Hello everybody!
I've been a paid member on and off for a couple of years and can't thank you enough for all of the great advice I've gotten from these boards. So, I guess it's about time I introduce myself.
We flew in from LaGuardia on Thursday, June 28. Even though we were staying @ Caesars, we stopped by The Orleans to have some of the clam chowder and oysters we both love. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, it had closed. So, it was off to Caesars. Having received a complimentary upgrade without trying the $20 trick, I tipped Peter $25. We stayed in the Forum Towers and loved the room. Grabbed a quick bite in Cypress and called it a night.
On Friday, after lounging at the pool, we headed to South Point where we had clam chowder, oysters and oyster shooters. Gail recommends the shooters! Played some NSUD, JOB and WOF for a while - had 2 Wheel of Fortune Buttons on the same line twice. Oh, so close. Being very small players, we left ahead a couple of bucks. Next stop was The Minus 5 Ice Bar in Mandalay Bay where we each bought the 2 cocktail package - quite an experience. Back to Caesars, showered and changed before heading to Bellagio for a vist to the Conservatory (during music hour), dinner at the buffet (not overly impressed) and saw 'O' from great seats in Section 203 - thanks GREGRIO (you have always guided us to the best seats in the house). Relieving Bellagio of a few dollars at JOB, we enjoyed our final cocktails of the day.
On Saturday, after lounging at the pool, we headed downtown. Never having done so before, we were determined to spend the day there and we did. Finally listening to SUECASEY, we made Main Street Station our first stop. Had lunch in 777 - great burger, sandwich and black chip porters. Flo was our server. I can see why everybody likes this place so much. We felt very comfortable there, and even though I only broke even (and Gail, after having gazed upon the Goddess Fortuna, lost a few dollars), we will be back. Thanks to SUECASEY and everybody else who guided us there. Off to the Four Queens and very good cocktail service. Hit 4 of a Kind on a NSUD, a nice run on the WOF and came out about a hundred ahead. Gail, still reeling from the Goddess Fortuna, dropped a few more bucks as her hatred of the statue intensified. I had been promising Gail the best crab legs she will ever have for about 6 years now. For one reason, or another, we never made it to the El Cortez before. We did this past trip. I can't remember the names of all the members that praised the crab legs, but you were all right - thank you. And to those that praised the cream corn (pardon me for having been skeptical - after all, it's only cream corn), you were very right yourselves. Yes, it was the best (by far) that I ever had. Mark was our server and we enjoyed his company very much. I'm told they made a pretty good Mojto. Played a bit before dinner and had the weakest malibu bay breeze ever made - no malibu rum; no rum; tasted like Hawaiin Punch. We'll be back to The Flame. Back to Caesars and played very little before calling it a day.
Sunday. Our traditional visit to Bally's Sterling Brunch. Still wonderful, but boy has business fallen off there. No line; open tables and we (Gold Card holders, no less) were seated in the VIP section - the last time we were there they seated in the room across the hall. Back to South Point to win that WOF Progressve Jackpot. Didn't win, but still like the place. Back to Caesars to see the aquarium, the show in the Forum Shops, have some gellato and get ready to see Celine. Great Show! Per GREGRIO'S suggestion, we sat in Rear Orchestra 4. No surprise. Great Seats! Thanks Greg. To the room - 7 am flight out the following morning.
Had a great time and as always took the side streets (Sinatra Blvd, just as we had taken Koval the last time we were in town), so thank you to all the transportation advisers on these pages.
Thank you for taking the time to read my first post. I am sorry it's so long.
Best of luck & Royals to all,
Paul & Gail
