May 2-9th Downtown and Local Spots Part 2

OK, here we go~ Last report I forgot to add our derby play on Sat afternoon. So out of 21, people 3 of us made it to the semi-finals. Top 10 get Free play prizes $100- $2500. Great odds right? We'll not one of us made it through HAHAHa only in Vegas.

Sunday Morning...up around 7:30 played some Keno, Bailey's Coffee...waiting for Tournament prizes to be handed out at 9am. They do 5-$100 just to get us down there. Collected the cash, so with my $500 buy-in, turned it into $1989 (play and $700 4th place) Our other team buy -in got $200 and $300 from the $500 ( not great) The Keno Manager was giving out free tickets to The Scintas in the D show room for that night. I'm not really a show person but try to see something new each trip to Vegas, Trip # 38, I've seen a lot. This time we were going to Visit the Mob Museum...oh well next time, our friends wanted to attend this one.

We do Breakie in the D's Café, was decent breakfast fare, comp'd is always a little better I love walking fremont street in the early AM, it's been cleaned from the night before, cool out, quiet... We do a free play/match play run 4 queens, Vegas club , Plaza. I come back up $20 up and 3 drinks later ( good thing I'm not driving) Check out, head over to Orleans to check it out. They hold a Keno Tournament 2x times per year and our group of friends has been interested in it for awhile. Pop in to get the info, use our $10 Free play ,$10 match play. The match play isn't accepted at the table- you need to get a coupon from the slot desk to play it. Nah- We pass as we've already stood in line once. Orleans tables were SUPER busy, seems like you can find a lot of things to do-bowling, movies ect...I have Friends that LOVE the Orleans as they bring their teenagers, although.. I've never really caught on to the place. After a quick in a out, decided it's really not for us.

Over to the Silverton to check in. On the way, we talk about the upcoming weather forecast as we have 2 nights Silverton and 2 nights Signature Suites at the MGM to use the pool mostly. It's calling for rain and low temps the rest of the week We decided to cancel the MGM and just stay at the Silverton as we have 3 comp'd nights and the 4th is only $24.99. Checked into a 4th room floor as it's a wood frame building and other floors tend to been quite noisy. Rooms are just ok, comfortable beds and non-itchy sheets. They gave us poolside room, which I'd rather not have as during the day you can hear the music from the pool when trying to nap. Off to the Casino to play off my free play. Lost that and another $200 fast up @ the bar. The Silverton comps top shelf drinks, I drink Grey Goose and soda mostly and love that they do this. I also drink Martini's at the Silverton as well when I really get going. Lemon Drop, apple-tini and the st8 up Gin. Silverton had a promo going (sun-tues) if you earn 500 points you get a $20 comp for food. Earned that fast...it's one per day per person.

Back Downtown to the Ellis Cortez, played up at the Bar lost another $50, we were meeting our friends for dinner at the Flame. I ordered the swordfish on a bed of seagreens ( love these) and it was amazing!!! BF gave me a taste of his Prime rib...for some of my fish. The fish was 100x better, ordered the cream corn finally ( which I've never had) quite decent, a side of asparagus oh and my favorite veggie ...onion rings. The Flame isn't the best, with the lva coupon it's great value for your $ and never really had a awful meal either. We walk back over to the D, for the Scinta's show, it was just ok-I'm happy we didn't pay to get in. I wouldn't recommend it...It had a few funny parts-over all 5 out of 10. Wished our friends from Texas a safe trip home as their leaving in the Am. Back to the Silverton, I recoup some of my losses from earlier by hitting couple hundred on Caveman @ the bar and the BF earns his 500points for his comp ..poor guy has been a losing machine.

Monday May 6th,

Up really early as I need to do payroll and order raw food as I own a pet store. The coffee shop in the Silverton gets free wifi, along with the lobby , Starbucks ect. We order a turkey club w/ hashbrowns and lettuce wraps. Turkey club was good, the wrap was probably the worst I've ever had. They've come pre-done and totally fall apart when eating. Comp'd again.

We head out to Henderson to hit the DSW and Costco...DSW moved and it's now on the west side now of Sunset Station. I got a few pairs of sandals. Use my $5 Birthday coupon hit World Trade Market, Whole foods and the south outlet mall to pick up a pair of runners. I'm wiped...I hate shopping!

We head over to Ellis Island for the BQ, it's now beside the sports book. They've added on to the building, tons of extra tables now, no wait ...we walk right in at 4:30. It's just ok...I'm not a huge meat fan and mostly eat my coleslaw, beans, bread along with one rib. The corn is nasty and overcooked as usual! Not sure why the BF loves this place, on a brighter note, it was really cheap, $15 with tip after the coupon. Back to the Silverton to get my Drink on- Martini after Martini...feeling no pain. I'm up and down, earned a few more $20 food comps, starting to wonder if we'll ever use them. After many hours of play~ I break even. It's about 11pm and I'm kinda hungry since I didn't eat much during our late lunch. We hit the coffee shop again for a veggie pizza and desert. The pizza was great! They've got a wood pizza oven and they're only 9.99 each with many other choices to choose from or build your own. I'd totally go back for one on our next trip! Used a $20 comp and off to bed. Stay tuned for long winded part 3!

Thanks for part 2 of your report and good going on the Keno Tournament.

As for the Scintas, I saw them years ago at Rio with a Free Admission for 2 Coupon from the LVA POV. I thought that the show was just okay.

Looking forward to reading Part 3. At least for me, the more details, the better, so being "long winded" is not a problem for me! So post away!

I LOVE the fact you are fussy about food. We NEED to know these things. Great TR read.
Great trip report! However, I am more like your BF as far as food. I will take prime rib or bbq ribs over fish anyday!
