Martin's Trip Report - Day 2

Day 2 of 6 – Sunday Oct 5, 2014

Tier score: 21, 304 (4696 base pts to go to reach Sapphire at 25K pts….)

For the next 3 days at Sam’s Town, they had a great promotion that gave approx 1% freeplay back on your card, per below:

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in October

Play your favorite machines and you’ll earn Bonus Slot Dollars to use the following day!
For every 500 base points you earn, you’ll receive $5 in Bonus Slot Dollars.
Up to $50 Bonus Slot Dollars each day!

Bonus slot dollars will be available after Noon the day following the earning period and will remain available through Midnight. Bonus is based on single earned points only, excludes all point multipliers. Play on video poker machines marked as ‘not available for point promotions’ are not eligible for this promotion**. See B Connected for details.

** 100% games include (FPDWs, 15-8 Loose Deuces, 10/6 DDB, and 10/7 DBs).
All other vp games are eligible for .25 and below, as far as I know. This even includes .50c/$1 9-6 JB games…and other games ‘up to 99.9%’...

Besides the ‘Free Football Picks’ (My dad had 2, I had 1), I also had the teaser bet open from last night.
6 Team “Ties Win” teaser card (I have done ok on these in the past, extra pts do seem to help):
Boise St 51, Nevada Wolfpack of Reno 46, but with +10 I won the first ‘leg’.
Next 5: 1. Chi Bears +7 at Car (Lost 31-24, TIE wins!), 2. Cowboys PK over Houston (Won OT 20-17 whew!), 3. Pt -1 @ JQ , won ugly low score 17-9, 4. SD-NYJ under 49, easy win 31-0 shutout, and DOH! #5 Detroit -2 as a board TD fav over Bills, LOST 17-14! Cost me $10.

Backup Teaser 6pts off the board: 6 team/totals again, suffice it to say, I needed the extra 6 with Atl in Nyg (lost 30-20, so tied dropped potential payoff). The loser on this ticket was the NE-cinci game going well OVER 51.5 pts (NE goes crazy, after subpar games, and Cinci’s defense – where’d it go?, losing 40-17).

Net of -15, but oh what action!

Tried some vp, earned the first 500 pts (+5 back so far next day), but -50 on the JB (donated back yesterdays winnings). Tried a nickel Blazing 7s prog near poker room over $91 (usually hits by $80 from $75 reset)… lost $15 more. Showed my dad some new games today, starting with the Emerald Deuces by poker room. He gave them a try but had his first major loss (and only big loss of the trip of -250). At least he had freeplay next day.

He would go back to the ‘regular’ FPDWs, while I tried my luck in the $23 Morning NL Poker tourney. I survived to make it all the way to the Final Table again! (I’m about 75% fortunate so far in this little 4-5 table tourney). However will only pay to 4 places. At 6—handed, they generously add a 5th place bubble prize ($25, or rebate on your entry fees). Unfortunately, soon I’m all in in the BB (Blinds are really high now, and I never did build up a chip stack – just survived to make it this far…). I get 2-6 offsuit, and need a miracle. I did get gutshot ST on board, but needed ‘5’ never showed up and I Bubbled Out in 6th place. -23 more, but 2.5 hours of play. I’m ready for a lunch break, and check on my dad. He’s entrenched in a ‘battle’ again with the FPDWs, and just wants a HD (already had his beer from the cocktail servers). So I get him the 1.50 Sportsbook /Fball special – not too big, but sufficient. GC/So Pointe’s maybe better at 0.75c, but price is still ok.

I stop by the free Sam’s Town Live (Denise Clement still singing tunes there, along with guest appearance acts); For free from 1-2:30pm, not a bad way to spend the afternoon. I go back to the SportsDeli for the $6 Cheeseburger Special with chips and a soda (only 3600 pts though or $3.60 using pts!). I catch the end of the Chargers shutting out the NYJ, before re-energized for some more vp play.

I convince my dad later to join me for Bingo at ST-7pm.

I battle valiantly, even chasing a 7/5 BP prog (near FPDWs) for $1 bet, prog RF was over $1300. I tried shortpay 20-5-4 JW game too, but noticed SF is cut 40-1 vs 50-1. Later checking VpFree—this JW variant is only around 95% game, so best not to play it too much. 7/5 BP 98% base, but prog RF boosted it closer to 99% and with 1% freeplay bonus – playable. I just was short a few quads, esp those Bonus quads again!. I manage 2508 tier base (for +25 rebate via freeplay next day), but was around -10% loss rate again on VP (-200).

It was around 5:30pm, and I went to find my dad. He wasn’t hungry (he brings snacks in the room, yogurts, bananas, crackers, etc, and we even have all those Ice Teas…). But he did quit playing, and told me he hit maybe ‘only ‘ 2 sets of ducks today to recoup/break about even. He also tried that .25c 3-coin Blazing 7s prog, creeping over $6k now. He got the mixed 7s and solids a few times, to keep it a minor loss (but good for him- as I explained freeplay next day promo)…

7pm: Bingo Recoup – Call it luck, karma, or maybe just having my Dad there.

7pm Session – This was the best time to try Bingo at ST (as well as maybe 11am Sundays in Oct).

At 11am and 7pm, they draw a random player after every session game (games 2-11) for 10 winners. Each winner could ‘Take it ($50), or Trade it (chance up to $500).’ Also their DualDaub prog – the same jackpot I witnessed at South Point hit for $48K in 34 #s called, well ST prog was around $40K in 35#s or less.

7pm also paid ‘double’ on games 3-5-7-9-12’. 11am all regular pay games. 3rd chance for Coverall winners on last game both sessions,

We each purchased an ‘electronic’ pkg special – I recommend these. They are ‘discounted’ packs that give you multiple cards/chances for discounted rate, and basically the ‘electronic’ portable computer or stand-alone monitors will ‘tell’ you when you are close to winning. I hope to show JMAN how this works if there’s a good bingo promo next time….

For $37 + $23 (23 single DualDaub jackpot game cards), we settle in at 2 side-by-side computer fixed monitors (bigger vs the portable units), and I start to explain to him all the various games. He is a little overwhelmed – What with all the video boards and trying to figure out the cards on the monitor – I tried to explain that you only need to focus on the cards that are less than 3 number away, preferably 2 or 1 (lights up which Number you need called next to win!)….I guess Bingo is for those who like ‘multi-sensory’ activity. He asked – what happened to the simple 1-card per person and markers/chips that you just used to mark the cards? I said like other games – electronic age has caught up with Bingo.

While there are a few ‘paper only’ halls in town (Aliante and Fiestas), most offer the electronic packs. Ours was $37 apiece for 90 basic blue cards (Bingo win pays $50 for blue cards), or Double on certain games for this session. We were also validated for the one Bonus Ball this session (called the Hot Ball), and it was the first number drawn before all games began: G-48.

Other than the 1st game (Letter T) and last 3 games (Hardway 1-line Bingo into 2 Hardways, then Coverall), all the other games were a regular 1-line Bingo (freespace allowed) followed by a 2-line Bingo.

Early on, with 180 cards between me and my dad (and maybe 150 players tops, figuring we purchased at least as many or perhaps slightly more cards than others), we had decent chances. In fact, I think during game 3 or 4, between both of our monitors, I saw at one point during the end of those first few games over 20 numbers lit up, including the HotBall (G-48)! Had THAT ball been called, that was worth an extra $1251! (taxable win)….

I guess I was too excited, my dad was simply overwhelmed and didn’t enjoy the experience like I thought he might. Dual Daub was a bust, I’m starting to think this particular game is hard to hit – like a lottery or Keno. Still fun to play. With 2 numbers per square twice as many chances to win, but also twice as many ‘teasing’ chances, too! Consolation winner gets $200, but I don’t think I’ll invest more than $5-10 anymore on this one. And it has it’s own ‘separate’ cost and hotball (usually not worth paying for).

Well, they had finished up game 9 and the Dual Daub game 10. Neither my dad nor I were called yet either. Down to last 2 games and coverall. Believe it or not,, and better late than never, on the next HardWay 1-line Bingo game, we needed the HotBall G-48 to be called. About a 1:65 chance, and IT SHOWED UP on my card!

Another player also needed it, so actually that meant a split prize win (and NO taxes!). $25 + $626 = $651 gross win! I share $200 with my dad later (That’s all he wanted, as he was still on cloud 9 from the previous days action, and break-even today). I go from what looked like to be my usual ‘drain’ for tier pts of -200 on 2-3k pts to +190 for the trip! (or +145 only today, sounds so pitiful after $651 win, but really that was +385, after small tip and $200 to my dad and -60 buy in)….

Dad, having a great time

Great way to end the day, however! It’s about 8:10pm, and my dad’s tired out, so off to the room he goes. I decide to go check out the SNF score (disappointed in NE’s crushing of Cinci – I’d have preferred a lower scoring blowout). Oh well, only $5 lost.

I unload extra things not needed (fball tix, bingo pgms, etc) to the room, my dad’s just watching some TV, and not hungry. I go down to Billy Bob’s to celebrate the win with their advertised special of the evening : Steak and Lobster $14.99 after 9pm.

Billy Bob’s is still a nice lodge/steakhouse. Not as busy as it could be, but given regular prices are Steakhouse prices, that’s one reason why. Great to have these specials to bring people in. A few are there, but it’s quiet.

A few pics:

How'd that Stagecoach get attached to the ceiling?

My steak (NY strip – but it’s the Lobster decent medium to large size that made the meal!).

Total Cost: with Ice Tea, tip about $20. Used pts (around 11,000 or $11 worth for $18+ tab!).

Spent about $45 in real cash (tips, ffood meals, Peggy Sues, gas et al), but also comp’d 2 nights, +25 in meals.

QFTS monitor: Now at “24172” (bingo gained 360 pts at 6x pts, I think). Comps pts balance still over 35000 ($60 if used only at BillyBobs, Willy and Joses, The Firelight Buffet, or Sports Deli).

More Tomorrow…

Martin
Thanks Jman for posting this and to Martin for writing it and posting the nice photos including seeing what your father looks like!

Great going, Martin, on the Bingo win! And good use of the Freeplay and 6X points promos!
