I just came back from my trip with my Mom and stayed at the California from 2/24 to 2/29. Three nights comped and other two nights at 37 bucks per night.
As mentioned elsewhere the California is going thru some remodeling in the casino right now with the rooms to be done next. Some areas are tarped off and from what I hear they are going to be opening a new restaurant where the snack bar was and they are remodeling one of the bars there.
Checked in and got a room on the 18th floor at the end of the hallway which was good and it was very quiet the whole stay.
I used my MRB on pretty much all the downtown properties for the buffets and free play and also used the 241 at the Market Street Cafe and I have to say the food was very good there. Mom had a T-bone steak and I had the Chicken Fried steak and bill was only 15 bucks.
Gambling wise we did very good gambling on this trip.
Here are some highlights:
Thursday hit for 300 on a slot machine at the Cal.
On Friday Mom hit a 2500 jackpot at the Four Queens.
Saturday night playing triple play wheel poker at Binions was dealt quad Jacks and hit a 1000 coins on the bonus spin. Cashed at 350 bucks after putting in only 20 bucks.
Sunday afternoon hit a royal at Sam's Town and Sunday night Mom won another 800 bucks on a slot machine at Binions.
Monday before I left won a 142 bucks on a Keno machine playing less than 10 bucks at the Cal.
We had the best luck at Binions and the Four Queens. Couldnt win anything at the Fremont or the D.
Only downer of the trip was when someone stole my cell phone at the El Cortez. I turned around to say something to my Mom who was sitting a few feet behind me and they took my phone from the coin tray where I was sitting. Reported it to security who acted like they didn't really care.
However it ended up being a great trip as my Mom brought home a lot more than she brought and I only ended up bring back about two hundred bucks less than I brought which I considered a win.
The weather was awesome out there as highs were near 80 degrees with lows in the mid fifties.
Can't wait for next trip!
