Love your trip report!!
Thanks!
Martha Stewart's Bedford has it right. Tranquil music playing in the background! The way all restaurants should be!
I still like the D and Circa but I bring foam earplugs every time now. Makes it tolerable!

You mention noise/music levels at several points, and how pleasant music enhances the experience but loud music all but destroys it. Unfortunately, many of the junior execs making these environmental decisions grew up in the earbuds era, when they and their cohorts spent every waking moment with loud music being pumped directly into their ears. So naturally, they think that "deafening" is the optimal default setting. That mindset has made, for example, both the D and Circa downtown into horrible, unapproachable noise-pits.
I remember a much earlier example of this, at the old Palms, where 9ine Steakhouse served the most awesome food ever, but God help you if you arrived there after 7:00. At that time, the music was cranked up to 450,000 decibels and it became impossible to eat, with the blood from your ears running onto your plate.
I'm sure folks are tired of 'reading' me say this, but has anybody actually submitted complaints about the noise to management? As for eateries, I've learned to pay attention to the music volume the minute I walk into a place. Whereupon if I think it is loud, I very politely advise the host/greeter/seater "Could you lower the music volume? It is TOO loud." (Note I don't say 'kinda loud' or 'a little loud', I use the TOO word.
Most times that person says "Yes, will do". Or "I'll tell the manager."
Then I pay attention to whether volume is lowered, because after a while our human ear becomes accustomed to the decibels, kind of like how a bloodhound's or K-9's sniffer keeps the scent active a long time, unlike how in humans we get 'used to' a scent, even a bad odor. I'll ask again if it isn't lowered. Almost always successful.
As for the casino, that will be a different 'manager' to notify, who may toss it in the proverbial round file. Maybe a Host if you have one or find one. If you get a survey, rate "Casino atmosphere" as "0" (zero, or worst) and explain why in a text box. Even if everything else is lovely and you go down the list rating everything "10", the "zero" will be noticed (and of course handed off to an underling to investigate, but better than nothing). I've noticed a lot of times the actual survey question is "XYZ casino has a fun, exciting atmostphere", something like that, so you have to think of that survey item as your opportunity to rate/speak up about loud noise. If enough people complained on the survey, it could make a difference.
Geez, I know I do go on and on, but 'noisy' is big with me, drives me nuts, and keeps me from coming back.

You know might be almost worse? I just spent 5 days at Southpoint and I have to believe their music "loop" is about one hour max. By day 2, I had to put some headphones on. Or I find myself searching for noisy places in the casino so I can't hear the crap music they play.
That is my only complaint with SP but it is becoming a big one.
lol. That is funny.
Day Five, May 31

I think I can 'read' the getting tired already in your posts, but still you tell us so much!
Hooray for the raised toilet seat! LOL. I've always wondered about those 'accessible' shower stalls, does water run everywhere? Now you can report on that.
Maybe no mirrors 'cause they'd rather we didn't see what the long hours, smoke filled rooms, alcohol, etc. do to our faces in a short time. Ha.
Your Mirage room looks kind of dowdy, compared to the one room/one night we stayed when it was brand new. I'd guess rooms were 'remodeled' from opening to now. At Bellagio I loved the rooms until they remodeled the rooms and hallways. Didn't like the remodel at all.
Planet Hollywood lost me the first time I walked in. Went to get a players card. About four ladies were going on and off shift (I finally figured out), and I bet I stood there 10 minutes, them chatting on and on with each other without so much as an acknowledgment that I was there waiting. Finally turned and left and never went back, never got a card, never played a penny there. I know lots of folks like PH, and hopefully that was a customer service outlier, but too many other places to donate to without being ignored/insulted.
Really enjoying your reports, as always.

I started complaining about the loud music at the Golden Gate years ago. It's intolerable even at 7:00 am. The D plays Oldies music upstairs, at an acceptable volume, so that's where I play. Also like the older slot machines. They seem to pay better for me.
Day 6, June 1

Interesting day. I hope you have better luck at the machines today. Really enjoying your trip report and pics.
For your UTI, hope you found AZO tablets at the drug store. Not a cure, not even a treatment but they anesthetize your plumbing, relief. I never travel without them.
Also, cranberry juice!!! The cranberry juice cocktail is fine. Pure cranberry juice tastes pretty awful, but it would work too. This is medically documented. My doctor doesn't recommend cranberry in the pill form, but she is all for taking cranberry juice. I actually like cranberry juice cocktail, UTI or not. Good luck.
