July visit

We flew out of Seattle Sunday July 7th at 6am, meaning we left the house at 3:45... Had a great flight into town. Arrived at the Flamingo at 8:45am, I usually use the check-in kiosk, but the line was nonexistent, so I approached the counter hoping for a room to be available for early check-in. Not only is a room available, but so is the possible suite upgrade that I accepted when I initially booked through my husbands and my total rewards points. We immediately went up to see the room, it was great, full frontage of Caesars, two huge TVs, double sinks in the bath and wonderful seating area, quickly took a nap, since I already had booked a daybed for the pool.

I arrived at the pool at 10:50ish to claim our stake as my husband slept a bit more. The bed was $100 for the day, plus the requirement to spend another $100 in food/beverage. (This is not hard to do... but keep in mind I spent more renting this bed, then for a days hotel stay in the room.) Spent until 5pm at the pool listening to ever increasingly louder music, food options were actually pretty good, bought my expensive drink cup to use the rest of the week and very much beer.... met the food and beverage minimum.

After a recent trip to Nashville, we were on the hunt for Hattie B’s that had opened in the Cosmo for dinner. It is located on the second level above the Chandelier bar in the food court area. Incredible hot chicken if you haven’t tried it in Vegas or Nashville add it to the list to do! After a few drinks and a beautiful walk down the strip we called it a night.

Monday: Slept in and we had already decided the night before to hit the North Las Vegas outlets during the day. (I have a bit of an addiction to lululemon clothing and they have an outlet.) Most of the time we Uber to the outlets but decided to take it slow on the bus this time, it’s always a good show! Spent a good chunk of change at the outlet and then headed back via the bus to the fashion show mall. As part of our usual Vegas routine we had lunch at El Segundo at the bar, which is guacamole, some tamales and chicken tacos, it is always incredible, bartenders are friendly and pour a refreshing drink! After lunch we hit the sale racks at the Lululemon at the fashion show mall, no real deals to be had there. Back to the room for a nap and then some gambling, even hit the high limit room, lost for the most part... just guarantees the good room rate next time right?!

Tuesday: Another day at the Flamingo pool, reserved the daybed the night before online, arrived at the pool at 9am to stand in line for about an hour to get checked in, this seemed a bit long to me, but as usual good conversation ensued in the line waiting to get it. This is one of the things that my husband and I love most about Vegas, meeting people from all over the US and the world and having great conversation. Enjoyed the pool and the service was incredible for both of our Flamingo pool days, same as the previous pool day the music got to be too much, maybe we are too old?  While at the pool I started looking online to see about reserving a daybed at another Caesars property, just to see what our other options may be, Harrah’s offered a fully shaded daybed for $80 for the day... told my husband and we kept it in mind. Time for a nap, it’s vacation right!? Headed out this evening for the Miracle Mile shops and another Lululemon store, I cannot for the life of me remember if we ate this evening, I do know we had drinks! We decided to book the daybed at Harrah’s for Wednesday.

Wednesday: We have always liked to stay at the pool at whatever property we are staying at so we aren’t traipsing around town in our wet swimsuits but neither one of us could take another day at the go pool. So off we went to Harrah’s and we found our place.... (please don’t change it before our next trip.) We were immediately walked to our daybed and fit right in, the music was on, but not crazy loud, could read a book or listen to a podcast without being frustrated, could bring in outside food if we wanted and could also order food poolside from their facility. Here is another great reason that we loved this place, a bucket of beer is $25 before 11am and $35 the rest of day, in comparison to the go pool being $50 then to $60.... this saved us a bunch of money and everything was so clean at this property we decided on our next trip to stay here or at least patronize this pool again. After our day at the pool we headed to the Linq Promenade for In and Out Burger, 2 cheesgurgers mustard fried and animal style fries, so incredible, perfect after pool food. As per our pattern took a nap and then went out late into the evening, this time to the Forum shops (and their Lululemon, I told you I have a problem.) We ate a mixture of appetizers at Gordon Ramsey’s place, pork belly, lobster rolls and Brussel sprouts, all were incredible. (Since we have been traveling more we have been ordering a mixture of appetizers to share and trying new things, this has been a ton of fun, especially in our Summer Vegas travels when we aren’t as hungry in the heat.) Spent time gambling and not winning.... and my wonderful husband took me to the Tiffany store at the Cosmo for some surprise jewelry shopping!!

Okay, I remember where we ate on Tuesday... I feel bad I forgot, we have gotten into a habit of eating at the bar of Batista’s Hole in the Wall, we order the salad, bread and fried ravioli when we visit in the Summer and have a full meal when we get into town in the Winter. It’s a great place to eat and we really enjoy chatting with the bartenders.

Thursday: We travel home this day, so we stay as late as possible in the room and then head down to our Uber to the airport to come back to reality...

This is my first trip report, I have always wanted to do one and now I have.... I also realized that one of the days we ate at Secret Pizza in the Cosmo, but for the life me cannot remember when, I may need to take notes on our next trip to keep my facts straight?

Great first report.

I can't believe your husband did all that shopping with you!

Mine never would.

I find that if I don't actually take notes....even snapping pictures with my phone helps me remeber the order of events.

The shopping involves having drinks along the way... I shop alone at home.  😎

Super TR, keep writing them, very entertaining, your trip seems very relaxing. enjpyed it immensley. Thanks

Enjoyed your trip report.  We always like to read about the things others do to give us ideas.  Thanks for taking the time.

I didn't know Hattie-B's had a place in Vegas- thanks for the info.    There's place called Joella's Hot Chicken thats starting to spread out.  Same kinda thing.  We have a couple in Indy and they are the bomb!

Thanks for the report.Ahh,Batista's.I remember many an argument on this site about ths place.People either loved it or hated it.lol.

Agreed on Batista’s, we tell everyone that we enjoy it and that you have to try it one time. The smell of garlic wafting out of the door on our way to the  convenience store to get our “in the room” beverages gets us every time. 😎

We do our best to truly relax on all of our Vegas vacations, we have our favorite places to visit and don’t usually see shows since there is too much pressure to be “somewhere” we get enough of that in our real life. I won’t even go to conferences in Vegas because I don’t want to have work overlap my happy relaxed place.

Excellent trip report.  Re spending money on the pool beds, why else come to Vegas?  It is something you get a lot of enjoyment from, so always do it.  Sounds like you came home with 'stuff', especially the jewelry!  That's always a good thing...get something for your money.  We always liked Harrah's.  Looking forward to your next TR! P.S. Agree the music is too loud at too many places.  No doubt a generation gap for us.  Still, I don't get it.
