Day 5 of 6 – Wednesday Oct 8, 2014
I forgot the summary for yesterday: Tier score ended at 30, 795, with a loss of -210 (-40 GC, but got a 2-mug ceramic set with lid covers for hot/cold drinks and -170 at ST ON 3010 vp play few or no quads or royals, some JW play). +40 in ST meals (30 from Dennis at Billy Bob’s), spent only about $7 in tips. This trip could either head back to even (I was still ahead about $220 for the trip), but as it’s nearing the last day or 2 of play, could go down to even or a slight loss, or springboard ahead to +500 or more! Such is the volatility of .25c vp play (as most players who play 2k-4k daily)….
Today was still 7x pts for me (at a minimum for play at ST, OR a higher random multiplier, from 7am – 7pm, once you picked your Young at Heart or YAH multiplier).
All the promotion rules are posted at each B-connected club booth, or in Sam’s Town, a bigger board display outside Shepler’s entrance, near Bingo on 2nd floor is pictured here:

It was still early, and we decided just to eat leftovers (from Billy Bob’s cranberry nut bread, and bananas, etc) in the room. Then my dad wanted to try the Dbl Deuces again. I told him about the 2 machines upstairs outside of Bingo area, near YAH promos (which I also had to explain to him). I said, basically after picking a Multiplier, which would add bonus on your play (non-FPDW), then start play. After 100pts, coupons for free buffets later could be used instead of paying with pts. There was also a ticket for $4 movie (had to see before 4pm though), and YAH drawings at 4:15pm (25 pts/e-ticket).
I first picked my Multiplier for the YAH DAY, and I chose a “15x VP, 30x penny slots” multiplier! This was a good one. My dad was next, and he got the same! Dennis later told me he got a small one, but his 7x pts was still valid for the day (as well as mine, for any play after 7pm)…
We began play on the Dbl-Deuces, and I soon lost $50 and quit. My dad kept plugging on. I was scouting around this area and saw the Progressive in the tiny Stagecoach Bar (only 8 bartops, and about 3-4 tables for drinkers to sit at behind). The Prog RF sign for .25vp games was over $1575. I was intrigued, and checked the games, finding ugly deuces and 9/7 DB as best games. Also had 9/6JB nonprog for .50c/$1 vp players on them. I went back to tell my dad about this, and he shows me a winning tix >$500 – He told me he held 1 deuce and the other 3 popped up! He’s the duck hunter! Then I show him the ugly deuces RF prog game in the bar, and he is a happy camper. Restrooms nearby, friendly, convenient bar service, and he is set for the day.
I forgot to mention, either yesterday or today (I’m thinking it was Tues) – I did try the $23 NL one last time, but busted out early, right after the break. Basically if you have few chips, it is NL, and you have to pick a hand to go All in. Earliest I had busted out in a while, at 1110am, from 10am start time.
Back to the bartops, this would be my lucky day… After 100 pts, though, and even though only 1 other player was there this morning, we had the bartender lock up our seats (they will do that for you – with these funny “Gone Fishing/away” signs. We printed out all our YAH free dinner buffet tix for later, and began heavier play for dwg tix – planned on staying for today’s dwg after 4:15pm…
Deuces #1 – I was (sort of) the first to strike. I nudged my dad (Mr. Deuces) – and had him hit my draw button, holding 3 deuces. I needed the 2 of Diamonds – and he drew it for me! I was surprised, but he was nonchalant (as if it was supposed to happen whenever HE touched the machines…lol):
A great start to my day, after the minor (-50) loss on DblDeuces….

We joke later that he was still well ahead of me (since his deuces were $500 win today).
That’s ok, though, because I move one machine over, starting with a fresh Benji – and this time I drew my OWN jackpot, holding 2 -2 s, and filling the other two!
Wow – first time in a while I hit 2 sets in short session! Now I caught up to his win, and were both free rolling ($500 in wins today), and still ahead for the trip.

Note : The Prog RF now was starting to climb at $1592.25c, and a few other players joined us. Some played KENO (at least it wasn’t the annoying Caveman noise game), but most tried DDB or DB vp.
Only my dad and I seemed to be playing the deuces games. As we plugged away, Dennis saw us in here and stopped by to see how things were going. He was donating back at ST this visit, but had won at Boulder St (5 of a kind FPJW, and Deuces there). He wanted to still play the JW85 game (17 for 4k, 4700 rf), as he had better luck on those. We made plans to tentatively meet up for free YAH Dinner buffet around 6-6:30pm, to check out possible lines.
Around 2-2:30pm, I was tired (sign of old age?). I also was hungry again, but knowing we’d have a big dinner buffet later, I left my dad and he said he’d join me up in the room later for a short nap, before the dwgs…. I reminded him to ‘activate’ his drawing tickets anytime after 215pm on the Kiosks, which I did. Later those can get busy right before the dwgs…..I then went back down the escalators to the deli and had an oversized Potato Salad for a mere 1200+ pts ($2 and change), along with other random snacks in the room my dad still had, along with an Iced tea (still from our free 6 packs given out on Saturday). I really was tired, and went for a nap at 3pm in the afternoon.
I didn’t even hear my dad arrive, and thought I set my alarm for 4pm. Turns out I awoke around 4:10pm, have to get my dad up, too. He needed a few minutes longer and said to head down to the dwg area, where he’d join me. I had my doubts, as by the time I arrived, very few people were there, and it was 4:22pm. Turns out I misread the sign details, and the mktg staff was still there. Drawing was to take place at 4:30pm, but you had to be activated by 4:15pm (good thing I had done this earlier, along with my dad). My dad shows up at 4:25pm and asks – where are all the people, I said guess not many showing up today, improving our chances! I had around 91 tix (2275 played), and my dad 114 tix (2850 base vp tier), and we felt we had decent chance, if players not here. However, being early in the month, it was also a dwg where only 5 winners chosen, if no-show, prize would roll over to the next week. It was busier in Aug at Orleans, bec it was the last Wed of the month, so guaranteed winner would be drawn. This was different. Still – 5 prizes ($250 x 2, $500 x 2, and $1250 - $1K + $250 added for no-show winner from last week).
4:30 hits, and they announce the ‘electronic drawing has begun….if your name shows up on the monitor or you hear your name and slot club number when announced, you have 3 minutes to be validated with ID and slot card with our marketing team…”.
Here’s the drawing and timer – I was drawn –the 5th winner! Sorry for the blurry pic, I was a little excited! It’s in green bec. I had just verified myself with marketing team, to ensure I was valid!

Next directions were given, I had to sit in the 5th chair (leftmost end), and we would pick an envelop (placed in those Dwg plastic holder slots on the YAH display board). Each envelope had a large $Amt written on it. Here’s what happened: #1 chose $500. $2 chose $250. #3 chose $500. I shook the man’s hand next to me (Yohannes, I think), who was from out of town, and didn’t realize we each had a 50-50 chance to win either the big (taxable) prize of $1250 or $250. Well he chose the Big Prize, so I ended up with $250! Still, made for a very good winning day! My dad (of course) still wanted $100, which I gave him, as technically, he had slightly more tix and if he won, would’ve shared a part of the prize with me!

Here’s a better pic of my name on the monitor:
One minor glitch occurred with marketing staff – as some members showed up later to ‘ask’ who won, but as all dwg winners were present, nothing was outside the rules, except as a courtesy, the speaker announcer forgot to connect his cable to the casino-wide speaker system, so only those of us in the dwg area heard the winners. I’m not sure if the monitors gave a visual casino-wide either, but “Management reserves all rights”, and drawing participants know (or should know) that you need to be “Present” to win. In general, ST does a good job of ANNOUCING it’s winners on their very loud sound system – ask my dad, who actually was annoyed on our arrival day (Saturday), when they were announcing the weekly 30 Pumpkin Patch winners – took about 15 minutes to call out all the winners.
Sidebar on winnings – They don’t pay you right away, but instead will upload either the winnings in CASHABLE Slot club points OR you can get 10% more if converted to Promo Freeplay. I opted for cashable points, so 250,000 was added to my totals! This would guarantee I don’t blow it all on anything the rest of the day…
Here’s a pic of my total slot pts (1st time I was over 300,000 in ‘comp/cashback’ pts):

Looks like a winning trip guaranteed, now, with $500 in deuces wins and $150 of $250 in cashable pts. I would cash out in the morning, probably $300 worth, leaving a nice balance for future trips.
My dad continued to play for the prog RF, now over $1600, while I decided to experiment with penny slots (at 30x pts). This was a mistake, as I donated $100 in winnings back to ST, with very little play for my buck. I probably should have tried that Blazing 7 instead. Oh well. Still a great day and trip totals.
At 6:30pm, we check out the lines for dinner, still long (with all the free YAH ticket holders – where were these people during the dwg?- no shows?). So my dad sez to get him later when lines are down. hang out with Dennis and Sandy for our final ‘meet’, and get my dad at 7:15pm, with only about 5-6 ahead of us, vs the 35+ (so took 45 min to move the lines thru).
It was a decent dinner buffet, with enough different cuisines to satisfy all. Afterwards, being stuffed, I basically wanted to go back to the room and pack up for the return home. My dad decided to play a little more. I guess he did ok, as did make it back by 10pm, and said he retained the earlier wins We would take one last shot at that prog bar top in the morning, if it hadn’t hit yet.
Meals - all free today, with about -5 in tips, including service at the Stagecoach bar. Total spent for the trip about $65 over 5 days, all nights free, and lots of comp’d meals!
Dinner buffet at Sam’s town is a reasonable 9.99 for dinner, 7.99 for lunch and only 5.99 for bkfst – with B-Connected card. Discounts apply for sapphire, and of course today, basically 2 buffets are free (B/L, and Dinner) after 100pts earned!
Ending Tier score : 34,550! (almost 10K pts past 25k goal) and 358,117 in cb/comp pts.
Gaming + dwg win: + 550/600 for the trip!
Final day tomorrow- All good things come to an end.
