Arrived in Las Vegas around 11 am windy and cold 58 degrees with a few drops of rain. What the hey LV is never this cold when we come and it has never rained on my parade. We get our rental car and head to Terrible's to do our $100 Free Slot Play. I played for over an hour and finally doubled @ $225. My goal was to double or lose it all. I cashed out and waited for hubby to finish his play. He was in the very long line at the players club to verify his loss so I decided to play some DDB quarters to pass the time. I left up, hubby lost $45. We ate at Ellis Island using the BOGO getting the KING cut Prime Rib meal for $13 plus tip and of course the 3 rounds of free drinks. It was oh so good! We went to the grocery to pick up some room beer, soda and a case of bottled water and then headed to Eastside Cannery for our comped 2 night stay plus we had #2 offers for $20 free play loaded on my players card. Really nice room, clean and very comfortable bedding. Hit a few 4oak's there and easily earned free buffet comps although the buffet wasn't anything to write home about but a free meal is a free meal. Enjoyed playing VP there.
Monday 5-30 we got up very early and drove to Death Valley National Park. This was an all day event 2 plus hours to get there, driving around the park, visiting Badwater, Scotty's Castle, Devils Golf Course, Artists Palette and came back to Vegas via the long way passing through Rhyolite Ghost Town and seeing the glass bottle house. We went to Boulder Station to eat at Guadalajara (love their salsa bar) trying to use our $4 off entree coupon in the LVA POV. Stupid me Monday was a holiday and they don't accept coupons on holidays. I though that I checked that before going in but I looked at the Sunset Station coupon and there are no restriction on it but not the Boulder one. Cold and rain when I land in LV and now I am paying full price for a meal... what gives? Back to E Cannery around 9 pm to gamble away my sorrow.
Tuesday 5-31 Ate lunch at The Nevada Chicken Cafe using a $10 Groupon for $20 worth of food. Had I not bought the Groupon we would have never known about this restaurant (6155 W Sahara Ave). OMG I have never had such good Chicken. This will definitely become a yearly lunch stop for us. Large portions, cooked perfectly and wonderful flavor through and through. Checked into Caesars for out 2 day stay - room was nice but Paris (2010 trip) was nicer and newer. We purchased our All Stage Passes for $233, somewhere around $35 in fees for the two passes @ 2:35 pm. We managed to see 6 shows in the 48 hours as follows: 5-31 Matsuri @ 4pm, Absinthe @7:30pm and X-Burlesque @ 10pm (wanted to see George Wallace but he was on vacation) 6-1 The Price is Right @2:30pm, Defending the Caveman @7pm and The Improv @ 8:30pm, we could have taken in a 7th (Mac King @1 or 3pm or Nathan Burton @ 4pm) on 6-2 but didn't because we had seen both shows already. Show tickets can be obtained up to two hour before show time. This kept us on the strip running fron casino to casino box office, seeing a show or waiting to buy tickets to guarantee we could see the show. We found that we spent a lot in food cost for those 2 days because eats aren't cheap in the strip and very few places offer BOGO's. None-the-less we are happy with our results for the All Stage Pass as this was out 10th trip to Las Vegas. If you have limited days or you are a first time or two visitor you may not want to invest in this package as it consumes a lot of you valuable Vegas time. Defending the Caveman is a FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY! one man show great for couples or anyone ever in a couple relationship. Lots of BOGO's for this one. If you haven't already make a point to go see it.
Thursday 6-2 we did our free play from the POV coupons, Hubby managed to hit Quad A's on his $10 from 4 Queens for $200, at the Rivera we both played $50 for $30 option. Hubby profited $20 and I $25. We checked into Orleans changed and headed out for our evening dinner and show. Before the show we ate for a second time at Ellis Island using hubby's BOGO this time in the Bar-B-Que, both had the Chicken and Rib Combo meal for under $10 plus tip. This meal was more that I can ever eat. I asked them to box it up (I hadn't even eaten off of the chicken) my intention was to give it to a homeless person as I had no place to store food to eat later. I was playing some video poker while I was finishing my 3 round of my drinks chatting with two very nice gentleman on my left. I asked if they were hungry explaining my "doggy bag", they were waiting for the restaurant, I told them I wanted to give it to someone homeless rather than just throw it away. Not knowing if I would see someone to give it to on my way to the show he was a local knew where to take it. I gladly gave it to him even if he was taking it home and it never made it to the mouth of someone in need I was happy that it didn't have to be thrown in the garbage. He said I would hit something big for my kindness. We headed to The Lion King, tickets were bought months before the price increase for around $65 per ticket. I have seen a few shows in Vegas but nothing as long as this show. I understand that its a musical but it was too long (2 1/2 hours) for a Vegas show in my opinion. Hubby hated it! I was okay with it but seeing this show made me leery of "musicals" as big ticket shows. Back to the Orleans for a night of drinking and gambling. I hit quite a few 4 of a kinds so maybe my nice gesture did come back to me in a positive way.
Friday 6-3 we ate the Breakfast Buffet as the Orlean's as they gave us a little dining credit and we used the POV BOGO making the meal free. We went to see the Hangover @2 at the AMC on Rainbow using a free Gift card that I had won in a contest, we don't have an AMC theater near my home in Ohio. Waiting for the movie to start, listed times were messed up we went over to a bar and had a beer and some video poker. I hit quad 4's on a DB for $100. Very funny movie. We headed down town for our last night in town. Hubby did the zip line loved it! got to see two of the overhead light shows and was surprised to see that they only do the shows hourly now. Bought some .97 cent souvenirs for my coworkers and back to the Orleans around 10:30 pm. I had a great night of video poker for my last night in Vegas, really a good week. Biggest hit was quad A's with a kicker on .25 for a cool $500.
