LV Trip Sept. 1st-8th, Day1

Trip consists of me-Darcie, and hubby Chris. It's bad enough having to be up at 5:30am to get ready for work, but getting up at 3:30am and leaving at 4am for 7:25 am flight out of Cleveland is not fun, but when you want non-stop you get up and go. Flying SW. No problems with security. Now to sit around and entertain ourselves until time to board. Chris went to Subway, $8.50 for 2 waters, and 6 inch bacon and cheese breakfast for him. We had A boarding passes, plane wasn't full so I sat by window, middle seat empty and Chris had aisle seat. Chris watched a movie and I read magazines and slept a little. Landed about 25 minutes early, got luggage in good time and off to shuttle bus for rental car. Used Dollar and got Toyota Camry.

First order of business is to go to LV 51's to get tickets for Saturday night game. Find out box office doesn't open until noon, we'll be back. Stopped at Fashion Show Mall to see what is available at tix4tonight. The only show we knew for definite we wanted to see was Jeff Dunham, and he wasn't on list so got tickets to see Murray the Magician on Wednesday afternoon. Decided to go see if we could check in to The Orleans early. We are staying there the first 3 nights for free. On the way stop at In-N-Out Burger for lunch. $11.45 for a double-double, cheeseburger, order of fries,2 small drinks. Checked in early and got newly remodeled room on 12th floor. Amazing how about a week prior to going to Vegas The Orleans had sent us a reminder and wanted to know if we wanted to upgrade to a newly remodeled room for a price. We have stayed at The Orleans numerous times and have enjoyed our stays. The only bad thing is there air conditioning units are loud when they kick on. No little sewing kit or postcards in room anymore. Went and got new player cards because I'm terrible about keeping my slot cards together. Today is gift day for 300 points you could get ladies slippers, so we got one pair.

Went back to get baseball tickets, and got the $15 a seat tickets, they had different prices depending on seat and if you purchased early or day of game. Tickets more expensive than Akron Rubberducks. Had decided to go to Bellagio Buffet for early supper, used Vegas Rewards 2 for 1, $37.82. We were there at 3:10pm, so didn't have any wait. The food was good and they would steam your crab legs, but if we would have had to pay full price, wouldn't have eaten there. Afterwards we went to PH to turn in vouchers for Murray tickets, and then walked around shopping area stopping at ABC store for waters and postcards, $3.08. I usually do postcards the first day or next day, but this time didn't get around to doing them until the day we left. Went back to hotel and played some slots. We are not big gamblers, our gambling budget is $100 each per day. Today we ended up $20, thanks to Chris having success with Flintstones slots. Tired from being up so early so ret'd to room around 9pm. Will post more next week.
Thanks for Day 1 of your report! Wow, a whole week in LV is nice. About all I can get away for is 3 or 4 nights at any one time but that's about as much of LV as I want.

I understand now that the 51's are a farm team of the New York Mets. So the team's affiliation has changed over the years. I understand that previously it was the farm team of the Toronto Blue Jays and before that over the years I believe that it has also been a farm team for the Los Angeles Dodgers (I think) as well as the San Diego Padres (I think).

Looking forward to reading more parts of your adventure!

Very nice first day report.

I wish our SWA non-stops left early consistently. I wonder how they decide this? There is one non-stop each way each day. Sometimes it leaves mid morning (yea), sometimes late afternoon (boo).

Looking forward to more about your trip!
Thanks for Day 1! I am glad to hear things went smooth with SWA as I am using them for the first time ever in a few days. They are a new carrier out of Mpls.-St. Paul. Glad to hear you came out ahead on your first day. I hate getting up early, too, but Leaving for a Vegas vacation is the exception. Usually too excited to sleep the night before anyway! Gail
