Late January 2016 Vegas Trip---Lightening Strikes Twice

The El Cortez does have good blackjack rules, but the stoned faced dealers really are a turn off. I swear if one of them gave me a smile, it would crack their face. Playing for the entertainment value is a high priority when I sit at a BJ table. The rules at the Golden Gate are not as good as the El Co, but I always have one hell of a good time; win or lose. Since I will be staying at the El Cortez for a couple of days next month, I guess I'll have to give them some play..maybe have a few of those premium martinis at the Parlor bar (two for one during happy hour) will mellow me out and I won't mind the dealers so much.
Great TR Big Lar! Keep the Royals coming. Looking forward to seeing you and Mad Man Mike next month, Fremont on St. Patrick's Day coupled the the first day of March Madness will be a blast.

Okay! I do place some value on entertainment value, but I value more better rules since that can make it more likely that I'll win more or lose less and I'll take that over stone faced dealers anytime!

Terrific TR! Congrats on the two Royals and all the fun you had.

But I have an even better 'lousy BJ player' story.

I'm playing BJ Switch at Bellagio. (I know...tough game but I love it.)
This guy was dealt 5 (2,3) on one hand, two 10s on the other.
Dealer has a 5 up.
The guy wants to DOUBLE on his 5.
Dealer tries to explain why it isn't a good move. He insists. Draws a 10.

Then he SPLITS his 10s on the other. Dealer again tried to explain why he shouldn't.
But he insists. "You have a bust card!", as if he possessed all knowledge of the universe.

"It isn't guaranteed that I'll bust, and you have 20 right now", says she.
But he persists, he knows the game. Splits his 10s.
Busts out on both.
Yea!
(Usually I cheer for everybody else at the table, but...)
And he lost on his double to his 5, too. Tee hee.

Afterward, he says something to the effect that it was just bad card luck that he lost. Geez.
Thankfully he didn't stay long.

Anyhoo, thanks, BIGLAR73 for a very fun report!

Wow, that's some strange sh*t. I know that those kinds of players are not supposed to affect your play in the long run, but they just drive me nuts by being so clueless. What's worse is when they start making "suggestions" or comments about your play. Glad you enjoyed the report.
Two royals! I'm still trying for one! Yeah that bonus bet is enticing, but it is a sucker bet from what I've read so I don't play it either. It can sting sometimes though! Thanks for the report
