May 9-13 Doing Vegas Solo.....again.

Larry;
You are in for one heck of a ride the night of the Fogerty concert! He is right up there with the Who (whom i've seen twice) and the Rolling Stones (whom i was fortunate enough to catch last summer at TCF stadium). I saw Fogerty at the Venetian Theatre last January - he is a fantastic performer -hasn't lost a beat! You will know all the songs. ENJOY!!!!

Yeah, that four card split stung a little bit. The dealer had a "5" showing, so I was fairly confident that I could "take her down". All four hands turned out lousy; no hand higher that a 16....prayed that the dealer would bust....she flips up a "7"...I have a chance...then an "8" for "20"...stick a fork in me, I'm done. Well, it was better than seeing the dealer flip over a seven card 19 to beat my 18 the last time that I played at the Gate.....that was bizarre.

I hate when that happens. and it does happen all too often. those re-splits with double-downs are supposed to be you money makers. you are following proper strategy and get reamed. one of many reasons I just cant hardly stand to play BJ anymore.
Nice trip report!
You will love John Fogerty,
Every song s hit!
Great TR. Thanks Larry. A couple of things. To me, going to Las Vegas "solo" is the best. Your own time, your own agenda, your own gambling. MAG for breakfast is the best. I like to start my day there with an exotic breakfast and chocolate martini. One sad thing that I have yet to check out personally. Just read about the Stage Door on one of the Restaurant threads. Sounds like (as of the 6/25 posting) that it has been "upgraded and refurbished." The poster was very down on it, and it does not sound like the classic "dive bar" that it always has been ("hipsters" now at the bar instead of the great "melting pot" it used to be). Sad to hear of another Vegas classic fading away. It reminds me to try to catch a "classic" on each trip (my next is 7/24-7/29). Enjoy your September trip. As you may know, the Sterling Brunch is outrageously expensive, but well worth it!!

I've experienced the Sterling buffet twice before; expensive, but the food selections are great. I should drink enough of that delicious champagne to at least break even with the cost of the buffet. Looking forward to the Fogerty concert. I think PBR's are still a buck at the Stage Door.
