March18-24, Station Casinos

Arrived late from Detroit on the 18th, stayed at GVR for 4 nights with comped rooms. The room was nice overlooking pool, too bad the weather was in the 60's. My wife and I found the gambling at GVR to be good, we play ddb and some blackjack. The paytables were good and the blackjack has 5 dollar tables.

We probably have a 3000 bankroll and generally play the dollar machines sometimes going to 2 dollars and sometimes the wife plays quarters. My theory is if we dont have a w2 we are going home down money. We had 1 w2 for $1600 on a 2 dollar machine(that doesnt count). We ate at the buffet(12 free mailers) and had a additional breakfast bill for 150.00, the host picked up the breakfast bill, I always ask. She pointed out we won money while we there, but still picked up the room charges. We like GVR and will go back. We really like the workout and spa facility.

We saw Bon Jovi at MGM and my wife loved the concert and Bon Jovi, we also saw Vinnie Favaritto(close enough) which I thought was the funniest show I have seen in a while. His show is built around calling out people in the audience, we didnt get called on(wew). We also saw Sin city comedy which was good, dont know if I could recommend. I would definitely recommend Vinnie, to most of my friends.

We had 2 more days comped at MGM and after we saw Bon Jovi there, my wife decided she did not want to put up with all the people and chaos at MGM. We caller RR and we cancelled MGM and stayed there for 2 days. They comped for the room but did not pickup our room charges .We went to TBones for happy hour, it was good and would recommend that you get over for that. The paytables were consistent with Station casinos and did well the first day, the second day I kept trying and trying but I couldnt hit anything and put us down for trip in the 1000-1500 area.(amazing how luck and machines turn off)

Overall had a nice trip with poor weather, always a gamble in March. The weekend ended with picking up my daughter from Detroit airport and we stopped up at MGM in Detroit.(still had the fever) We came out $1300 ahead after hitting 4aces with a kicker on a .50 machine.
When everyone asks me how we did in vegas,I am going to add in the little trip to Detroit MGM and tell them free trip!!!!

Good for you it's nice to see someone win.
Thanks for reporting and that's nice that you came up in the end in Detroit to make up for the LV losses.

Sounds like a free trip to me! I'm glad you enjoyed GVR, I did not when I stayed there in December. Treated me poorly, but you play much higher denominations than I do, glad to hear you were treated well.

Don't blame you one bit for bailing on the MGM, I love RR and would chose it over MGM any day. Thanks for posting your trip report!

Also rented a premium car from Alamo $210 for the week, the smoothest quickest car rental ever. Used the 50% off coupon at palms and had over $100 dollars on comps from last year. Thank you for all the info on the web site.
Good report, sorry to read things turned sour at the end gambling wise.

Agree with you about Vinnie. I've seen the show four times now and find him hilarious. However, I have to warn those that his style of comedy is not for everyone. He's crass, he's vulgar, and if you have thin skin, stay away...but I live it.

I've never been able to get into Stations. They're comp system is too secretive...you never know where you really stand and their mailings are too slim. But I like all their properties.

Thank for the report.
Thanks for the report. I agree w/the MGM crowd madness and we haven't stayed there for awhile because of that. We're staying 2 nights at RR (1st time) comped and 3 at NYNY comped. I think NYNY is just ok but my teenage son loves the art deco theming and the location so I gave in. Glad you won at the very end; what a great feeling
