May 2-9th Downtown and Local Spots Part 3

Just falling asleep Monday night, I get a call from ADT. The store has been broken into, broken glass and someone is walking around.... just lovely! I'm totally WIDE AWAKE now, call the police and try to figure out what's going on. There was a fire next door and the other store's alarm didn't go off, so the Fire Dept was alerted to mine, thinking the fire in my store. Broke the window, broke ceiling tiles ect... My Mom and Staff go to check it out. I'm up till 5am dealing with this mess. I finally get a few hours sleep.

Tuesday May 7th

Wake up totally cranky...head down to release my stresses on a keno machine- loose $100 fast. Head the coffee shop again to use the internet mostly...veggie wrap with hashbrowns, Bf does some breakfast item. Not bad ...use another $20 comp ~ free just need to tip.

I'm a texting machine...trying to deal with a fire. 1/2 of the store's items need to be written off and the store has a terrible smoke smell to it. We need to close, just great! I think about flying home..... Play several hours and can't recoup my loses. We enter the free slot tournament, they do one every Tuesday @ the Silverton and you can earn extra 2 plays with 200 points earned that day. BF gets a 12k score...not bad. Need to check scores @ 6pm to see how he makes out.

We head out to try some local spots Tacos El Gordo, Westie has been raving about it. Went to the Las Vegas Blvd location, sit outside. I order a spicy pork taco and the BF orders 2, Brain and Belly I think. I was surprised at how much he enjoyed our dining experience although I was a little less enthusiastic. It was good, don't get me wrong...I should have order a veggie one. Maybe I was just cranky still.

We then head over to the Eureka Casino which isn't far away. Signed up for a players card....HOLY MOLY this place is interesting. Security outside...glassed in cash cage, you need to slide your info through this metal box! We sit up at the bar and play forever on $20 each. I make the 500 points needed for the $10 free play, collect it and lose it fast. We decided to order some appies from Fat Choy located inside the casino. This place is a diamond in the ruff! We share orders of Peking duck bao and Pork Belly bao...super duper yummy. Tiny portions but just enough for a quick snack, other meals coming out look great too! Really good friendly service, used the 241 in the LVA. Probably would go back to try other menu items.

Go to the outlet downtown...I hate shopping at the best of times and not in the mood. I can only think about how much $ this fire might set me back . Purchase nothing, have my eye on a purse and wallet at Michael Kors but that's it really. Back to the Silverton. Looking for another snack-We try out the Mexican place called Mi Casa, order 2 drinks and some cheese Mexican dip (nasty) that we don't touch and avocado fries which are awesome! I normally eat very little to no meat, so things like this excite me! Used a $20 comp from slot play points. Thinking about a nap...head upstairs, pool is dead ...weather still sucks. Nap 30mins only to wake up to the pool music...

More Martinis and a ton of slots, mostly Keno up at the Bar, hold my own. Bf checks his free tournament play from earlier and he came in 25th spot with $20 free play. We play that together and he comes out ahead $10. My favorite place to eat in the Silverton is the Twin creeks, they've got a happy hour special 1/2 tapas from 8-10, it's quite good...we have prime rib sliders, scallops on sea greens ( my fav) and a blue cheese salad plus 4 martinis. Was around $40 bucks with tip. Bf had about enough points for 1/2 the bill. Used the hot tub and off to bed feeling NO pain!

Wednesday May 8th,

Up really early again, hit the Café again, checked my email update the store's facebook ect...we have BLT's with hashbrowns and OJ...not bad. Comp'd again with the $20 free play. I'm super cranky with the store's fire still. We head downtown to cash in the slot tickets from El Cortez and the D, I forgot when down there. Played 10-15 games keno, had about 4 Jameson n ginger in 60 mins....back to the Silverton. We tried the buffet with another $20 comp. I hit the salad bar as I'm craving veggies BIG time. It's ok...it's really gone down hill since it first opened. Off to the slots....I play ALL afternoon/evening on 100 bucks. up down up down. About 930 we head over to Twin Creeks for Dinner, more tapas... Bacon wrapped dates, stuffed mushrooms, halibut on greens ( it was awesome!) ordered Mobster Martinis with Bourbon x2 , totally kicked my butt! Back to the bar- Bf had to see himself to bed, someone over served himself I sat up @ the bar chatting with a local, hit 7/8 on a 2 bet, played forever...was playing 4 card keno for awhile holding my own. Earned enough points for a free bracelet. Cashed out @ $275 not bad. Went to check on drunkie and deliver some water. Not a bad nite over all.

Thursday may 9th

Breakfast at the café again comp'd, checked email ect, played keno for awhile kinda gambled out. BF needed a nap as he was still hung over. I decided to attempt the pool, sun was off and on...45 mins was all I could do because it was so cold. Cleaned up, we checked out, filled up the rental, hit Michael Kors purchased a new purse and wallet Got to the airport, returned car, checked in and settled into the airport bar to wait for our flight back to Kailspell ( $10 drinks sheeeshh) Smooth sailing on the way home...NO DELAYS yeppie!

Shuttle picked us up from the airport and we checked into the Red Lion Kalispell, used points for the room. Our usual runs... Costco, groceries ect...as all us Canadians do before returning back to Canada. Up early...and drove home, skipped the buffet @ the hotel...as who really wants to eat after Vegas. Made good travelling time on the way back as.....I missed my DOG

Thanks for the report.Hope all is well at the store. You mentioned Jackie Gaughan was saying at the South Point.I thought he was living in a suite at the El Cortez.
I was at the South Pointe few trips back and a employee said he was there....something about his son owning it. Don't know 100 % like you have always hear he stayed at EC.

The store is slowly coming together...boy fires suck!

Thanks for the finale to your report! I'm happy that you did relatively well for that trip but sorry to read about the fire and the damage it caused to your store!

Thanks for taking the time to post your report. I enjoy reading them.

Sorry about the damage to your store. It's horrible to have your trip ruined by the worry about your property. You will have a better trip next time!
Laura,
Thanks for the report...well written and enjoyable.
Understand about the 'beast' being in the hotel. Your $33 is just about the same we pay four ours when the go to the 'hotel'.

Viva Las Vegas!

Thanks so much for the trip reports!
Thanks, everyone...I had fun writing them. In doing so....it always makes me want to return to my favorite city. Just booked air from Calgary July 20-25 for the Vegas Pet Expo-with my GF. Not sure about Hotel or car rental yet...any good deals please let me know. (it's @ Mandalay Bay) We travel very well together and I'm looking forward to it although a lot of work is involved. Hope I can get some fun in and report another trip to sin city!
