MGM Grand

MGM Grand 26 sept to 6 Oct 2011 ( with a couple of nights on the side at Mandalay Bay ) 8th Vegas trip

Flight from Uk long and boring as ever and arrived in Vegas at 2pm with wife and in laws - booked into the MGM grand for 10 days - tried tipping , but politely declined - still ended up with better bungalow suite than the in laws. Also had free up grade on car - off to a good start . Had booked this trip in Feb - checked the new MLife website the week before we came out - had 2 free nights at M Bay $150 freeplay and $70 in Express Comps -also Gold level memberships - no idea why - havent been to vegas for 2 years and only have $300 a day to play with for the 2 of us. still didnt question - took the Mbay offer for the free play ( turned in $50) and to use the pool. Also wife slept over there for 2 nights to avoid my snoring !

Spent the next 10 days doing the normal - playing slots , using coupons to make money go futher , playing 1c to get nearly free cocktails, taking in shows etc Spent a very nice Sunday morning at Palms - won $500 then had brunch at Simons in Palms Place using voucher for free champagne and beer - loved it - food fantastic and staff fun.

Highlights and random thoughts

Deep fried twinkies - not worth the wait

Gun Store -great fun - but get there early - arrived at 9 am and still had 40 min wait

Comps - ask and you may get - in laws thought they hadnt played anyway near enough to get any comps - after pushing them into checking got $80 refund on bill

In and Out Burger - great - why havent I been there before

Ice Hockey at MGM - nice suprise it was on - wish i'd thought to taken a jacket !

Coupons - saved $270 - brilliant !

Red Rock casino - brilliant buffet - about $2.50 each voucher / boarding card - worth the trip

Must have gambled through $500 to win a car - wonder how oftern these are won?

Overall took $3000 to gamble - bought back $2750 + $250 express comps +$400 comped off room = not bad !! Never played video poker before - got a straight on my first go ! $30 win

Fremont street - still fun - loved the Halloween theme

MGM = busy - glad to see it

We had 10 nights of Vegas fun and loved it !

Real nice report.

You certainly got around. That's the way to do Vegas- friends and family, gambling, nice hotel, a little gun play, good food and use those coupons & free-play.

"Wonder how often these (cars) are won?" In 1997 at the Tahoe Biltmore, North Shore Lake Tahoe, my Pop won a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, playing nickle slots. He put in $5 and hit the winner on his 3rd pull, so it cost him 45 cents. LOL!!! So it does happen.
Thank you for the report as well as for your additional comments.

That's nice that you could come with your in-laws and that they got some comps as well! And yes, it definitely pays to ask because you never know what they might say and they could say yes to comping you!

As for Video Poker, I would encourage you to learn how to play it accurately. There are good and even some free programs that you can get to help you with your play.

Check out the Free "Frugal Video Poker" download from https://www.wolfvideopoker.com and a good online site to work with is https://www.vpgenius.com

And then you can go to a site like https://www.vpfree2.com to find out which casino offers what hopefully good enough Video Poker games!

About the car winning thing., at the 4Queens in DT they are still trying to win that blue 2007 Mustang and at the Fitz. that Maroon Corvette people are trying to win is at least 5 years old. Not, sure though that someone might have won those cars and taken the cash instead, but I have never seen a cash option for either of those two examples. Years ago on the strip they had a motorcycle for a prize and no one ever won it, some cars change from year to year so its not hard to see if your playing for an older model, but that motorcycle was 8 years old the last time I looked at the manufacturer's vin # on the bike. I wonder if any one ever won that bike, I walked by it year after year until that casino no longer existed. I wish they would bring back those promo's like they used to have where a casino would give away 30 cars a month, everyday someone won one. Oh, and thanks for writing your report.
