lose and a miss for me, until the last night when David Copperfield performed magic on his slot and pulled me out of the dumper, thanks David. I can eat this week.
As for food, we are buffet fans, Bellagios is our favorite and still is, fantastic. M was good but over rated. South Point was cheap and surprisingly good, but the casino was smokey. Also ate at Wynn, Very good, included in the Le Reve tickets, so even better.
WE are also fitness freaks and M had a very nice gym and Bellagios is always great.
Ran out to Hoover Dam, again, and still amazing, for a Dam. Also checked out Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch, both very nice resorts, we may try them soon.
that's it, another fun trip, I think I'm headed back in Sept. for a short visit.
thanks
