I have been a fan of Widespread Panic since my 1st show in 1991, seeing them at least once a year. I knew they were playing at the Joint (Hard Rock) on 7/12 & 7/13. I was waiting to hear about a Southern California show. On 7/9 I got an email from the band saying a few tickets left for Vegas shows (no LA dates). I check with my wife she says go!
I go online with TicketMaster & score my Saturday ticket. As an afterthought I take their survey. Next day I get an email from TicketMaster marketing saying thanks for participating, you have won a $250 Ticketmaster gift card!
I had a room comp at M but they were sold out for 7/13. Hard Rock wanted something stupid like $300 a night. I went on i$vegas and got a room at Terribles ( now Silver Sevens) for $80 per night. Terribles is a 5 minute walk on Paradise to the Hard Rock.
Left Long Beach at 2:30 on Friday, got to M at 7PM. I had a free buffet with line pass. M buffet is reliable with beer and wine included. Had dinner, got to Silver sevens at 8:30.
Silver Sevens has nicely upgraded their tower rooms, very comfortable bed. I hit the casino Playing $5 crap 3X4X5X odds and $25 blackjack cash out + $500 at midnight.
Next morning I'm out at their beautiful pool area at 8 AM. They have large mature stone pine for shade alone with the mandatory palm trees. Super mellow,you can bring your own drinks without question.After swimming take a nap.
I head over to the Palms as I have heard they have decent VP. The new Cantor? book is beautiful. I qucikly double my $100 buy in on 25 cent 5 play, cash out. Walk around to check out the place. Before I split I decide to get a "free" beer. Sit down at the bar, while I take a call from my son 4OAK, cash out another +30.
I head over to Ellis Island, I used the free drink coupon just for fun, Good Beer. Decided to buy a filled Growler for $12.50. Before I left I bought in at blackjack for $100, 3 minutes later I cash out for $200.
Back to the pool at Silver Sevens, just hung out and chatted with the locals.
Walked down to Hard Rock a little early. Went to Mr. Lucky"s for the $7.77 steak and shrimp special which was good. Ran into 3 old Hippies I knew from Dead tour, can't believe the guys are still alive. Yeah!
Had a little time to kill before the show so I went into Pink Taco, figured I'd get a "free" beer. Sat down at the bar, stick in a $20 . I would normally never touch this machine 7/5 JOB. Second hand I pull 4OAK, OK good start. A few hands later I hold JQ hearts pull the Royal, $1954 progressive! Went to the show (Killer). I left during the encore at 1:05 walked back to Silver Sevens, went to bed. At 8:15 Sunday I'm driving out of town taking their $1700 with me. Fun trip!
