Arrived in Las Vegas August 28, via Air Canada, for the long weekend. Air Canada uses the new terminal which is handy. You arrive, go down the escalator and out the door where there are lots of cabs and shuttles awaiting. Shared a cab with another lady going to the Hard Rock, and I continued on to Bally's. Fare was $28 in total.
Checked in at Bally's and was upgraded to a North Tower mini suite. Nice, since my first few days are at a $23.00/night rate. Walked out of the sports, shopping concourse exit, crossed the parking lot behind the hotel, and went to Ellis Island. While I was waiting for a table, I managed to lose a $20 slot voucher which greatly annoyed me (how can I be so stupid). However their $7.99 steak dinner was great and I love their light beer, and made a little on their slots.
The next day I arranged another mini suite for my sister and her boyfriend, across the hall with a view of the Bellagio fountains. Again at a $23/night for Wednesday and Thursday. They arrived from Vancouver, B.C. that evening. I took them to Mon Ami Gabi at Paris so they could see the Bellagio fountains and have some French cuisine. It was a great reunion for us in a lovely setting. Also their first trip to Vegas, as well. Next morning off to the lovely pool. We spent a lot of time at Bally's pool which has a 12 ft. deep end - great for swimming.
Thursday, went to the Mirage in the afternoon, played the slots, drank a Corona and then saw the Cirque show Love. It was fabulous as always. My sister thought it was her favourite show ever. We had a few drinks and appies at BB Kings night club afterwards and then strolled the strip home to Bally's.
Friday, the same routine, mornings at the pool, a little gambling and rest time in the afternoon. Then walked over to the Aria to the last show of Viva Elvis. It wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the music and acrobatics. How can you not like Elvis in Las Vegas! After the show I wanted to show my sister the Flamingo habitat so ended up eating out on the deck of Carlo's and Charlies. Pretty good fish tacos! Great party atmosphere.
Saturday, swam in the pool, took the shuttle to the Orleans for a little gambling and their French Buffet. Love the ribs at the Orleans. $20 for all three of us. (Used a few points, there). Later, walked up the Strip to the Venetian and saw the second last Phantom show. So sad it's gone. Loved it as well. Had dinner after the show at Canaletto's. Rigatoni, pizza and a few appetizers and, of course, a bottle of Italian red wine. Pricey, but good food.
Sunday, my sister left early for Vancouver and I left for the Golden Gate. They give me 2 free nights and $20 slot play twice a month and I seem to accumulate $125 free dining credits every month as well, so I take them up on it as much as I can, considering that I am such a low roller. They are very welcoming and I find it's a fun place. The food is pretty much all homemade at DuPars.
So Tuesday morning I said goodbye and left for Victoria, B.C. with another great trip to remember. Thanks for reading this ( my first trip report).
