What a great trip report - very interesting, entertaining and touching. It's great that you had such fantastic luck on your first solo trip. Sorry to hear of your loss, but it sounds like you have wonderful memories of your time together.

Congratulations on having such a profitable trip. That sure helps to make up for lost time not coming to LV!

And as for Starbucks, it as far as I know has things other than Coffee to drink -- like Tea (I think) and Hot Chocolate.

And yes, Downtown is a nice place to wander around. I also wonder if the pays that you were getting from the table games on the Strip were worse (lower) than those you got Downtown?

And yes, upstairs at the D is a lot less quiet than the Downstairs.

Hopefully you'll have another nice trip in September.

RecVPPlayer - on your question about the table game payouts. I played 3 Card Poker, Crazy 4, Ultimate Texas Hold Em orTexas Hold Em Bonus (these 2 games are never at the same casino) at the Golden Nugget, the D & Fremont downtown and then Harrahs, Paris, Mirage (for a short time) & Excalibur on the strip. The only difference I saw was usually the 3 Card Poker flush is 3 to 1, but someplace it was 4 to 1. I'm sorry, but I don't remember which location. I remember when the game first came out it was 4 to 1 everywhere.

Wonderful trip report. Doesn't it make the trip even more fun when you are winning?
After my husband died, I was quite nervous about taking a solo trip to Las Vegas. Once I arrived, I had a wonderful time. Did you feel safe, at least most of the time? Doing things alone, that you enjoyed with your husband brings on bittersweet memories. Now you have more memories of Vegas.
Have a great time in September. Mmm I should look into booking my next trip.
