Lake Tahoe, July 23, 24, 25.

The wife and I drove up to Lake Tahoe for a few nights. We stayed at Harvey’s on the 16th floor with a stunning lake view- received a comp for both nights. Gorgeous alpine summer weather, low 80’s, some afternoon thunder clouds that quickly departed. Lake Tahoe in July is beautiful.

Harvey's

Had dinner at XVIIII aka 19. Best view in town for dinner, in my opinion. Very good, but not spectacular food.

Gambling: I hit almost every big hand possible on Video Poker, with the exception of (4) Deuces while playing Deuces Wild. I hit; Aces, Aces w/kicker, Royal Flush, probably 18-20 quads. Lots of nice hits. Unfortunately the volume of short pay games I played and my loses at NL Texas Hold’em made this a non-winning (I prefer that to “losing” LOL!) trip from a gambling perspective.

Played a lot of short-pay STP DDB & DW 10-play. Hits lots of quads, but no quads while I had the “multiplier” active.

The Hyatt North Shore

We drove over to Incline Village on the North Shore and went to visit the Grand Hyatt. Very nice hotel. Very nice casino. They really did a nice job here. Private beach, easy fast valet parking.

We had (2) $40-for-$20 Free Play coupons that I printed on line and we planned to cash them in- the experience was a bit odd but worth the effort. The Players Club is also VIP Services. We signed up, got our players cards and then the host gave us computer generated vouchers for the $40 each of Free Play. Interesting. She told us to go to the cashier cage and receive our money- OK. We handed the vouchers to the friendly cashier and she handed us $80 in cash. Groovy! No need to “play it through” one time. Zero risk. Fine by me.

Although we did not play or drink at the Hyatt, I would certainly be willing to return and give it some action. Room rates appeared to start at $250+ so I might not stay there without a comp, but there are several good choices nearby that don’t cost as much.

Back to Harvey's. . .

Lounged poolside at Harvey’s. Drank way too much tequila. Cabo Wabo Cantina, inside Harvey’s, has been nicely remodeled and was doing great business. Lots of parties and live music. A little rowdy but highly recommended.

If you ever have the chance, I enthusiastically encourage you to visit Lake Tahoe. Summer, winter, anytime you can make it up. It truly is a beautiful place to visit. Thanks for reading.
Having lived in Carson City in the 90s I still miss Lake Tahoe. Had a great job as a bellman at Caesars and loved hiking and snow shoeing in the Sierras.
Congrats on the nice hits and for being at the Lake in July. While at the north shore, did you have time to check out the Hyatt's Lone Eagle Grill? It's one of my favorite restaurants and where my avatar pic was taken. My other favorite lakeside restaurant is the restaurant at Camp Richardson. Although opposite in atmosphere, both offer excelent dining experiences.
Hi Lisa. We actually went inside the Lone Eagle Grill. It was closed, as we were there on a Tuesday morning. The menu looked very good. The room itself was very nice, mountain lodge type setting.

We will try and get back there in September for dinner/drinks/gambling.

TWB

JC, as I'm sure you know, Ceasars is gone but Montbleau is there in it's place. They have made some nice renovations and the place was jumpin' when we were there in April.
Hey tommy. Yes I know. Harrahs had to sell it when they bought Harveys and Bills. Was there last year and you are right. They did a nice job.
TWB, I hope you get to enjoy a nice lunch or dinner at the Lone Eagle Grill and have time to walk along the beach. A few summers ago, there was a small bar at the end of a short boardwalk to the left of the restaurant. The walkway swayed back and forth to the rhythim of the waves and had the feeling of being on a boat. Some guy was enjoying a drink as I carefully walked along the path. I always thought it would be fun to stay in the casitas along the beach located to the right of the restaurant.
Talk about great jobs, I spent about two years at the Coast Guard Station in Tahoe City in the mid 80's. Use to live at the two dollar blackjack table at Cal-Neva. The casino was just close enough to the station so I could go play when on was on the recall boat crew. Great Times!
Thanks for the TR - we will be in Tahoe for 2 nights in Sept so this one hit the spot!!
We stayed at Harvey's a few years ago. We had a beautiful room with the most awesome view of the lake. And we won a little money. Hopefully we will return soon. Anyone who hasn't been there should plan a trip.
