I really needed this trip because I just did a new restaurant opening and had been working way too may hours per week. I booked this 2 weeks before I left and then counted down the days...
March 7
My flight wasn't until 5 pm so I had tons of time to pack and get to the airport. I have recently moved from Syracuse, NY to the Atlanta, GA area so I gave myself plenty of time to get to the airport. My flight on Delta is just fine and we land a little early. When I get to the baggage carousel my bag is already there! Awesome! Short line for a taxi. I tell the driver "Harrahs with an H" (didn't want to end up at Paris). He says "you been here before". I say "yes and no tunnel please". He then proceeds to take me via Las Vegas Blvd. Are you kidding me? Fare is $18.40, he gets a $20. Oh, well!
Only 1 person infront of me for check in. 3 nights comped, classic room. I didn't care about the room because this was a solo trip and was only using the room to sleep and shower. Room is clean and I unpack. Time to hit the casino...
There is a red hat convention (they were everywhere at Harrahs) and it is NASCAR weekend. Interesting mix. I play various slots and DDB video poker. I hit $200 4 OAK relatively early. I play between Harrahs and Casino Royal for a little while. I hit for $200 on Ruby Slippers at Casino Royal (not bad for an .80 bet. Back at Harrahs I hit a few more $100 4OAK's. Broke even for the night and in bed by 11:30.
March 8
Up at 7 and out the door by 7:30. I walk down to Paris to partake of the breakfast buffet. No line at 7:45. Eggs bene, bacon, hashbrowns, fruit filled crepe, delicious as ususal. I used my coupon so it was only $6.00. I walk down to Cosmo on a beautiful morning to find a TV to watch the SU game (Big East tourney). I find it on a big screen but the bar area is not open until 10, but the guy setting up says I can sit there to watch the game. During halftime I go down to Planet Hollywood and find the game on a screen right above a slot machine. SU wins, I lose $40. I walk over to the Bellagio after getting a hot chocolate from the Sugar Factory (yummy). The conservatory is under construction so not much to see there. Over to Caesars to get a Frrrozen hot chocolate at Serendipity 3. Play Batman slots while sipping my frozen heaven and win $50. I go back over to harrahs to take a nap because I gave myself a tummy ache from all the morning sugar.
Good nap. Go over to Casino Royal for a $1.99 hot dog. I love hot dogs and this one is good and cheap. Perfect snack for me! Over to Venetian/Palazzo to see spring display and play a little. I cash out even after a few hours of playing various slots.
Back to Harrahs, I play Lobstermania 2 and quickly cash out $150. Couldn't get the bonus but kept hitting the mini progressive. Hit a few low 4OAKs. Probably down $200 for the day, but I had a good day walking around. Went to bed by 11.
March 9
Last full day. Up early again and I walk down to the Flamingo to eat at the buffet. I have never been to their buffet. It is basic breakfast fare. I get an omelete and some other stuff. It is OK but I wouldn't return without a coupon. I visit the flamingos while I am there, another first for me (I have been going 1 to 2 times per year for 12 years, yet missed this one). Nice to see on such a beautiful morning.
I walk down to MGM stopping at the small shops on the way. I bought a small over the shoulder carry on bag. It does come in handy for all the small things I bought including $32 worth of M&M's (had to get special colors for my friends kids). Get to the MGM but don't stay too long. I miss the lions. It just isn't the same in there without them. I did play a 4 way kitty glitter/maltese fortune game and hit a bonus for $150.
I walk down to Monte Carlo to go to the Cupcakery to get a cupcake. Strawberry. Yummy!!! I love their cupcakes. I take a long stroll and end up at Cosmo again. I go to the hidden pizza place for lunch. Well worth it to me. I love thin crust pizza! I spend the rest of the day casino hopping and visit the mall at Caesars and the Planet Hollywood. Dinner is at PH buffet and with my coupon and comp dollars, my dinner is only $4. While I am there, there is a guy eating in the same section. He leaves but does not tip the server (He like sneaks out). When I leave, I leave $10 tip and a note saying "it was rude of that man to not tip you, hope you have a good night". I do believe in Vegas karma. I hope he loses his butt at the tables!
After dinner I go down to the Bellagio to watch a few fountain shows. I could watch them all day, they are my all time favorite free attraction. Back to Harrahs, try to get the .25 progressive but hit $200, $100 and a few low 4OAKs instead. Switch to play some slots. Back to VP and hit 4 aces with kicker for $500. Woo-Hoo! Try a little whlie longer for a royal but it just isn't in the cards for me this trip. Off to bed.
March 10
Up at 6:30 to pack and go to the airport. I usually don't play at the airport but felt lucky. I got a low 4OAK and cash out $60. That sixty dollars put me totally even for the trip. I came back with exactly what I left with.
Some observations:
-Those characters that dumb tourists pay for pics during the day, sit on the sidewalk and drink beer all night. Just what I want my kid seeing, spongebob drinking a beer.
-This was the first week that animals were banned from the strip after 11 am. I was happy they made that law. But do remember that jacka$$es are still allowed on the strip anytime. lol
-I walked everywhere because it was perfect outside. 72 and sunny. Could not have asked for better daytime weather.
-It was chilly at night so I ended up drinking enough hot chocolate to make Santa jealous.
-The MGM just wasn't the same without the lions.
-I love Las Vegas and can't wait to go back!
Hope I didn't bore you to death. Thanks for reading. I am booking for late July. I haven't been there for the heat in a while so this should be fun. (I will be switching from hot chocolate to frozen margaritas!)
