May 24-26

This is my first attempt at a trip report so please bear with me. Also, I booked this trip 11 days prior of leaving due to work kicking my butt. So here it goes...

May 24
Drop of the dog at doggie jail by 11:30 am to make 2:30 flight in Syracuse. Delta $450 booked 11 days ago, not a bad deal out of Syracuse. Get to airport and flight is delayed. That is not good because my connection in JFK is only 1/2 hour layover. Amazingly our pilot gets us to the gate ON TIME. I get to my next gate to hear "now boarding zone 3". That's me! Very bumpy flight so I did not sleep at all.

I got into Las Vegas 1/2 hour late due to rerouting over the mid-west storms but I made it there by 8 pm. Cab to Harrahs. There is NOONE in line to check in at 8:30. I am shocked. I am in my room (Deluxe-comped) in 5 minutes. Nice view of pool and I get a coffee maker (I don't know why that makes me happy but it does.).

Go down to casino to play and have a few drinks. I play slots for a little while and win nothing. Switch to video poker in the "Poker Place". Within a few minutes I hit a 4OAK in aces with kicker. $500 is the right way to start this trip! Yippee! I go over to play at Casino Royal for a few and they have a new promo called points frenzy. Basically while you are playing you can get 20x to 100x points on your card. I didn't even play much and by the time I left I had 35 comp dollars. I still wish they would bring back the old coupon sheet but we all know how that is. Time for Mickey D's and bed at 1 am.

May 25
Got up at 5:30 am. For some reason I just can't sleep much in LV, I don't know why. I have my morning coffee in my room and get ready for the day. I get down to the casino by 6:30 and just play for awhile seeings that I was not hungry.

I take the monorail down to the MGM. It is a beautiful day 90 and sunny, light breeze. I had planned on walking the way back so I didn't want to be tired when I got to the MGM. I like the MGM in that I have stayed there a few times and I can navigate it quite well. I know people that get lost in there all the time. I go to see them release the lions (ususally the only time they are awake) . 11 am, no lions. 11:15, no lions. 11:30, no lions. I give up, someone comes out to say they are having technical difficulties in the back. What? Did ya lose the key to the cage? Whatever, I leave.

On to the Cosmopolitan. Walk in the doors on LV Blvd. First thing I see is the Candelier Bar. Wow, that is cool. I was stunned at how beautiful it was. On to the third floor. Thanks to most of you, I find it easily. That pizza was delicious. I was the only person there at 12:15. Maybe it shouldn't be so hard to find. It really was good but a tad expensive.
I then go down to the casino to sign up for a card. Short line to sign up. I get $10 free play (with at least $10 cash in). I play for a little while and win nothing. I put 6 points on my card. I can't wait to see the offers that pour in for me at that level. Hee-hee.

Off to Bellagio and the conservatory. It is a beautiful display and smells so good in there. I took some pics with my phone and sent them to my friends who have been to LV. (Sorry I don't know how to put them in here.) The display is a carnival theme with a merry go round and ferris wheel. I sit down for a few minutes to play Airplane slot machine. Fun machine, cool bonus. Just played the money through. Is it just me or does it always seem empty in the slot areas in the Bellagio? Anyway, I make my way to Ceasar's and get a Frrrrrozen Hot Chocolate. I know everyone sells the now but I prefer them at Serendipity. Delicious as usual. Play Great and Poweful Oz for a bit while trying to avoid brain freeze.

Back to Harrahs at 3. Room still not done. I overhear a supervisor talking to a maid to hurry up. I go back down to the casino to play while they do the room. Decide to get a sub at Subway next door. Hits the spot. Better that it was free with my comp dollars.

I walk down to Venetian/Palazzo. I have fun playing the old Star Wars and Glenda the Good Witch machines. I double the $20 I put in both. There is a patriotic display between the casinos. It was very nice. I forgot that Monday will be Memorial Day. Must be for that and the 4th of July.

Back to Harrahs. Room is all made up now and she left me new coffee (sometimes they don't). Take some pics of the people in the pool. I was on the 5th floor so they were close. Go back down to play until dark. Win some on Cats and Kitty Glitter. Not doing that well on DDB today. Only got 1 4OAK in Jacks.

After it gets dark, I walk down to the Bellagio to watch the fountains. I could watch those fountains all day. They are so amazing. The show I see is an instrumental and short. I tend to tear up if it is a sad song, so I was glad it was short. I decide I want to see the volcano and have 10 minutes to get there. I ran part of the way but made the 9pm show. Took some pics to send to friends and then went back to Harrahs. The Cats machine that is all the way of the right of the sports book is an ATM for me. $20 in $40 out. $20 in, $100 out. Also play DDB and get a $200 4OAK. Go to bed happy at midnight. It was a long, good day.

May 26
Last day. I leave at 11:55 pm, so I do have the whole day. Up again at 5:30. Lay around until 6:30, finally get up to get ready. Went to Harrahs buffet for breakfast. Consistent as usual. It was nice to be there so early (7:15). No line and the food seemed fresher. Play some DDB before getting on with the day and hit a $500 4OAK again. Great way to start the day. Took a short nap till 9:30.

Walked down to PH, walk around the mall. Then walk to Ceasars and walk around that mall. I have been to both of them many times but just like to wander around and people watch a bit. I stopped at the Carnagie Deli for lunch. What ever you do, DON'T get the meatloaf. It was burned and I felt sick later in the day. I walk down to Wynn/Encore for a bit. I haven't been to Wynn for 3 years and had never seen Encore. It was pretty. They sign me up for a card but I don't have enough time (or money) to play for the free buffet. Just like Bellagio, there is noone in there gambling. Just seemed empty.

Just a few more hours to departure. I play DDB and get a few more low paying 4OAKs. I play Kitty Glitter and net $250 on a bonus. Not bad for a .60 bet. I go back to my room, shower, pack, and say goodbye to my room.

Flight home was smooth. I slept the whole way. I get back to Syracuse on time. I bail out the dog ($30 a day bail). Get home and crash for a while, it was a long 3 days.

Thank you-
-Thank you to Harrahs for another great stay. I know some of you don't like Harrahs and CET, but they treat this gold card well and I do well on their VP.
-Thank you to Las Vegas for making me feel human again.
-Thank you to Serendipity 3 for making Frrrrozen Hot Chocolate.

What's up?
?What's up with all the costumed charaters on the strip? Some are just plain creepy.
?What's up with the guy who was beating on the buttons while playing VP at Harrahs? It doesn't make the machine pay you, it breaks the buttons for the rest of us.
?What's up with the bums using pets to get us to give them money? I love animals. It was hard to walk past that.

That's all I got for now. I will be returning in October for a 3 night stay with a friend. Probably will see a show or two during that one. Hope you liked it.

Jennifer
Enjoyed your report! Thanks!
Thanks for the nice report. Definitely agree w/the ?what's up? portion. I like CET too. The only place that really sucks my $$$ is Paris but I've had decent luck at the others
TY for the great first time TR! Congrats on all the quads! Hope they turn to royals the next trip! Looks like you had a nice relaxing trip!

Great first TR. Enjoyed it all.
Totally agree about the whats up with beggars using pets - heard someone ask if they could pet the dog.....sure, for a dollar!!! WTF!!!
Hope you got your batteries recharged.
Thank you for your kind words. I will now have more confidence for a trip report in October.
VP- I agree with Paris sucking $$$. I don't play there, only eat in the restaurants.
Judy- I got a royal on my last two trips. I was somewhat disappointed I didn't on this trip and there was no lack of trying. I like solo trips because I find them more relaxing. The only expectation I need to meet is my own.
Greenside- This trip was exactly what I needed. I needed the sunshine (rough winter in northeast) and time away.

Jennifer
Thank you Jennifer for your very well written first time Trip Report!

I'm happy to read about your nice wins too! I tend to avoid DDB like the plague because it really can be quite volatile (its volatility rating [actually called its "Variance"] is 42 {at least for 10/6 DDB} which I think is quite high -- 9/6 Jacks Or Better's rate is about 19.5 and 10/7/5 Double Bonus Poker's rate is 28).

Good job on the report, and congrats on the nice hits!
I like CET just fine.
Since nobody here is supplying me with gambling money, I play where I want to!
Thanks for sharing your report and for the review on Serendipity 3's frozen hot chocolates. I look forward to reading your next trip report.

.. hi rec

.may i ask this question ..seriously

why is there a volatile rating scale for video poker ..if the rng for game king and other vegas-normal machines are truely "random" and let's say ..8/5 for example.. what difference does it make with respect to the type of game ..job, db, ddb ..?

. it should make zero difference ..otherwise the machines are rigged ..

aloha..
